CHAPTER 5
LEONARDO'S POV
I took a sip from my Absinthe and let out a satisfying sigh as it hit the spot. Nothing tastes good than an anise-flavored and extremely strong spirit to lift your day after having a shity day. I took another sip and what had happened the whole day crowded my thoughts.
"Isla Romano" the name rolled out of the mouth weighted with anger and hate.
She was the first woman to ever talk to me in such a manner. First woman? First of all, I had never been insulted in such a way before by anybody. Nobody would dare talk to me in such manner but she did.
I had only met her once and I was pushed to the limit. No one was capable of making me so pissed off but this… Isla was just the devil's pawn.
I had heard enough of her so I had no other choice than to give her back the job. Trust me I was not scared of her threat and I could call the security to send her out of my office but there was something in her eyes, I just didn't understand what they were and I knew for sure she wouldn't back down in a fight. And the last thing I wanted was having a crazy psychopath dragging me everywhere on the internet. It was fucking annoying.
"Leonardo De Luca" her words echoed in my head and I let out soft groans.
Was she sent by someone? What did they promise her? No matter what she was promised I was sure of one thing and that was the fact that she had a death wish. Nothing more, nothing less.
If not, why would she treat me in such a manner? Does she have no idea who I was? I could end her with the snap of my fingers! Is she that ignorant?
I hated the fact that just one woman made me so restless, I just could not understand why I could not forget about her and the thought of seeing her again tomorrow made me feel anxious. I just couldn't help it and one thing I hated was feeling helpless. Not even in the smallest way.
"Leo" I heard the familiar voice of my right-hand man called, and it tore me out of my thoughts. My eye drafted quickly to where the sound was coming from and like I had thought it was Luca Ricci.
My infamous right-hand man, tall, broad-shouldered, dark hair roughly scattered on his face covering those gray eyes of his, he had a rugged beard and with all the hair one could mistake him as bigfoot.
He was my right-hand man. Everybody knows him, except people in the outside world of course. They had no idea who he was.
"Shoot" I answered, there was no way he would come up here to my VIP lounge without having anything important to say. He knows better not to disturb my peace.
"We found him, he was found in one of the underground casinos" he stated, his voice steady and I let out a scoff.
"I guess he wants to double the money he stole from me" I answered as a smile played on my lips as I traced my finger on the glass, anger boiled within me.
"That bastard" I resorted as I clenched my jaws.
"He is in the room, give me your order I will take care of him" he replied and I chuckled.
He was right, all he needed was a go-ahead from me and he would take care of that bastard for me but today, I would do it myself.
"Luca, I will take care of that bastard myself" I answered and stood up as I proceeded to leave but stopped mid-way and turned to him who had also stopped.
"Isla Romano, find out who she is" I instructed and with that, I walked out of the door and headed straight to the garage as he followed behind me.
************************************************************************************************
I walked into the room slowly like a predator stalking prey. The room was dimly lit with fluorescent lights, the walls seemed to absorb the faint light which made the room seem void.
The air was thick with decay, sweat, blood and fear. My eyes fell on Spencer, a young-looking guy with piercing blue eyes that were enveloped with fear when he saw me, a smirk curved on my face when I saw his face mirrored the expression of fear.
"That's more like it, fear. That's exactly how they feel when I step into the room" I thought as I approached him.
He was a fine man the last time I remembered but his face had been brutally repaired, his lips were busted and blood dripped slowly from it, the left side of his eye had a big dark spot around it and his face was swollen.
There was no doubt Luca and the boys had done a whole lot on him even before I arrived, it was a miracle he was still breathing. Although his breath was unstable and heavy, he was alive, even if I couldn't guarantee how long he would live.
He had such poor luck, he just had to be caught on a day like this. One day Isla messed up my day. I'm not the type to be merciful on a good day but on a bad day? That was just the worst day you want to get on my bad side.
Don't worry you will understand why I said so. I got closer to him, stopping a few steps away from him as I eyed him from head down to his toes. My emotions were cold and unfazed.
"Please forgive me. Give me three days I will pay you back I promise" he murmured and I had barely heard what he was saying.
"Tsk, Spener… you thought I came all the way here to grant your wish?" I asked my voice husky and cold.
His eyes flashed with fear and I could sense dread in his eyes as he shook his head in terror.
"Please…. one more chance" he sobbed as the tears rolled down his eyes and I burst into laughter.
Of course, I could be a little bit of a psychopath when the sun goes down.
