Garfield's Spider-Verse
At this moment, Garfield was still frustrated that Alex Ray refused to accept him as his apprentice, while Gwen had already slipped away quietly and was reporting everything to Spider-Man 2099.
"Sir, I didn't change anything that had already happened. I only eliminated the mutants and planned to leave this universe," Gwen explained, pacing back and forth.
She knew full well that Spider-Man 2099 would come looking for her, because for Spider-Man, the deaths of Uncle Ben and Sheriff George were fixed points in time.
But it really wasn't her concern, and she hadn't altered anything.
Only the voice and image of Spider-Man 2099 came through the watch: "What is going on? Why didn't Sheriff George die?"
Gwen took a deep breath. She wasn't sure if she should reveal anything about Alex Ray.
Spider-Man 2099 saw Gwen's hesitation and pressed, "Tell me now! If you don't, I'll have to go there myself!"
Hearing the threat, Gwen seemed to give up resisting. "Well, it was a man named Alex Ray. I don't know who he really is. I only know that he saved Uncle Ben and Sheriff George. I was about to return to headquarters, but he found me."
Gwen was indeed referring to Alex Ray, the man she had just met. She did not lie. She knew that even if she didn't say it, Spider-Man 2099 would come looking soon.
Gwen didn't expect Spider-Man 2099 to hang up immediately after hearing Alex Ray's name.
"Fortunately, they didn't hear my conversation," Gwen muttered, worried that Garfield's or Tobey's Peter Parker might have overheard her.
What she didn't realize was that Harry and Tobey's Peter were frowning not far away.
. . . . . . . . . .
"Alex Ray! It's Alex Ray again!" Spider-Man 2099's voice thundered through the Spider-Man base.
He frowned, his face twisting with confusion and anger. "He's the one who saved Uncle Ben last time, and now he's saved Officer George! What exactly does he want? Does he want to destroy our Spider-Man legacy?"
Spider-Man 2099's words dripped with frustration and resentment. He was clearly displeased with Alex Ray's repeated interference.
He couldn't understand why Alex Ray always appeared at critical moments and altered established events.
"Clearly, none of this concerns him. Does he even realize the consequences? He doesn't look like a decisive killer. Why is he trying to change Peter Parker's fate?" Spider-Man 2099's voice was sarcastic.
"But after Alex Ray saved Uncle Ben, he didn't let that universe collapse. Maybe he has a solution," the middle-aged Buddhist Spider-Man calmly defended Alex Ray. His tone was reasoned, showing some sympathy.
Alex Ray's name had spread throughout the Spider-Man network, his actions shocking everyone.
After all, he was the one who saved Uncle Ben and hadn't yet triggered any universe-ending catastrophe.
The Buddhist Spider-Man sighed quietly, wishing someone like Alex Ray had existed in his own timeline—it might have changed everything.
"But we can't always be so lucky. What if the universe collapses this time? What if our universe is next? Damn Miles, this is all his fault! His existence is a mistake!" Spider-Man 2099 snapped.
His anger was aimed at Miles Morales, blaming him for opening the door for Alex Ray's interference across universes.
Though furious with Alex Ray's meddling, Spider-Man 2099 wanted to find out who this man really was.
He resolved to confront Alex Ray personally to uncover the truth.
What Spider-Man 2099 didn't realize was that many other Spider-Men had already spread the word about Alex Ray.
Whether on missions or relaxing within the Spider-Man League, all knew the name Alex Ray and understood he had once again disrupted the timeline by saving Peter's relatives.
Last time they only knew that a human had saved Uncle Ben, but never his name. This time, through multiple Spider-Men, the name Alex Ray was known.
Many Spider-Men had begun to feel a slight admiration for Alex Ray, despite knowing the deaths of Uncle Ben and others were fixed points.
Though aware that changing these events risked universe collapse, they silently accepted it.
Spider-Men were still human; they had emotions.
Though accepting the death of loved ones was part of their fate, seeing Alex Ray dare to save Peter Parker's family without cosmic disaster gave them hope.
Perhaps this man named Alex Ray could find a way to save their loved ones without destroying the multiverse.
Of course, some Spider-Men feared Alex Ray might not realize the harm he was causing by altering fate.
But regardless, they expressed gratitude to him.
To them, Alex Ray's actions opened a window of possibility and hope.
Some Spider-Men no longer wanted to be heroes; they yearned for a normal life.
They had long grown tired of Spider-Man 2099's grim prophecies.
It wasn't that no one tried to resist fate; those who did often triggered universe collapse.
The rest accepted their destiny, unwilling to risk their own worlds again.
But this did not mean they gave up fighting.
They waited, hoping someone would appear who could break their tragic cycle.
And now, they saw hope — the name Alex Ray.
"Could that person be you, Alex Ray?" Hobby Brown, dressed in punk attire, gazed up at the sky.
He was a Spider-Man with his own ideals, refusing to accept fate's chains, yearning for freedom.
Now, he pinned his hopes on Alex Ray.
Alex Ray himself had only saved Uncle Ben from Tobey's universe and Sheriff George from Garfield's to atone for regrets from his past life.
He never expected this act would make him a friend to so many Spider-Men.
His unintentional deeds became the key to changing Spider-Man's destiny.
His name spread through the Spider-Verse, sparking discussion and attention.
. . . . . . .
Meanwhile, Alex Ray found no major issues with this universe, but the constant notifications from his system panel intrigued him.
