After parking the car, Heeyeon stepped out and asked Daehyuk, "Why… is it an amusement park?"
"Isn't it a good place for a date? Heeyeon, have you ever been to one before?"
"…Never."
"Huh? Really?"
Although he had asked casually, he blinked in surprise at her answer.
"Not even once? You didn't go as a student?"
"In the first place, I spent most of my time in academies. I was told I had to grow up cultured."
"What kind of academies?"
"Study academies. I also learned music and swimming."
"Swimming?"
"My mother's hobby is swimming."
As she spoke, her expression remained somber.
"It was always school or academy. There was no time or need to go out and play."
'Still, I was lucky to have met Seorina in high school.'
"You worked really hard as a student, Heeyeon."
"I think so too. But honestly… most of what I learned back then doesn't feel useful now."
'Because now, all I'm expected to do is give birth to and raise Jisan's child. But why do I keep answering his questions so easily?'
As she started questioning herself, he smiled brightly and said,
"Still, it's an honor."
"Huh? What is it?"
"Nothing specific."
He grinned and winked at her.
"I mean, I'm your first amusement park date, right?"
"What…!"
"Come on, let's go, Heeyeon. I'll give you the best amusement park experience today!"
He grabbed her hand and pulled her along.
"Wait a minute! Let go of my hand! I can walk by myself!"
"But it's a date. Can't we walk hand in hand? I like holding hands with you."
"Ugh…!"
'The director is seriously… What is he even saying!?'
She wanted to protest, but the embarrassment was too overwhelming. For some reason, she couldn't bring herself to argue.
Without pulling her hand away, Heeyeon walked alongside Daehyuk.
The two of them bought free passes and entered the amusement park.
"So this is an amusement park…"
She looked around blankly at the medieval kingdom-themed park.
When she was younger, she had seen amusement parks on TV and always wanted to visit one.
But she never had the chance. Even as a child, her time was consumed by private tutoring and academy schedules.
From an early age, she had a housekeeper and was enrolled in gifted education programs from kindergarten onward. Her entire life had been structured to meet one goal: to become someone who could marry into a prestigious family.
That's why Heeyeon felt a sense of unfamiliarity during her first visit to an amusement park.
Because of her secret relationship with Seorina, they had always avoided going far. She had to be back before Kim Jisan returned from work.
Their dates were limited to nearby places.
But for Heeyeon, just being with Seorina had made her happy. She never thought about visiting places she longed to see as a child—like an amusement park.
"So, what should we ride first?"
"I don't know."
'How would I know? I didn't even know we were coming here.'
"Then~ how about the carousel?"
"What? I'm not a kid! It's just a merry-go-round!"
"Adults ride carousels too. Didn't you know? Look over there."
He pointed toward the ride. Couples, along with children, were enjoying the carousel together, showing affection as they rode.
"See? I'm right, aren't I?"
"Tsk. Fine! Say whatever you want."
"It looks fun."
"I said I'm fine!"
Even as she insisted, Heeyeon couldn't help glancing at the carousel.
She had never ridden one as a child. Now, standing in front of it, curiosity stirred in her heart. She had only seen it on TV before.
Daehyuk could clearly see her interest.
'If I suggest a few other rides, she'll probably say she wants to try them too.'
"Alright, then how about something else? Heeyeon, are you okay with thrill rides?"
"I don't know. I've never tried one."
"Then let's start with that one. It's a beginner-friendly mini gyro drop!"
"A mini gyro drop?"
He pointed to a relatively small gyro drop ride.
It was designed for people who were afraid of intense rides or for young children trying them for the first time.
"Let's try that first. If you enjoy it, we can go for something more exciting."
"…Okay."
It wasn't a childish ride, so she agreed.
Heeyeon nodded and followed him toward the mini gyro drop.
...…..
...…..
"Ah ah ahhhhh!"
As the mini gyro drop plunged, Heeyeon let out a loud scream.
The sudden drop, followed by an abrupt stop, created a rush that hit all at once. Her reflexive scream echoed clearly in Daehyuk's ears.
'I guess that was more thrilling than I thought?'
While she screamed, Daehyuk remained silent, simply watching her profile with amusement.
After the ride, she stepped off with her head lowered. Daehyuk approached her immediately.
