Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 (World of Dark Souls (4))

Scene 1 – Conversations & Crushes (Inside the Ship)

"Ron, where the hell did you come from in the middle of a battlefield?" Carter asked, half-laughing.

I smirked. "I had something to take care of nearby. Picked up on your Ki and thought I'd drop by."

"Drop by and wreck an army?" Carter grinned. "Thanks for coming. You've seriously powered up—especially your speed. I could barely see you hitting those things."

"By the way," I said, "did you know those creatures drop an item called an 'ORG'? It's said to grant rare, destructive abilities. Some even say it can make you immortal."

"I've heard the rumors," Carter replied. "One of our goals was to retrieve one. But if I'm not mistaken, only the boss drops it?"

"You're not wrong," I said.

Suddenly, I heard approaching footsteps echo down the hallway.

"Excuse me," a voice said.

I turned. A woman stood there, wearing the uniform of Carter's department. Confident posture. Sharp eyes. Short black hair.

"You must be Ron. It's an honor to meet you, sir. I'm Lia—same division as Carter."

"The honor's mine," I said. "You risk your life for Hero Town. That earns respect."

Lia smiled. "Carter and I go way back. Seventh grade. We've worked together nearly a decade."

I chuckled. "Yeah, I've heard a lot about you from Carter."

She blinked and looked at Carter. "You… talk about me?"

Carter frowned. "I don't remember saying anything to Ron."

I smirked. "You two make a good pair."

I meant it as a joke—but both their faces flushed red. They looked away from each other.

It was just the three of us in the room, but now I knew: Lia liked him.

I decided to give them some space.

 Scene 2 – The Dream

"Well, if you'll excuse me," I said, heading to my quarters.

I lay down, closed my eyes, and slipped into sleep almost instantly.

Then—darkness.

I stood in infinite space. Stars flickered faintly in the distance, but the emptiness felt… alive. Tiny crystals—no bigger than pen tips—appeared around me, multiplying and stretching across the void like veins.

Suddenly, a blinding white flash consumed everything.

Now I was surrounded by pages—countless sheets of parchment floating in all directions. In the center, a single clear "window" opened, revealing galaxies, stars, and endless creation.

Words formed in the void:

> [THOSE CRYSTALS ARE TIMELINES]

I tried to move, but nothing responded. I could only speak.

"Who are you? Show yourself! Why the hell am I seeing this?!"

> [RON WANNA KNOW WHO I AM?]

"Yes! Ron wants to know. Now SHOW YOURSELF!"

> [BUT RON IS NOT READY YET]

"What the hell is this…"

Then I heard her voice.

"You're not ready. The power is too much for you to handle."

I spun around.

A woman floated in midair, bathed in soft, glowing light. Everything around her turned black as she approached. Her presence felt… familiar. Like someone I once knew.

"So… you've finally awoken from your slumber," she said.

"What slumber?! And who are you?" I demanded.

She looked sad. "I don't remember my real name. My memories are broken. But you can call me Dream."

She floated closer. "You went into slumber 800 years ago, Ron. I knew you wouldn't remember."

"What the hell are you babbling about—?"

She touched my forehead.

A storm of memories exploded in my mind.

Flashes of destruction. Blood pouring from my eyes. Wings. Horns. Lightning crackling from my fingers. Telekinesis. Death. Screams. My childhood drenched in carnage.

The memories were too much.

I screamed. Blood streamed from my eyes, mouth, nose.

Dream rushed to me, placed her glowing hand on my face.

"I'm sorry. I knew you couldn't handle it. Your past… is horrible."

Her touch felt so familiar. So warm. We shared something deep—I knew her.

Then, another voice returned:

> [RON IS WEAK]

"Shut up!" I roared.

"Ron, stop!" Dream cried. "You'll make him angry!"

> [STUPID RON]

I could barely stand, but I forced the words out:

"Who… or what the hell are you?! I'll kill you all if I have to!"

And then—

I woke up.

Scene 3 – Mind Games and Warnings

I opened my eyes and saw Carter and others standing around me.

"What happened?" I asked.

"You were screaming," Carter said. "When we came in, you were drenched in blood. We brought you to the infirmary."

I chuckled, weakly. "Sorry for the trouble."

"You had a nightmare or something?" Carter asked.

"Yeah… something like that." I tossed them my backpack. "Here. Take anything you need. It's infinite space—you just have to imagine the item. David Degg built it."

Suddenly, I saw something in the air. Glowing letters—just like in the dream:

> [LIA IS TRYING TO LOOK INSIDE YOUR MIND]

It was only visible to me.

A pulse of electricity burst from me.

It slammed Lia across the room.

Her mind ability was canceled. Temporarily shut down.

Everyone panicked and rushed toward her.

"Lia, are you okay?" I asked.

She looked at me, stunned. Her face filled with disbelief.

I hadn't known she had mental abilities.

> (She was trying to read my mind…)

> [HAHAHA… IT WON'T WORK]

"Lia, what happened?" Carter asked.

"Nothing. I just need rest," she muttered, glaring at me—and walked out of the room.
