"Hey what new songs can we do?"
"We need two more."
"I know Ambarsarriya."
"Okay one more to go."
"Fine and the last can be Beha Chala."
"Done let's write them down."
"As per the instrumental music we will do the one we played in the interschool competition the previous month. We will tell you what to play Chandni."
Once we went to get them approved. This so exciting for some reason. Just then the bell rang. We entered the faculty room to look at Tanishq Sir's timetable.
"Hey what are you kids doing here?" Asked Raghav sir who is our Physics teacher
"Sir we are looking for Tanisq sir."
"What for exactly?"
"Sir we have to get the songs we have selected for annual day approved."
"Oh! He is in chemistry lab."
"Thank you sir."
I am pretty sure that when he saw Aarush he thought we were on a bunk but when he looked at Manan and me he felt that we must really be doing something important. He sees me and Manan as very responsible. There are very few introverts in our class Manan and I are one of them. And maybe he just sees introverts as the most responsible creatures ever. He never really shows it but everybody knows he isn't exactly very fond of Aarush.
Now we entered Chemistry lab and found Tanisq sir showing some practical to tenth graders. Oh wait! That girl I have seen her! She is the girl from the bookstore. I surely do know her. She's the one who always greets me with a smile and also is very bad at Maths. She was talking to a girl with long brown hair. They were giggling about something. Finally she looked up and our eyes made contact for exactly 10 seconds before it bacame too awkward to just stare at them. In a way I wanted to approach her in a way I didn't. I definitely wanted to become her friend but I also respected the fact that she might like to keep her job a secret. Maybe her family was struggling or something and that's something you definitely don't want your classmates to know. Also being an introverts I really don't know how to approach other people.
"Whoa Chandni what are you staring at let's go." Said Rudraksh
"Jeez. You are always spacing out sometimes try to be in the moment."
"Um hum.."
As I left I looked at her one more time. In the end it is better I don't approach her the lesser I talk to people the safer they will be.
We entered the music room.
"So what did Tanisq sir say exactly?"
"He approved them."
"I am actually surprised. The previous year there was this teacher, she would not approve any song. I think she retired."
"Well good for us I don't exactly like that teacher, she removed songs just because they had a slight hint of rommance."
"To think ninty percent of the songs we are performing are love songs yet he didn't even question them."
"Oh I like Tanishq sir he is neither too strict and nor too lenient."
"Yeah, infact he is nice to me when I write all the apology letters you know."
"Bro Aarush! You are insane!"
"That I am."
"Anyways guys let's decide the sequence of the songs."
"Okay first let's divide them in group a, b and c. A being the softest songs to c being the fastest."
"Group a should have Behe Chala."
"Khamoshiyan, Jeena Jeena."
"And of course Raabta."
"Group b can have Raang sharbaton ka."
"Zindagi Kuch Toh Bata."
"Baanjara!"
"Whoa bro calm down no body is skipping Banjaara."
"As per group c it should have Ambarrsariyan and Ek Vaari Aa."
"Last one Zindagi ek Safar Sohana."
"I think we should start with khamoshiyan."
"Then there should Behe Chala."
"Then Jeena Jeena."
"No there should be a song in between them."
"Like Raabta?"
"K then comes group B starting with-"
"Zindagi Kuch Toh Bata."
"Followed by Raang Sharbaton Ka."
"No guys it should start with Banjaara."
"Then group c comes starting with Ambarsarriya."
"Ik Vaari Aa."
"Ending with the classic Zindagi Ek Safar."
"Okay let me write it down."
"Done."
"Now let's start."
"I think in the first song we all should slowly join."
"Begins with Keyboard."
"Guitar will join just like the real version."
"Then the singers join in the line Kahamoshiyan Ek saaj Hai tum sune Toh ao kabhi."
"Violin comes in chukkar tumhe khill jaayengi Ghar inko bulaao kabhi."
"Finally the flute comes on bekarer hain baat karne ko khennedo ink Zara..."
"Siddhanth I think you have learned this song."
"Yeah!"
"Play the music."
"Chandni do you know the chords?"
"Yes!"
"Vioiln guy!"
"Manan!"
"Manu....."
"Manan!"
"Man an..."
"Manan!"
"Huh! Manan do you know this?
"Well a little."
"Assistant flute!"
"No I don't know this one. Wait I am not your assistant!"
"Is there a song that everybody here knows? I know Raabta, Kahmoshiya, Banjaara,Ik Vaari Aa and Zindagi Hai Ek Safar Sohana."
"I know Banjaara, Khamoshiyan and Jeena Jeena."
"Khamoshiyan, Raabta, Zindagi Ek Safar, Ik Varria aa, Ambarsarriya."
"Kind of Khamoshiyan, Ambarsarriya and Zindagi Kuch Toh Bata."
"Beha Chala, Jeena Jeena, Raang Sharbaton Ka and Raabta."
"Huh!"
"Okay, the intro of Khamoshiyan."
And rest of the day was spent practicing different songs and of course Aarush bullying me. Huh! That guy is talented but so stupid. At the time of dispersal I met Moksh.
"Sister you were acting all cool like the cool kids. Must feel nice!"
"I don't see what's cool in them."
"Oh them being in band is cool enough. Then they are popular and chill. Those guys don't even have the supeority complex. They are humble people and they are really smart. They are basically perfect!"
"I never knew you were a fan boy!"
"Shut up!"
He asked a hundred more questions. He thinks that me being in the band makes me a different person. At home he won't stop telling Mummy, aunt and our dear older brother how I was now among the cool kids and no longer the boring, quite girl I used to be. Silly bro! And my other brother still thinks that both of us are lying!
