The battle continued on the wasteland of the Wasteland World.
"Alien armies, symbiotes, and now demons!"
As a pacifist, Hank Pym generally didn't kill people, or rather, disliked any act of violence. But sometimes he had to admit that this universe had people who really liked to communicate through force.
They wouldn't listen to reason until you violently stopped them.
But Hank Pym disliked it.
"Honestly, I'm a little tired, Janet. Sometimes I wonder if I should just quit the Avengers and focus on my research."
Hank sighed helplessly as his lover flew to his side. He stomped on a demon-mutated Iceman. Wasp, conversely, seemed excited: "Why, Hank? We're protecting everyone."
Perhaps one day in the future, when there are more and more superheroes, the world won't need Ant-Man anymore, and it certainly won't need Ultron.
Hank sighed helplessly while continuing to fight. The carnage on the ground raged on. Logan skewered a demon with one claw, only for a demon-mutated Colossus to lunge at him from behind—but was instantly pierced by another set of steel claws.
Logan looked over. He had never expected to see such an elderly version of himself, or rather, he never thought he would actually grow old.
"So, you're the future—"
"Best not to ask, kid."
Old Man Logan knew what had happened in the Wasteland World but nodded in understanding anyway. He then saw Laura Kinney wearing a black Wolverine uniform charge into the fray, killing indiscriminately alongside the Hulk, seemingly immersed in the fight. Logan couldn't help but ask the elderly Wolverine: "Has she always been like that?"
"I don't know. Your Peter Parker brought her from a world where everyone was killed by Wade Wilson. But from my memory, not entirely. She's younger than my Laura was when she died."
Logan shrugged. He never thought things would be this... bizarre.
In a way, what was happening here was a secret war. No one on Earth-616 would ever realize this battle was taking place. The heroes were here to stop a dangerous enemy's invasion, but no one would know about this great fight.
And in a sense, the root cause of all this, Illyana Rasputin, was merely an ordinary person using the most basic dark magic to enchant her weapon, wielding a greatsword to hack down demon after demon.
Colossus guarded his sister with disbelief. The memory of her turning into a demon earlier was still fresh, making it hard for him to accept. Although Illyana had reverted to human form, the fact that she was suddenly several years older was still difficult for him to handle.
"Watch out, Snowfl—"
Colossus punched away a demon trying to get close to his sister, only for the latter to nearly strike him with her sword.
"I can handle it. Don't worry about me."
"You don't have powers, Illyana. You're just a kid with a sword."
Illyana turned away with a cold face and sliced through a demonic variant of her own brother.
"I've been fighting these bastards for three damn years, okay? I know these monsters better than you, big brother."
My little sister is swearing...
A distressed Peter Rasputin smashed the head of a demon Wolverine with a frustrated punch, venting his anger.
"Alright, children, first, ensure your safety."
Storm guarded the two young mutant squads, ensuring their safety while allowing them to participate in the fight. But when she took a headcount, she realized someone was missing.
Where did Shadowcat go?
Kitty remembered Strange's words: the truly important item for Belasco was the Amulet—it was the key for him to summon monsters onto Earth. If they got the Amulet, he would be defeated.
Who better to steal the item from that guy's hands than Shadowcat?
So, in the midst of the chaotic fight, Kitty phased toward Belasco, who was locked in fierce combat with a magic-wielding and three-hammer-controlling Thor. Kitty located the Amulet hanging on Belasco's chest and reached out to take it.
She was knocked away.
This was the first time she had been struck while in her phased state. Shaken and nearly falling, Kitty didn't understand what had happened. She looked at the thing that had struck her—it was a hideously cat-faced variant of Shadowcat, one of the survivors Spider-Man had brought over.
Why did she knock me away and go for the Amulet? Aren't we the same?
Kitty soon found out the answer.
Belasco, grappling with Thor, didn't notice the new arrival. When a cat claw emerged from his chest and plucked the Amulet hanging there, Belasco seemed to understand what had happened.
Then, his fury was unleashed.
Boundless Hellfire instantly covered the entire battlefield. Depressed Strange instinctively deployed a shield to block the Hellfire. Strange immediately reinforced the shield, and Thor swung his hammers to form a protective barrier, stopping the Hellfire.
When the Hellfire dissipated, all that remained on the ground was a single charred corpse and a shattered Mjolnir.
"You foolish mortal, did you truly think I couldn't counter your little trick?" Belasco's enraged outburst finally gave him a moment of power. Using the might of Limbo, he crushed the Mjolnir that belonged neither to Earth-616 nor this Wasteland World. Then, he carelessly reached out to pick up the Amulet that had fallen to the ground.
A golden light appeared before him.
A portal descended, and a nearly six-foot-tall Red Demon (Darkchylde) with a longsword in hand slashed toward Belasco's head. Belasco was surprised by the sudden appearance of Illyana, but when the sword struck his neck, it predictably melted.
Belasco watched as the demon before him hooked the fallen Amulet with her tail and grasped it in her hand.
"You really don't know when to quit, Illyana," he stood up, looking at the Magik before him, and spoke helplessly. "That half of your soul has already been relinquished by you. Now, unless you tear your soul in half again, the Bloodstone won't return to your soul..."
"I didn't learn much magic, Belasco."
To be accurate, Illyana had barely learned any spells.
"But I can do this!"
The hilt of the longsword was still in her hand, and she chose to use her own soul as the material to reshape—or rather, enchant—a sword.
Belasco finally smiled.
"You really are... surprising me time and time again."
