Chapter 64 - Chapter 64: Admiral level, almost

Hey, people, I'm still feeling bad, but don't come here to tell me how upset I am. Instead, I'm talking about something that was seen in the new One Piece opening.

If you haven't seen it, well, too bad for you, but there's a scene where Dragon appears and then the lightning that saved Luffy from being decapitated by Buggy, as if to say Dragon did it.

So, there are two possible Devil Fruits that Dragon can have; actually, there are three, but the third is something very fanciful, like Nikka, something I don't think Oda will do again.

These two are the Climate Climate norm, and the other is something much more destructive. Why don't I mention it? Well, in this fic, I decided I was going to have that fruit and not the Climate Climate norm, so I want it to be a surprise. Maybe if you think about it a bit, you can figure out which one it is.

I won't say any more because it would be a spoiler for the fic, so, without further ado, let the chapter continue.

Dante's POV

My whole body ached; the good thing was I could feel both arms, so the kids managed to hold them together. However, the pain in my leg, specifically my foot, which had been brutally injured by both Mihawk and me, was excruciating.

Another thing I realized was that there was a weight on top of me, as if there were a person. There was also someone beside me. At that moment, I remembered I had fainted after the battle with Mihawk.

I opened my eyes only to realize I was back in a medical room again; I sort of remembered the marks on the ceiling from seeing them so often.

I looked to my side only to see a nurse lying next to me, looking strangely, which gave me the creeps. There was another one on the other side, only sitting next to the bed, but this one was rubbing my shoulder and chest.

It gave me a sense of déjà vu from other similar situations I've been in.

Nurse 1: "I see our hero has finally woken up." Our hero—he sounds like he's an object.

Dante: "How long did he arrive unconscious?"

Nurse 2: "Only 3 days." That's good; it wasn't that long.

I tried to move but was stopped by both nurses.

Nurse 2: "You're still very badly injured. They only treated you as needed, with the idea that you'll heal naturally. Besides, you won't want to escape from your two personal nurses who will take care of your every need," said the one sitting next to me.

Nurse 1: "Yes, anything you want, we can do it for you." She said in my ear while massaging my most intimate side.

I've been in this kind of situation before, and the last time it happened, Luna was born.

I was about to say something, only for the door to burst open.

Trini: "They're taking advantage of Dante again. stop—" He stopped his babble when he realized he was awake.

Dante: "Trini, just in time, help me get them off me; I can't move my body."

At that moment, Garp came out from behind Trini.

Garp: "You're in bad shape, Dante. I think you'll have to increase your training." "If you join the Navy, I'll make you the strongest Marine in history."

Silence.

Not even a hello; this crazy old man only thinks about himself and his strange desires.

...

Dante: "I see," he said, as they were telling me everything.

Right now in the room were Garp, Trini, Arthur, Sulli, and Isis. They were telling me what had happened during these three days.

According to what they were saying, I had lost an arm and had many cuts on my body—that's the most obvious—but the important thing is my foot, more specifically, the one that had been severed on the heel. Reconnecting the heel wasn't complicated for Sulli and Arthur, but because I overexerted and forced my foot much more, it was severely damaged, to the point where I couldn't use it anymore.

Will I never walk again? Not really. It can be repaired, but it will take time and several healing periods. According to what they're telling me, I won't be able to use my foot within three months, and I'll be able to walk again in five months, run in seven, and use it as usual in 10 months.

That was the price of using all my speed with a bad foot.

There's also the problem of the kingdom, which was completely destroyed, and Morgans was very clear in his newspaper.

Third-person POV

In the kingdom where the confrontation between Dante and Mihawk had taken place, there were some marines searching the surrounding areas for anyone still alive or anything important.

Marine 1: "What do we have so far?" one asked another, holding a clipboard.

Marine 2: "Well, we have 43 fatalities, 42 in the palace and one outside. We also have 5 survivors, 4 in serious condition and the other in mild condition. They were 3 maids, a guard, and the kingdom's advisor. The entire royal family was also confirmed dead; none survived."

At that moment, they looked at all the destruction of the place, including the giant crack, which was 10 meters wide and unknown in depth.

Dante POV

The newspaper really likes gossip and morbidity.

A confrontation that ends in the destruction of an entire country: the great hero Dante and the marine hunter Dracule Mihawk end in tragedy.

I threw the newspaper aside, unwilling to continue reading, especially since I had experienced what happened firsthand.

Arthur: "It also mentions Mihawk's victory, but many people claim it was an injustice, since it's mentioned and there's evidence that, in the midst of the confrontation, you were more concerned with safeguarding people than fighting him."

Isis: "Also the fact that both of you ended up in a bad way; it's said that if it weren't for that fact, you should have won."

