Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: Breakdown

Hi, I want to talk about the theory that Luffy's mother is Tritoma. I don't believe this to be true for two reasons.

First, Tritoma died of lovesickness in the original story, so she didn't accept her feelings for the man she fell in love with and, therefore, didn't have any children.

Second, if she did have a child, it would be 100% female, since she was the queen of Amazon Lily and, by default, would give birth on that island. If you think about it, if a baby is born on that island, it will always be a girl, but Luffy is a boy.

Those are my reasons; even so, if it turns out that she is Luffy's mother, I'll just have to change a few things, since it would be strange if that were the case, but until it is confirmed, for me the theory is completely false, so I won't change anything in the fic regarding the relationship between Dante and Tritoma.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A warrior is someone who gives their all in the heat of battle, who seeks to fall in battle and bring glory to themselves and their comrades.

The path of a swordsman is not very different from that of a warrior. Perfecting your fighting style and becoming the strongest. That is the way of thinking in this world. The problem is that, when you achieve these two conditions, you are left with a void, with nothing to do, with no motivation.

When Mihawk began training to be a swordsman, he was always labeled a prodigy, someone who could go far and be the best. But he wasn't the only one.

At his side was a blond-haired, red-eyed boy who was always on his heels; neither of them did everything they could to fight each other, as they believed it wasn't the right time for that.

On his way to the top, he never felt alone; he had a companion, a friend, and a rival. All that ended when that person left to pursue his own dream, something that was not in line with the path of a swordsman.

Once he obtained Yoru on his own merits at the age of 16, he decided to pursue his own dream, even if it meant never returning to his homeland.

He advanced, defeating different swordsmen, including marines, which is why they began to pursue him and label him a pirate. Most of the marines were swordsmen, so he sought them out and defeated them, killing some in the process, earning his reward and title as the marine hunter.

But something was still missing; he knew he had to find and defeat him, but not as a hero, but as the swordsman he always thought he would be, since they were rivals.

...

At that moment, a great Conqueror's Haki was felt throughout the kingdom.

Daifuku: "Wow, he reminds me a little of Katakuri's brother, but he's still stronger."

Broyé: "Can you say something that's not obvious?"

Melise: "Hey, who do you think will win?"

Daifuku: "No idea."

In front of Mihawk stood the person he had been looking for, his rival, someone who was on equal footing with him, but that was before. He had come to prove that he was superior in the sense of being a swordsman.

Dante, now standing, left the hollow blade buried in the ground and untied the harness that held the remaining swords to the main blade. One by one, he put away the remaining four swords, leaving only one, to pick up the one he had left on the ground.

He placed the two swords, the main blade and the hollow blade, in front of him and, in a single movement, charged at Mihawk, who blocked him with the yoru, but that did not prevent him from dragging him across almost half the city.

Already quite far from his starting line, with a movement of his swords, he threw Mihawk backwards, only to attack again, but with a cut to the neck.

Mihawk responded by blocking the blow and going back on the offensive. They were trying to cut their opponent and block each other's attacks. The street where they were fighting was filled with cuts on all sides, the road was full of cracks, and some buildings were cut in half.

After several attempts by both to deliver a fatal blow to the other, Dante leaped backward to launch the main blade head-on. Mihawk responded by blocking it with his blade horizontally, only to see Dante in the air launching the hollow blade in the same way, but from another angle.

Mihawk slashes to get rid of the two swords, only to see Dante quickly arrive with a soru in front of him, grabbing two swords from his back and, in one movement, delivering two slashes.

Dante cut his arm and leg; it wasn't that deep, as Mihawk moved back quickly enough to avoid further damage, but he wasn't going to let him get away like that.

Yoru is a large, long-range sword; it's very similar to the Fusion Sword in that regard. So if someone gets too close to him, it will be very difficult to respond.

Using the side blades, which are shorter than the Fusion Sword and look more like knives than swords, he moved as close as possible to Mihawk, using one of the blades to block his attacks mid-action and attacking with the other.

