Chapter 21 - Sweet Lies and Spaghetti Nights

As Matteo's vehicle pulled up to the mansion, he immediately stepped out and walked straight inside. Without hesitation, he headed to his room.

As always, Luna was on the bed, pretending to be asleep. He knew she did this every time, but he played along, acting as if he didn't notice.

With a small smirk, he quietly approached the bed, wondering how long she would keep up the act this time.

"Hey, my beautiful darling is sleeping," Matteo said as he leaned over the bed, wrapping his arms around Luna's waist. He moved closer, teasingly biting her before pulling away with a smirk. Then, without another word, he headed to the bathroom to take a shower.

When he finished, he returned to the bed, tapping Luna's leg as always. "Luna, I'm back," he said.

Luna immediately hugged him. "Welcome back, darling. I was fast asleep," she murmured.

"Yeah, sure you were," Matteo replied, amused.

"How did the meeting go?" she asked.

"It went fine," Matteo answered simply.

"But I didn't even know where you went. Where did you hold the meeting?"

"At one of my offices," Matteo said.

"Okay, okay, dear," Luna replied, not pressing further.

"Luna, you promised to make me something to eat," Matteo reminded her. "You said it was going to be spaghetti. I would have preferred something else, but since this is Italy, and spaghetti is the best, I'll settle for it."

"Yes, I did promise, and I kept my word. I made spaghetti for you," Luna said proudly.

"Then what are you waiting for? Go serve me some. I'm starving—I haven't eaten anything since morning," Matteo said.

"Don't worry, I just need to warm it a little before serving," Luna replied as she slipped on her house slippers and headed downstairs to the kitchen.

She added a little water to the spaghetti, turned on the stove, and warmed it herself. Once it was ready, she served it on a large plate—Matteo loved when they ate together from the same dish. She added a fork, making sure the spaghetti was long and perfectly twirled, then topped it with homemade meatballs. Satisfied with how it looked, she carried the plate back to their room.

This time, she didn't place it on the table; instead, she set it on the bed. They were going to eat together, just the way they liked it.

Sitting side by side, Matteo grinned. "Luna, I know this food is going to be great. I'm excited to eat it."

"What are you even saying? You say this every time," Luna laughed.

"Why can't I praise your cooking? I love praising your cooking," Matteo replied.

"No need to talk, just eat," Luna said, shaking her head.

They both dug into the spaghetti. It was hot, rich in flavor, and the noodles were perfectly long. Matteo hummed in satisfaction—just as he had expected, it was delicious.

"Matteo, you were like a kid while eating," Luna teased, giving him a playful smile.

"What do you mean by that?" Matteo frowned slightly. "Nah, I don't talk like a kid. I just say what's on my mind."

"No, no, no," Luna said, shaking her head. "Boy, you were acting just like a kid. Every time you took a bite of spaghetti, you were smiling. Only kids do that." She laughed. "And you were doing it too."

Matteo rolled his eyes but couldn't help smirking. "So what if I was smiling? Maybe I just really love your cooking."

Luna chuckled, shaking her head again. "Whatever you say, kid." She smiled at him again, enjoying the moment.