Sulli: "And even if you didn't win because of that fact, it's pretty obvious that you're both at the same level."

Dante: "Then why am I supposedly quasi-admiral-level and admiral-level?" At that moment, I looked at Garp, who was eating some cookies.

Garp: "Because you lost and he won." What a simplistic thought. "It's still not bad; at least in the Navy, there are few people at that level or higher; currently, there are Kong, Sengoku, Tsuru, Zephyr, Akainu, Aokiji, Bolsalino, and me."

Sulli: "Now that I think about it, what were the marines doing there?"

Garp: "Sengoku had a feeling something bad might happen when he heard about the meeting in your books. He thought a large number of pirates might come and cause chaos; he didn't realize it would only take one." At that moment, he started laughing.

Trini: "But there were other pirates; there was Big Mom."

Garp: "That's true, I'd forgotten. Maybe they barely did anything thanks to Borsalino's actions. If it weren't for the excuse of not angering Big Mom, I would have captured all five of them."

Sulli: "Well, let's talk about something else."

Dante: "What?"

Garp: "That they can't come here anymore unless they join the navy."

It's true that we're in a navy branch, the G8, a place for marines; we're special cases.

Dante: "It doesn't matter anymore. I still appreciate everything, but we won't be joining the Navy, at least not anytime soon."

Isis: "Short term?"

Dante: "Yeah, since we're not going to be like this forever, you guys should have your own dreams and goals too; you can't just be ticks at my side." The team thing was for safety and the fact that I couldn't do everything alone, but that's not so much the case anymore. "Maybe that's for later; we won't separate yet, but you guys also have to pursue your dreams and goals to achieve them, and if you don't know what to do yet, you still have time to think about it."

This is more because I'll be leaving this world/universe when I've reached the pinnacle of power in this world, and for now, I'm still a long way off.

Dante: "Hey, where's Gil, and where's Marie? She should have been in my bed, not those nurses."

Garp: "In East Blue."

Dante: "And what are you two doing there?"

*East Blue*

Third-Person POV

In a small town, three little 4-year-old boys can be seen playing; one was a boy with black hair, another with blond hair, and the last with two colors: red and white.

At that moment, a blonde woman came out with a basket of food from a bar; this was Marie, wearing casual attire, nothing that could have been mistaken for a marine.

Marie: "Gil, Luffy, and Uta, it's time for snacks, so come on."

The three boys stopped what they were doing and ran over to Marie.

Luffy: "What did you bring us, Marie-san?" he asked excitedly.

Marie: "Some egg and mayo sandwiches, along with a bottle of milk for each of us; Makino helped me make them."

All three: "Yes."

The three of them began to take things out of the basket as if they had never eaten in their lives; Marie just laughed at the situation.

???: "You didn't bring anything for me, either. I'm a kid, too." A man's mocking voice was heard nearby.

Marie turned around to see a red-haired man sitting in a chair not far from the bar's entrance.

Marie: "I should arrest you right now, but I'm not doing it for Uta, so don't test my patience, pirate."

The red-haired man sitting there was Shanks. His crew was also there, but they were scattered throughout the town doing normal things, like eating, drinking, or playing card games.

Shanks: "You couldn't defeat me even if you wanted to; I'm on the same level as Mihawk right now, and if you can't beat Dante, then you can't beat me either."

Marie: "Why do you say that? Don't you know Dante?"

Shanks: "But I do know Mihawk," he said, handing her a newspaper.

She just took it and started reading. The more she read, the paler she became. Suddenly, she dropped the newspaper and turned around.

Marie: "I have to call Garp," and with that, she ran off to where they were staying.

Currently, Marie was sent here to raise and take better care of Gil and Luffy, at Garp's request. She'll be here for a while and then continue doing missions with Garp, returning here every so often, leaving Gil and Luffy in the kingdom, along with Ace.

At that moment, Uta picked up the newspaper that was lying on the ground.

Uta: "Hey, Gil, didn't you say your father was the hero Dante?"

Gil: "Yeah, my father is the great hero, Dante, and when he grows up, he'll be a great hero like him. He'll be greater than him, and I'll surpass him in every way."

Uta: "It says here that he was defeated by the Marine Hunter in a battle."

Gil: "What are you saying?" he said, taking the newspaper from him to read it himself. Luffy sat down next to it to look at the pictures, since he still can't read well.

Luffy: "If he was defeated, then he wasn't that great," he said in a disinterested tone.

At this, Gil felt annoyed and offended.

Gil: "What did you say?" He lunged at Luffy.

The two began to fight. Uta didn't know what to do, and Shanks just laughed at the situation.

After a while of watching the two boys fight, Shanks stood up and separated them.