Mihawk tried to create distance, but Dante wouldn't let him, so he took a big leap forward and tried to attack in midair. Dante could only block his attacks, waiting for him to fall back to the ground. Mihawk was lucky enough to make a superficial cut on his shoulder before falling. He was met with two blades, which he quickly blocked, ending up in a strength contest that he was losing.

It is worth mentioning that, in terms of advantages, Dante has greater strength and speed than Mihawk. But Mihawk had a better sword-fighting style and a higher level of haki to compensate. Right now, Dante, having a damaged foot, could not use his speed as an advantage; he only had his greater strength left, while Mihawk could still use his advantages without any problem.

Dante quickly pulls out one of the blades to spin it sideways and grab it in a downward grip, and with a quick movement, he buries it in his shoulder, causing blood to spurt out immediately.

Mihwak quickly uses Yoru to make a cut with all his strength, sending Dante flying with one cut, which is blocked by the other blade.

At that moment, he took the opportunity to remove the blade that was buried in his shoulder. As soon as he had it in his hand, he realized how heavy it was. He could still attack with it, but his movements would be slow due to its weight. He couldn't help but think about the weight of the other swords and how Dante swung the large sword with ease when they were all joined together.

He couldn't continue thinking, because when he looked up, he saw Dante about to strike where he was, using a large amount of haki in his fist. Sensing the danger, instead of blocking the attack, he decided to dodge it.

The moment Dante's fist touched the ground, the entire place was destroyed. A huge explosion was generated in the place; a great gust of wind was generated in the place. The earth would have split open the moment it rose into the air. The buildings around it were destroyed in seconds. Mihawk could only stay on his feet by using his sword as support, hoping that the piece of land he was clinging to would not fly away and, by default, himself.

In the northern area, on the outskirts of the city, Isis did her best with her fruit to block the wind coming in her direction. The others were reassuring the dejas and protecting themselves from the great tremor caused by Dante's attack.

Trini: "That idiot, isn't he thinking?" her complaint was heard in the air, but no one answered her, nor did she need an answer, since she knew that Dante was no longer thinking about the consequences, that he didn't care about anything that happened in that place or to himself.

High up on a mountain near the city, Big Mom's five pirates were watching the fight in shock, their eyes and mouths wide open.

Moscato: "Damn, that strength."

Broyé: "Tell me, brother Daifuku, Katakuri-nisan is stronger than that man, right?"

Daifuku: "...".

Back to the battle. Smoke filled the place, visibility was poor, but even so, the two knew what the other was doing. Mihawk was in a defensive stance, waiting for Dante to use that absurd strength again. Meanwhile, Dante was walking to where the swords had landed, the ones that had flown away, and used the system to bring them back.

Dante knew that if he continued like this, he would end up losing; he couldn't defeat his opponent using force alone, so he had to make another sacrifice.

Dante: 'Sorry, little foot, but I'm going to have to use you at full power,' he thought as he looked at his damaged foot.

Getting into a running position, holding the rear blades of the Fusion Sword, he launched himself at a speed almost imperceptible to the human eye.

Mihawk opened his eyes wide as he sensed Dante's speed using haki. Quickly moving his sword in a cutting motion, he blocked Dante's first attack, then the second, and so on.

With luck, he had time to counterattack, and each time he did, he was pushed from side to side, his hands numb from the sword strikes. On the other side, the pain in his foot was almost unbearable; he felt that at any moment his foot would be dismembered and fly off.

Thanks to that pain, Mihawh saw a small opening. With a vertical cut, he stopped Dante's movement in its tracks, forcing him to block, but his small victory would not last long.

With a single shift of his swords, he pushed Yoru off him, striking the ground hard, leaving cracks in the floor with his good foot and making a vertical cut using the rear blades in parallel, sending Mihawk flying into the palace of the kingdom, followed closely behind by Dante himself.

Once they entered the palace, there was silence.

Melise: "It's been a while since I've been this excited watching a fight. Want to bet on who wins?"

Moscato: "I'll pass. I'm still recovering from my bet with Nusstorte."

Broyé: "Hey, Galette, why hasn't he said anything in a while?"

