The two of them returned to the entrance, where 32 was already waiting.
All along the way, Millisyn kept staring at her little crystal without taking her eyes off it.
"Amir, why are you carrying a rock out here?" she suddenly asked, noticing him at last.
"This… is there any chance it might actually be a kyber crystal?"
"What!?" Millisyn was so shocked it felt like enough for a whole year. "Th-then why is mine so small?"
"The ones used for lightsabers are usually about your size," Amir explained. "Something this big… I honestly don't know what it's for."
"Oh." Millisyn didn't dwell on it and went right back to looking at her own crystal.
"Amir, why is there a crack inside my crystal?" After thinking about it for a long while, she finally asked.
Only then did Amir really look closely at the crystal in her hand.
"Let me see."
Taking it from her, Amir discovered that there really was a thin red line inside the crystal, making the blue crystal look somewhat strange.
He examined it over and over for quite a while. This kyber crystal gave him a very unusual feeling, but he couldn't clearly explain why. In the end, he could only hand it back to Millisyn.
"It really does have a crack, and something strange has happened to it. I don't know if it can still be used to make a lightsaber."
"What?! No way! It definitely can! It was the one that guided me! I worked so hard to find it—it definitely can!" Millisyn said, staring straight into Amir's eyes.
Seeing the look on her face, Amir smiled.
"Keep it. If you believe it can, then it definitely can."
Millisyn hadn't chosen disappointment. She hadn't wanted to give up on this crystal and go search for another one. She had chosen to believe in it.
Then Amir would support her too.
Kyber crystals weren't as fragile as people imagined. On the contrary, they were extremely tough—even stronger than most alloys—so the crack inside was probably not damage caused by impact or something similar, but an impurity formed during the crystal's growth.
Amir had never heard of a case like this.
Then again, he hadn't heard of most cases involving kyber crystals.
The only thing he could do was go back and ask Obi-Wan.
What Amir could do for now was try his best to design a lightsaber blueprint for Millisyn that would better match this kyber crystal, so it could be activated successfully.
After hearing Amir's words, Millisyn became cheerful again. She held the crystal in both hands, turning it this way and that, clearly loving it.
"32, what about your crystal?"
At that, 32 took two small crystals out of his pocket. Compared to Millisyn's, his were much more normal.
"You found two?" Amir asked.
"Mm. They grew together."
Amir thought for a moment. "You used a double-bladed lightsaber in training before, right?"
"Mm."
"Then I know what style your lightsaber should be. Ha."
"The next step is designing the lightsabers. I'll draw up plans based on what you want and prepare the parts. So think about what kind of lightsaber you want—materials, appearance, everything. The one that suits you best is the best one," Amir said.
"Hehehe…" Millisyn drifted into some happy fantasy and started giggling foolishly.
32 looked at his crystals thoughtfully.
The three of them quickly returned to the ship.
After takeoff, Amir recorded the coordinates of this crystal cave before leaving.
Ilum was probably under Imperial surveillance too.
This time, they had been lucky and found a safe cave.
In the future, new younglings would surely come here to build their first lightsabers. Recording the location of this cave would help prepare for that.
Coruscant
A solemn, majestic palace.
A figure in black robes sat upon a massive throne.
He was the peak of power in the galaxy, the one true Emperor: Darth Sidious.
There was no one beside him. At that moment, he was looking at the holoprojector before him.
Projected upon it was a man entirely encased in black armor, kneeling on one knee, his heavy breathing audible.
"What is it, my master?"
Darth Sidious looked at this creation wrought by his own hands, and a smile spread across the aged face beneath his hood.
"I have seen your old master—Obi-Wan Kenobi."
Darth Vader froze for a moment, then raised his head. "Do you need me to find him?"
"No. No, my powerful apprentice. As you said, Obi-Wan is not important. We already possess everything." The Sith Emperor paused. "But there is one thing—Obi-Wan's new apprentice, Amir. He is what I want."
"Tell your Inquisitors: at any cost, find him and bring him before me!"
Darth Vader replied with respect, "Yes, my master."
With that, Darth Sidious rose and walked outside.
He passed down a bright, luxurious corridor and arrived at the entrance to a room. Slowly pushing the door open, he looked at the person inside.
"Boris Ascot. You must have something to say to me."
Boris, slumped in the corner of the room, looked like a dried corpse. Tangled hair. Beard stained with filth. Ragged clothes.
He opened his mouth slightly, but no words came out.
"We were old friends once. We pursued the same things—the same great goal. And yet you turned away from that path," Sidious said, standing perfectly still, his smile growing more and more cruel. "You will remain here forever, until you understand what it is you must do."
With a casual wave of his hand, two agents behind him stepped forward and lifted Boris up.
They intended to keep him healthy.
That way, he could experience endless pain.
Archives Chamber
The Grand Inquisitor sat attentively at his desk, both hands resting flat upon it just as his teachers had made him do when he was a child.
Before him was a Sith holorecord containing secret ancient history.
Times had changed. Now, every scrap of information in the archives was open to him.
He was no longer like that humble Jedi he used to be, whose curiosity and hunger for knowledge had always been crushed by that old woman in the Jedi Archives.
He had pleaded again and again for access.
The answer had always been no.
But the Jedi were history now. He possessed power. As Grand Inquisitor, he also held immense authority. And most importantly, every archive was his to consult freely.
Forbidden knowledge. Buried history. The hidden secrets of ancient powers.
He almost wished he could live here forever.
And Jocasta Nu—that pitiful woman—would never again see the archives she had guarded for half her life. She could only be buried along with the Jedi Order.
If Millisyn ever learned what he was thinking, she would probably be awestruck—like a hopeless poor student gazing up at the perfect scholar.
Just then, the communicator beside him sounded.
He was about to see which blind fool had dared interrupt his studies, but the moment he turned, he saw a figure shrouded in black armor.
It was his greatest fear.
The Grand Inquisitor immediately stood up, straightened himself, and accepted the holocall.
Heavy breathing filled the air. Looking at the Grand Inquisitor's deeply lowered head, the figure spoke:
"I have a task for you."
