Adam stood in front of a cafe in a new disguise.
This face was not Wil's face. It was not the face he had used in prison either. His hair looked shorter and darker. His skin tone was slightly different. Thin glasses covered his eyes, and his clothes made him look like a quiet office worker who had come out after work.
A few minutes later, Leo walked toward him.
Adam raised one hand.
Leo slowed for a second, then smiled.
"So," Leo said, "who am I killing this time?"
Adam's eyes paused.
He had been ready to say that Wil had sent him.
Before he could speak, Leo looked him up and down.
"Tell me the work, Wil." Leo ask.
Adam's expression did not change, but he was surprised.
"I am not Wil."
Leo gave a small laugh.
"I do not care what face you wear," he said. "I am not even sure the face you used when you came to the prison was real."
He shrugged.
"It does not matter to me. You give work, and you give money. That is enough."
Adam looked at him for a moment.