At that moment, everyone looked to one side and saw Galette holding a den den mushi, recording everything that was happening.

Melise: "Hey, what are you doing, Galette?"

At that moment, Galette was so focused that when they spoke to her, she was startled and almost dropped the den den mushi.

Galette: "What? What thing?" she said, getting a little nervous.

Daifuku: "What are you doing with that den den mushi? Are you recording?" he said, recognizing the type of den den mushi she was using.

Galette: "Me? Yes, I'm recording the battle so I can show it to Mom later to convince her that Dante should join the family."

Moscato: "Don't you mean the crew?"

Galette: "It's the same thing," he said, ignoring the others and continuing to focus on the palace in silence.

Melise: "I don't think it's the same thing."

At that moment, an energy attack was seen coming out of the palace, followed by another and another. Then, out of nowhere, a row of explosions appeared on the side of the palace, destroying much of it.

Broyé: "Do you know what's happening?"

Daifuku: "Something." "I can sense Dante and Mihawk fighting in the palace, ignoring anyone else inside; they continue their battle as if no one else were around."

At that moment, an attack was seen coming out of the palace and creating a large crater in the ground. Then, in the room above it, multiple cuts began to appear at high speed, and it was completely destroyed, creating a large amount of smoke.

A person emerged from that smoke. It was Mihawk, who looked down into the smoke; he had Yoru on his right arm. In addition to several cuts, he had blades embedded in his side, one in his arm, and one in his leg.

Dante then emerged from the same place, looking at Mihawk, without his shirt, showing all the new scars he now had, in addition to the old ones.

At that moment, Galette fainted, bleeding from his nose, causing his brothers to break out in a cold sweat. Quickly, Melise, ignoring Galette, took the den den mushi and continued to film the fight.

Mihawk, in midair, grabbed Yoru with both hands and looked at Dante.

Mihawk: "Divide," and with a single word, he made a horizontal cut at his opponent.

At that moment, Dante felt a sense of extreme danger as he saw the attack heading straight for him at full speed, so he used all his strength to use soru to get out of the way.

At that moment, the attack split the half-destroyed palace in half, but that wasn't the end of it. In an instant, the entire country was cut in half. Including the sea, showing a large crack that divided everything in two. You could hardly see the bottom of this opening created by the cut of a swordsman at the peak of his fencing skills.

Dante: "Shit," he exclaimed when he saw what Mihawk's attack had caused, as Mihawk himself fell far away from him, pulling out the two swords that were embedded in him. "Would you be so kind as to pass them to me?" he said to his opponent.

Incredibly, he did so, throwing them to Dante. Dante took advantage of this to assemble the Sword fusion, watching as Mihawk looked at his wounds.

Mihawk: "It's been a long time since I've been hurt this badly, not even with Shanks, but I imagine he only fought with fencing, using the minimum amount of haki."

Dante completely ignored Mihawk's words; he was not in the mood to talk to him.

Once the sword was ready, without a second's delay, he lunged again, only this time instead of pushing Mihawk, he sent him several meters from his original position.

Now, with the fused sword, its weight was greater than with just one sword.

Mihawk managed to regain his balance just in time to have Dante above him. The Fusion Sword was overflowing with haki.

Dante: "Stellar Fall." Using all his strength and weight, he fell, making a vertical cut down where Mihawk was.

Mihawk quickly used Yoru to block the attack, and the moment it made contact, everything in the area was destroyed.

The difference between Dante and Mihawk's fencing styles was as clear as day. While one is more elegant and focuses more on the cut, the other is more destructive and chaotic, as if using a sledgehammer rather than a sword.

Everything around them was completely destroyed. The nearest half of the palace was destroyed in seconds by the tremors from the landslide in the surrounding area.

As Dante fell to the ground, he continued to put pressure on Mihawk, who was already kneeling, almost falling to the ground.

With each passing second, the ground felt as if it were sinking deeper and deeper. The giant crack that had already formed began to grow larger and larger, causing houses, objects, and other things to fall into the void.