"Heeyeon, are you alright? I just thought we'd enjoy the festival without anything too intense…"
"Director."
She called him firmly and looked up.
"Huh?"
Her eyes were sparkling with excitement.
"Can I ride it one more time?"
"One more time? If you want to, of course."
'So she's the type who actually enjoys thrill rides?'
Respecting her enthusiasm, he joined her in line again, and they rode the mini gyro drop a second time.
"Aaaaah!"
This time, her scream wasn't from fear—it sounded more like pure joy.
After the second ride, Heeyeon's eyes sparkled even brighter.
"The mini gyro drop… It's really fun!"
"Glad to hear it."
'She's tougher than I expected.'
"Then maybe just one more time…"
"Heeyeon, it's great that you're having fun, but there are more exciting things here too. Let's try something else."
Realizing she might have gotten carried away, she blushed slightly.
"Oh, right. So… what are we riding next?"
"That one looks thrilling. Let's give it a try."
Daehyuk led her to the Viking ride.
"Oh ah ah ah ah ah!"
Even on the Viking, Heeyeon shouted with joy. The thrill made her laugh, and her excitement was infectious. Watching her, he couldn't help but enjoy it too.
"Next, let's try the roller coaster."
"Yes!"
He then guided her through a series of thrilling rides—roller coasters, larger gyro drops, and even water slides.
"Oh ah ah ah ah ah!"
Each time, Heeyeon screamed, but it was always with joy.
"Ha… ha… Director! Let's go on something else! Let's try more!"
Already fresh off another ride, her eyes sparkled like a child discovering a world of fun.
"Heeyeon, take a little break. You've been going nonstop."
"I'm fine."
"Still, we've got plenty of time. Let's take it slow. And don't you feel a little hungry after all that excitement? Let's grab a snack at least."
"I'm still okay…"
Just then, her stomach let out a soft growl.
"Ugh!"
She blushed and quickly covered her stomach with both hands.
"Heeyeon, do you want some churros?"
"T-This…!"
"As expected, you're too cute."
"Huh?! What are you even saying…!"
Her face turned red again, this time from a different kind of embarrassment.
He gently took her hand, the one she had used to hide her stomach.
"Let's go eat."
"Ugh…"
She tried to protest, but her earlier flustered reaction had left her too embarrassed to say much. So, without letting go of his hand, she followed after him.
"Churros. They're really good."
Eventually, she took a bite of the churro Daehyuk handed her. She chewed slowly, then gave a small nod of appreciation.
"Is this your first time eating churros?"
"Yes."
'I guess she really was raised in a strict environment.'
Heeyeon had never even had the chance to enjoy simple snacks because she was always focused on her studies.
Despite that, she had no intention of quitting her job as an assistant.
As she sat on a bench, eating churros, he asked her,
"What do you think? Isn't the amusement park fun?"
"It's definitely fun. Now I understand why people like it so much."
"If you want to come again, I'll bring you."
"What's next?"
"We are going to be around for a long time, right?"
"For a long time… Don't say that."
Though she said it to deny it, deep down she felt a flutter in her heart at his words.
"I'm serious."
'I can't take this anymore!'
A lump formed in her chest.
Curiosity about Daehyuk's changed attitude mixed with frustration from not having a clear answer.
Holding the bag of churros tightly, still feeling the thrill from the day, she asked, "Ugh… Director! You keep saying that! It sounds like you like me!"
"Yes. So what?"
"What?!"
"How many times have I told you that you're cute? How many times do you think I'd say that to someone I didn't like?"
"Uh, well… uh…"
She was speechless at his confident words. She wanted to deny it but couldn't.
Calmly, he dismissed her attempts to resist.
"You're thinking, 'Does he really like me? The director wants me? That can't be true…'"
Flustered, Heeyeon stammered nonsense.
"What's wrong?"
He sat beside her, gently wrapped his arms around her, and whispered softly in her ear.
"I like you, Heeyeon. I want to get to know everything about you."
"Ugh…!"
Heeyeon had grown up without enough affection in her childhood. She had never received proper love from her husband either.
That was why she deeply cherished the affection Seorina gave her—affection she had longed for herself.
She was desperate for that kind of love.
Her heart began to beat softly, filled with a quiet longing for affection.
