He allowed his sister to return to the province for the school camp trip. He could no longer stop Thalia from leaving.
"Thalia, call me if you need help." That was all he could say to his sister.
Thalia simply nodded. He wasn't able to accompany her due to his current undercover work.
If anything goes wrong and I can't control the situation, I'll have to act to protect Thalia, he thought.
"Are you really okay going alone, Ta?" Jenny asked her.
Thalia offered a faint smile. "Don't worry, sis. I'll be careful."
They needed to take Thalia to the bus that would bring her to her chosen destination.
"Take care, sis," was all Greg said.
Felix watched Thalia nod, then wrap her arms around Greg. He ruffled Greg's hair—he knew how close the two were.
"I'll contact you anytime, Tal."
"Yes, brother," Thalia replied softly.
They accompanied her to the bus. For the first time, he let one of his siblings ride alone to a faraway place.
His siblings weren't children anymore. Felix clenched his fists, remembering how quickly time passed after their parents died. He'd been lost, unsure how to raise them and provide for their needs.
He sighed. As Thalia boarded the bus, his eyes caught sight of someone.
"Brother," Jenny whispered, seeming to notice the same thing.
They saw Jake—and Chesca.
"Let's go," Felix said flatly.
When he wasn't in disguise, he didn't involve himself in the personal affairs of Fuego or Roman. His sister just nodded and followed.
Once home, he needed to prepare for another mission. His undercover work had nothing to do with this—but the feeling of urgency lingered.
"Jen," he called to his sister.
She looked up.
"Tell me what you saw in your premonition." It was a gentle reminder.
The visions, the warnings—he couldn't shake them.
"We need to help Thalia, even if we're far away."
"Yes, brother," Jenny replied, her voice tight.
Felix knew Jenny was deeply worried, so to comfort her, he gently messed up her hair.
"When is your semestral break, Jenny?" he asked, hoping to shift the mood.
"After my exam tomorrow. The break starts right after."
He nodded quietly.
"Don't worry about your sister. She's strong—just like you. That bravery runs in both of you."
"Are we really brave, brother?" Jenny asked, her voice tinged with sadness.
He saw the regret in her eyes.
Felix didn't answer. He simply sighed. He knew what Jenny meant—they'd been hiding for so long. Seeking refuge in the shadows of the past, unable to move forward.
Once again, he ruffled her hair without a word and walked toward his room.
I really have to face my karma, Fernan, he thought bitterly.
He opened a drawer to take something when his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and sighed before answering.
"Felix, come here for a moment," said a voice on the other end—urgent and brisk.
He gave a slight nod, though he didn't speak. Dressed in simple clothes, as he usually wore when undercover, he made his way out.
"Brother? Where are you going?" Jenny asked as he passed.
"I just have something to take care of," he replied quietly.
Without looking back, he left.
"Be careful going to school, Jenny," he added before disappearing down the road.
Felix walked toward a secluded path known only to him, one not often visited by others. A car waited there.
He sighed and approached it, knocking three times before opening the door and slipping inside.
Zenne sat behind the wheel.
"Why did Jake call?" Felix asked.
"You've heard about what happened to the Dionson family, right?" Zenne began.
"Yeah. Why?" Felix crossed his arms, bracing for more.
"Chesca blames herself for what happened. She decided to return to the scene," Zenne said.
Felix turned to him, surprised.
So the one who'll be with my sister... is Chesca?
"Was your premonition accurate, Felix?" Zenne asked.
Felix stared at him. "My sister Thalia is there," he answered simply.
"Thalia? What's she doing there?" Zenne asked, startled.
Felix sighed. "Just drive, Zenne. We'll talk on the way. Thalia and another student will be joining Chesca."
Zenne said no more and began driving.
My premonition… it's happening again, Felix thought.
He had to talk to Chesca about Thalia's involvement.
"Zenne," he said quietly.
Zenne glanced at him through the side mirror.
"Please look out for Thalia. If things turn bad, save her companions," Felix said solemnly.
Zenne sighed at the heavy favor. He knew that Thalia's path had already crossed with Giovane's—and that thought alone kept Felix awake at night. He hadn't seen the full picture yet, but he knew enough to take every precaution.
"Does Vince know Thalia is involved?" Zenne asked.
"I haven't called him. I know he's working on his own mission."
"He needs to know, Felix," Zenne pressed.
"I know."
After a while, they arrived at Roman's mansion. Felix got out immediately while Zenne parked the car in a hidden spot nearby.
They had to stay cautious. Giovane's minions could be watching.