Mihawk's head was bleeding, as he had cushioned the blow with it when he received it. Blood ran from the top of his head to his chin. He sank lower and lower, bending backward with each passing second due to Dante's great weight and strength. At any moment, his sword was going to touch the ground. If this continued, he might be cut in half.

Mihawk: "AHAHAHA." At that moment, Quito lost all his composure and elegance as he shouted with all his soul, and with all his strength, he managed to make a cut, removing the sword above him.

And with the same energy, he tried to cut Dante in half, only he didn't expect him to block the attack with his fist.

Dante's hand and part of his arm were cut in half, but he achieved his goal of avoiding being cut in half and stopping the attack.

With his other free hand, he made a horizontal energy cut, which hit Mihawk squarely in the stomach, throwing him backwards. Incidentally, the Yoru also came out of his arm in the middle of the action, which, if it had continued, would have left him without an arm.

Dante tried to use his severed arm to grab the air, barely managing to do so.

At that moment, he looked at Mihawk, who no longer looked like an elegant swordsman but rather like a samurai who had emerged from a war zone and barely survived.

Both stared at each other, conveying a message: It was time to end this.

Dante pulled the two rear blades from the Fusion Sword. Meanwhile, Mihawk got into position to attack. Crossing his arms and straining his entire body to the limit, he lunged forward; Mihawk did the same.

Dante: "Flash," and announcing his attack, he cut Mihawk with two deep X-shaped cuts across his torso, causing him to fall to his knees, holding himself up with his sword as blood poured from his mouth.

Flash was a technique in which the user lunged at their opponent at maximum speed. It is based on using one of the two swords as a spear to push the opponent away and using the other to make a large cut capable of cutting the opponent in half. If the opponent does not defend themselves, instead of one cut, there will be two in the shape of an X.

Mihawk, slowly but surely, got back up to look at the sky.

Mihawk: "I won." He said this only to look at Dante, who could only see his back, but there was something he could tell at first glance: he was missing an arm, more specifically, the arm that was almost cut off.

Let's go back to the moment when both attacked: Mihawk, instead of defending himself, decided to attack equally, creating a circular cut, which cut his chest and an entire arm.

Dante: "Yes, it seems so," he said as blood flowed from his mouth.

At that moment, he took the side blades and the rest of the Fusion Sword, sheathing it on his back, then took his severed arm and looked at his opponent.

Dante: "Live with this victory, but I swear to all the gods, along with my blood, that if anyone kills you one day, it will be me; I will cut off your arms and legs for everything you caused here; I hope it was worth it."

With that said, he turned and left, leaving Mihawk there, watching him go in silence.

Melise: "We should take this opportunity to capture them both; they would make good crew members."

Moscato: "Not a bad idea."

Broyé: "We should go immediately."

Galette: "Leave Dante to me; I'll take care of seducing him, I mean, dealing with him."

???: "I can't let you do that." A lazy male voice was heard behind the five.

When they turned around, they saw a tall man wearing a cap and a blue-gray striped suit, but what was most striking was his navy cape, indicating that he was a vice admiral.

The five of them got into attack position, but he just looked at them with boredom.

???: "Five against one, how scary, but boring at the same time," he said, pointing with a finger from which a yellow light began to emanate.

Dante walked slowly to the northern part of the city; not far away, explosions could be heard, but he ignored them. He had to get to his companions, no matter what.

At that moment, he fell to the ground. He tried to get up, but with one arm and little energy, it was almost impossible.

Arthur: "I see you need help." The moment he heard that voice, he looked up, only to see the six in front of him, with looks of concern and relief.

At that moment, he realized that Arthur was reaching out his hand to him.

Dante: "More than you think," he said with a smile, grabbing his hand as best he could and being lifted up.

The others came over to help him walk.

Trini: "You're an idiot."

Hun: [Idiot, idiot], he repeated.

Dante didn't have much energy left to respond, so he closed his eyes and let them carry him to the base and give him first aid.

In the forest of the country, Mihawk could be seen sitting on a branch, bandaging his wounds, and meditating on his actions.

He is now closer to achieving his goal, but in doing so, he lost his rival and his first friend.
