Kilo finally took off his helmet to eat and drink before he fainted from a lack of sustenance, as he drank the water he immediately realised this water most likely contained the pathogen from LHS-1361e. He finally realised why they kept him alive instead of killing him instantly, he was now their test subject. Kilo knew the cure would protect him but the thought of being exposed to the pathogen like this terrified him although he hid this extraordinarily well.
The guards stopped attempting to sustain Kilo after this point as they thought he wouldn't survive the night. Scientists in full hazmat accompanied by guards took blood samples every hour, with no other option he had to let them continue their work. The hours ticked by until he started to feel symptoms form, it started as a slight sting in his chest before slowly making his body feel like it was on fire. It quickly dawned on him that the pathogen had been modified making the cure almost useless.
Kilo spent that night in excruciating agony just as the scientists had hoped although they didn't expect him to make it through the night. They walked into Kilo's holding room the next morning with the intent to drag his corpse out, they froze in disbelief as he stood before them.
"That all you got?" His snarky remark earned him a deathly strike from the butt of the guards rifle into his ribs forcing him to stumble backwards. "Basic training hit harder than that." He continued while fighting through the pain.
The guard winded their rifle back for another strike, just as they began to move into the strike the entire facility turned red with blaring alarms. The scientists quickly left the room with guards in tail before locking Kilo inside once again. With the guards finally gone he slumped down against the wall clutching his bruising ribs.
