Maya:
I stood transfixed as Aiden Jabari declared me his wife in front of all these people with their flashy camera lights. I should know better by now that I was going to be the talk of the entire media in a couple of minutes.
It's a good thing, I thought but why do I feel this sense of uneasiness and mixed emotions all at once? I should be happy, right?
With the news going all around, Xavier would know not to mess with me now that I am a billionaire's wife and not just any kind of billionaire, I mean Aiden freaking Jabari the hottest and the youngest wealthy business tycoon in the entire world.
My mind immediately began to race with multiple scenarios all at once. What if Xavier comes out and threatens me further? No, no, he wouldn't dare!
No one would even believe him if he came out to claim me and it would become so messy for him if I finally exposed him. I just hope he remains in hiding and continues sending all his minions, so Aiden could deal with them.
As the crowd stared at me, I felt a sense of confidence and drive within me. I flung my hair gracefully and carried my shoulders up like I was on top of the world.
If I need to keep myself safe until this governorship election is over, I should better start acting like Maya Moore Jabari, just as everyone sees me soon enough.
"Mrs Jabari, Mrs Jabari." The crowd murmured between themselves and I could see tons of them wanting to cloud us with thousands of questions.
Thankfully, Aiden security men guarded us and finally, we were able to hop into Aiden's car. Aiden stared at me with a glint of happiness in his eyes. "What?" I queried.
"No. Not…nothing." He stammered.
I glared at him for about a few seconds before I finally let it go. "Okay," I muttered.
The car engine started and we were on our way. I tapped my feet nervously in the car as I wanted to ask him loads of questions like what part of Florida are we headed to, I didn't just want to be carried around like a lost puppy.
He glanced at me and kept his eyes on the road. "We are going to Miami, Indian Creeks to be precise." He said to me as if he already read my mind.
I nodded my head slowly and looked away and it immediately dawned on me, I didn't had nothing on m, no clothes, absolutely nothing so I became tense. "I..I…" I coughed.
"You what?" Aiden questioned.
I threw my head on the car seat and covered my face shamefully. "I don't have anything on me," I replied.
Aiden wore a straight face and focused his attention on the road. "And who said you needed your old stuff? they won't even fit into my lifestyle. He said in a cold tone.
"Huh?"
"I can get you whatever you want. I am a fucking billionaire. " He drawled.
Oh, silly me!
I chuckled awkwardly at the height of my stupidity. Just then, we got to the airport and it was pretty late. Three hefty men walked Aiden and me to the jet and in a couple of minutes, we took off.
I couldn't help but wonder that Aiden Jabari came from Indian Creek, Miami to ask me, a little orphan girl, to be his wife. I think it is high time I start giving myself a lot of credit.
I had a broad smile on my face as the plane flew in the sky. I remembered Xavier's promises to me when our love was still young and bursting.
He promised to take me to Miami on a plane and we would visit interesting places and lounge in the most expensive hotels but it all seemed to be fairytales now.
Five years, five years of thinking that I was the one with the problem in our relationship, only for me to realize that Xavier Thompson was a cheat and a mastermind criminal.
I felt foolish, too foolish to think he was the one. Though he was my first love, I couldn't help but notice the red flags that I tended to ignore all those years.
I loved him to the moon and back to the extent that I was so optimistic that he was the one. We did almost everything together and it didn't take long before I willingly gave myself to him.
Xavier was an orphan just like me and we had so much in common that we couldn't wait to build a home and a new life together. I put so much trust in Xavier that it took me a few days to swallow the thought of my boyfriend being a highly wanted criminal.
I had just returned home on that very late afternoon and I was so exhausted. The elevator door to our apartment slid open and immediately I walked out. "Xavy babe…" I said silently but halted as I was welcomed by female sensitive wear all littered on the floor. At first, my heart wanted to believe it was mine but there was no possible way my brain would approve that.
I followed the trace of the littered clothes bit by bit till it stopped right in front of our bedroom door. The door was slightly opened and God! I could hear all the sexual passionate moans that constantly flew across the air.
My stomach churned with a mixture of confusion and dread as my footsteps faltered and my anticipation of being in my boyfriend's arms was replaced with a cold feeling.
"Harder! Fuvk Damn it! Xavier!"
I heard a satisfied grunt followed by a lady moaning and a very familiar voice asking her if she enjoyed every bit of it.
"Xavier, today's sex wasn't that promising of our future sex together. Aren't you trying out new styles with your stupid little weak-ass girlfriend?" The lady's voice blurted out and my heart squeezed.
She even knew he had a girlfriend and I am just used to trying new styles with Xavier so he could use it to satisfy this bitch!
Xavier hissed and I heard him smack her ass while she moaned sharply. "Don't worry, I promise the next sex date would be mind-blowing. I would make sure to prepare well with the idiot so you can have the best."
I covered my mouth with my hands and hot tears streamed down my eyes. "Xavier…." my voice faltered above a whisper.
As I wanted to barge into the room angrily, Xavier's phone rang and he immediately picked it up. "Hey, you coming up now?" He said to the person over the phone.
I was wondering who it might be, was it another woman or something? I peeped through the slightly opened door and I could see him walking towards the door with the lady behind him with my duvet wrapped around her body.
Xavier halted and turned to face the lady. "Stop, don't come out, it is not safe." He said and suddenly, I became confused.
The lady was reluctant for a while but later agreed. I was so scared of the way Xavier spoke about who so ever coming up the elevator. As I was trying to put myself together, the elevator door beeped like something or someone was coming up.
Just then, Xavier pulled out a gun, and my heart jumped into my mouth. Xavier, with a gun?! My mind screamed at me.
As Xavier approached the door, I rushed into the room just a little down along the hallway that faced directly to the living room. I opened it slightly to peep and see who the guest was and why the hell Xavier had a gun with him.
The elevator door opened and right before my eyes were four hefty brutally looking men who walked into our living room. They sat on the couch and tossed things around like they were quite familiar with the surroundings.
It made me wonder, have they been here before?
One of them pulled their masks off. "Yo, Boss, did the little girlie make something nice today as usual?" He said to Xavier.
"Little girl?" I muttered silently.
"Yeah, she did. Dragon, Go check the kitchen." Xavier beckoned him.
"Aiit." He replied.
As the guy walked past the living room to the kitchen, I caught a glimpse of his face, and I froze in fear. "Dragon… where have I heard that name before." I shook in complete anxiety.
"Jesus, he was part of the fucking gangs that orchestrated multiple heists across the state." My mind screamed.
What was Xavier doing with these people?
The other three guys sat comfortably on the couch and pulled out their guns as they had just returned from war. "Boss, we have made all the necessary arrangements, the strike on the Vice President will happen in five days at exactly sixteen hundred." One of them said to Xavier.
"Heist on the Vice President and Boss? Why the hell are they calling Xavier, boss?" I thought, It clicked right to me and I gasped.
"Holy shit!"
