So Rudraksh returned behind him came a few juniors.
"Guys I am here. Also there are a few who will be coming after this period."
"Okay then let's start the auditions. First do any of you play any instruments or maybe know somebody who does? We really do not have many juniors you know?"
"Yeah I play the keyboard."
"Okay. Rudraksh set up the keyboard."
Rudraksh just stared at him.
"Say what?"
"Just do it assistant." He said chuckling
"Who made you the boss around here?"
"Come on! Fine Manan will do it."
"Huh!" Manan sighed. "Fine. Aarush will do it."
"Come on bro!"
"Okay."
The kid confidently sat on it he was probably a sixth grader. Looked confident as he came near the keyboard.
"So what should I play?"
"Any song."
He started playing. Which song is that? I don't recognise it. I looked at others who looked confused as well.
"What are you playing?"
"Nothing."
Bro his confidence as he said 'nothing' crazy. That's the confidence Moksh needs. Okay on second thought that's too much.
"Get up."
"Okay can I try for singing."
Aarush nodded. He came cleared his thought and started singing 'Perfect by Ed Sheeran' which was not so perfect.
"See I know I don't sing well. I am just here to bunk my Maths class."
"Maths sucks!"
"Yeah it really does."
"What standard are you in?"
"6th"
"6th well maths was easy back then. I am telling you don't you take maths as a subject in class 12th you will fail so badly-"
"So you called these kids to chitchat with them huh?"
"Rudraksh chill out you really do have anger issues. Okay whose next?"
Forward came a girl.
"What should I sing?"
"Any song."
"Okay. I need to think."
"When any of you are ready tell me?"
"Rudraksh take out an acoustic guitar."
"Why always me?"
"Manan!"
"I ain't your servant. So get up and do it yourself."
"I wish I had a loyal servant instead of these lazy ones."
"Stop treating us like your unpaid labour."
He got up took it out and handed it to me.
"Play! I don't want here any wanna be."
Okay he is definitely getting on my nerves. So I took the guitar and played 'Past Lives' so smoothly that he was clearly impressed.
"Are you girls ready."
"Yeah."
A girl came up front with complete confidence and started singing 'Arcade' except it sounded a little like 'Dandelions' but she was sure she had sung well enough to win the Indian Idol Junior. Aarush looked at her and then at Rudraksh and Manan.
"What's your name, class and section?"
"Kashvi, 6-B."
"Oh okay we will call you."
Few more came. Today I heard so many songs 'Sapphire' that sounded like 'Shape of you' and many others. Of course I am gonna be the singer now.
"Only sixth graders can have that much confidence."
"Seriously you wasted my time. Going and calling kids was so tiring."
"I forgot how old you are. Things can be really hard when you're fifty and your knees crack whenever you move and not to mention you forgot your walking stick also your back must be killing you."
"Shut up!"
"You should have brought quality material really useless people, huh!"
"Manan let's shove him in the janitor's closet and leave him there till someone finally finds him."
"Perfect!"
"I am in too."
"Yeah he fights with you a lot Chandni."
"You know what." Said Manan "he would be found way too early in the janitor's closet so let's just lock him up in the shed behind our school no one will notice for a day or two."
"Whoa you are quite the criminal mastermind."
The rest of the day was pretty normal. Soon I was home. I told Mummy how I will be playing and singing like all the cool singers and how little kids came in. Moksh flooded me in with questions. Mummy wouldn't stop telling me how proud she was and when I told my bro Kush he wouldn't believe it and said that I was lying. All over the day was pretty nice. I was happily lying in my bed thinking about the annual day when I fell asleep.
It was their again my nightmares. I was standing in a pool of blood with a knife in my hand it was covered in blood, I was covered in blood, I felt it as it dropped down from my hands my, my face. I tried running but as I turned something bumped my foot I looked down it was, was her again and then suddenly there was him. I turned again and now it was them. I really couldn't look away. Slowly they started rising then I heard them say in those familiar voices I heard them say 'You killed us! You are the reason we are dead. You are a curse. Die!'
I woke up. Their voices wouldn't leave my head. And the only thing I could do was thinking I did. I did die. I thought by dying I was free or maybe I had atoned. But no I was given this chance!
Why! A blood stained assasin that's who I am and I know that yet! Yet I pretend to be a normal human. I act as if I neubee picked up the knife that day. They were haunting my dreams because not only had I failed them but it went deeper then that I, I had killed them. I am a failure! I never did anything meaningful I was never meant to be here. I was never meant to take birth not only in this world but in the previous one as well. Wherever I go all I do is bring misery. This family is so unfortunate to have me, that band is so unfortunate to have me, class 12-A is so unfortunate to have me, the school is so unfortunate to have me, my previous parents were unfortunate to have me, they were so unfortunate to have me and so were many others. Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!
I heard a crack, I saw the hole I had punched in the wall. Then, I looked at my hand it was covered in blood. I looked in the mirror, covered my face with my hand as I couldn't bare to see who I have been pretending to be, my hand slipped it felt heavy as it fell as if it was removing the mask I had put on my face and there I saw it as clear as day my face was covered in blood. Behind that mask that has slipped this is my true face the face of a blood stained assasin. Sometimes I just wanna disappear. Disappear into thin air. Disappear so no one could find me. Erased from everyone's memories. No matter where I am, how I am, what I am, there is this one constant unwavering feeling 'Sometimes I just want to disappear.'
