Chapter 9 - Chapter 7: Foundations of the Future

The sun rose over Coruscant, painting the towering spires of the Jedi Temple in shades of gold. Inside one of the Temple's quieter training halls, Revan stood before Naruto, both dressed in simple Jedi robes. In Naruto's small hands was a practice lightsaber, its blue blade shimmering to life with a hiss.

Revan knelt. "Today, we begin something new. This weapon is not a toy, Naruto. It is a part of you. Like chakra, the Force flows through it—and through you."

Naruto beamed with anticipation. "I'm ready, big brother!"

Their training began with the fundamentals. Revan instructed Naruto on proper form—how to hold the blade, adjust his stance, and feel the Force flow with each movement. Naruto's strikes were wild at first, driven more by energy than technique, but Revan's calm corrections slowly shaped his form.

After an hour, the doors opened and Master Yoda entered, leaning lightly on his cane.

"Guiding him alone, are you?" Yoda asked with a slight raise of his brow.

Revan bowed his head. "Master Yoda. He is my responsibility."

Yoda looked at Naruto, who was panting but grinning. "Powerful, the child is. Chaotic, also. Guide him, you must—but guide you, I shall."

Revan hesitated. "I don't want to be a burden."

"Lost, all you knew. Adjust, you must. Alone, you are not," Yoda said gently. "Teach together, we will."

For the next several days, Yoda worked alongside Revan, helping Naruto meditate, develop balance, and begin to understand the Force's will. Naruto's growth was quick but uneven. One moment, he showed incredible control. The next, he accidentally singed the wall with a Force burst.

Naruto's bright spirit, however, never dimmed. In the structured halls of the Jedi Temple, he became known not just for his immense potential, but for the almost mystifying pranks he pulled on unsuspecting Knights and Masters alike. A common favorite involved a subtle application of chakra that rearranged Temple corridor signage, sending Masters walking in loops until they realized the trap. Another time, an entire corridor's lighting began blinking in rhythmic patterns that spelled out "Revan snores" in ancient Alderaanian Morse. Once, even Master Windu found his robes mysteriously dyed a bright shade of orange for three whole days—a prank still under "investigation."

Despite—or perhaps because of—his pranks, Naruto brought levity to the Temple. Many found themselves laughing at the sheer audacity of his stunts. Others merely sighed in long-suffering confusion. But his actions, clever and layered with unpredictable detail, left lasting impressions.

To Revan, Naruto was more than his Padawan. He was his anchor. In a time not his own, in a galaxy he barely recognized, Naruto's presence grounded him. The boy's chaotic energy, his fierce loyalty, his boundless curiosity—all reminded Revan of the ideals he fought for in his own era. Even in frustration, Naruto's presence brought him peace.

One evening, Revan sat with Yoda in the Temple's meditation garden.

"I appreciate this," Revan said. "You've been… more patient than I expected."

Yoda chuckled. "Learn, I do, as much as teach. Your time, different it was. Attachment—openly embraced, hmm?"

"It was never without danger," Revan admitted. "But love gave Jedi strength. Duty and passion can coexist—if guided with discipline."

"Perhaps," Yoda murmured. "Wisdom in your words, there may be. Slow, the Council must move. But change, inevitable it is."

They both looked toward the horizon where Naruto trained alone, bathed in the last light of day.

That same evening, Revan passed through the outer Temple gardens and found Shaak Ti tending a row of luminescent plants. She glanced up with a small smile.

"Evening training?" she asked.

"He's getting better," Revan said. "But it's early."

Shaak Ti dusted off her hands. "You're handling it well. Not every Knight could do what you're doing."

Revan chuckled. "Some days I'm not sure I am. But Naruto believes in me. That helps."

She nodded. "If you ever need someone to train with, or just talk to, I'm around."

Their conversation was short, but the ease between them felt natural. Nothing rushed. Nothing more than a growing sense of mutual respect.

As night fell, Revan returned to their quarters, finding Naruto already asleep, curled up with his lightsaber nearby like a comfort object. One of the walls had been painted—how or when, Revan didn't know—with a stylized mural of the two of them slaying a monstrous, cartoonish krayt dragon with their sabers. Underneath, Naruto had written in messy Aurebesh: "Team Revanuto Rules!"

Revan sat quietly beside the boy and whispered, "We'll get through this together."