Shanks: "Calm down, both of you. The situation is more complicated than you think."

Luffy: "What are you talking about, Shanks?"

Shanks: "Dante didn't fight at first but instead dedicated himself to protecting the common people. Because of that, he took a lot of damage, so when it came time to face his opponent, he couldn't do so in his best condition."

Luffy: "So Dante is stronger than that guy."

Shanks: "I have no idea."

Luffy started to think about it, but given the complicated situation, his head started to steam. The three of them sweatdropped at this.

Uta: "So, who's stronger, according to what you said, than Marie-san?"

Shanks: "How can I explain it?" "I'm stronger and faster than Mihawk, but he has better swordsmanship and Haki right now." "I'm better at using my swords and Haki than Dante, but he's stronger and faster than me." "At least that's what I've seen and heard; when I meet him face-to-face, I'll be able to tell if what I'm saying is true or not."

He turned around to look at the children, all three of whom were fuming as they tried to process what he'd said.

Seeing the cause lost, he turned around to sit back down and sleep.

...

* In the G8 *

Dante's POV

Dante: "I see. I've been wanting to see Gil. I have something I want to give him, but now isn't the time."

Garp: "Give it to him later."

Dante: "Maybe, but we have to think about it." "Sulli, how long do I have to be here in bed before we can leave?"

Sulli: "In about three days, you'll be able to be stable enough to move. Where do you want to go?"

Dante: "They're not firing you here anymore, so anywhere is better."

And so the three days passed, without doing much, mostly on my part, since I can't do much; I'm in bed rest mode.

The most memorable thing that happened to me was the constant harassment I received from some nurses; not all of them, but some of them did their jobs. And thanks to Trini and Isis's campaign, my integrity remains pure.

Maybe I sound like a male princess or something, but you have to think about my problem; I don't want to have 30 children; that's scary. I barely have time to take care of Luna and Gil; imagine if there were more? I'd be broke.

Trini: "I never thought I'd one day see you in a wheelchair," she said mockingly.

Dante: "I wish they'd given it to me and I wouldn't have had to buy the chair," I said, a little bitterly.

We left the G8 without incident. Garp had already left to do Garp things, so there was no one to say goodbye to.

They had to make a comfortable space where he was driving the Skidbladnir since he couldn't stand, but he had to sit at all times. Also, one of them had to be watching where we were going to give me directions. I could use Haki, but using it uses energy.

Arthur: "So where are we going?"

Dante: "To where the adventure awaited us." I mean, anywhere.

...

It's been a month since I woke up. Nothing has happened; well, within the monotony we had, helping people, defeating pirates, etc. Right now we were at a bar; everyone was drinking except me, for obvious reasons.

There was a girl standing near me with predatory eyes. I felt somewhat uncomfortable due to my limited mobility; I saw myself as easy prey.

With all this, I realized how my quirk in this world worked. An example of these quirks is Zoro getting lost after walking two steps, unpleasant laughter like Ceaser's or Moria's, or those strange tastes like Smoker's excessive smoking. Of the six of us, I've only identified three.

Arthur has terrible luck with gambling; he always loses, no matter what. Hun has an addiction to the color ruby red; anything that color will make him drop whatever he's doing and try to obtain it. And here's mine: any woman who's crazy will fall madly in love with me when she sees a picture of me. The problem is that some have reached the point of absolute obsession; I've encountered quite a few of these. The only way to avoid this is for that woman to have already been madly in love with someone else.

As I tried to get a little distance from the crazy woman, I felt someone approach me, take a chair, and sit down in front of me. She was wearing a full-body robe, so I couldn't see any features of the person in front of me.

???: "I want to talk to you alone, Dante." What a great opportunity.

Dante: "Go away, this is serious." I told the woman harassing me not to let it seem like harassment.

She resisted a little, but seeing how serious this was becoming, she started to complain.

We weren't completely alone; There were people in the bar, like Arthur, who was supposed to be looking out for me, which he didn't do at all, but we were still quite far from people.

Dante: "What brings you here, friend? If you want an autograph, you could have been less mysterious."

???: "I need your help with something."

Dante: "Sadly, I can't help; I'm in no condition to do anything, you'll have to wait at least 10 months before I can fight anyone again."

???: "I don't need you to fight, but I need both your status as a hero and as a celestial dragon—sorry, ex-celestial dragon."

My friendly face turned one of absolute seriousness. What does he need my status for, and what can this guy offer me?

???: "Sorry, but as an individual, I don't really need you to do much; just help me transport something and give me information about Mary Geoise."

Dante: "And why do you think I would give you something like that?" If I smoked, I'd light a cigarette right now to gain aura.

???: "To rescue my brothers and others from that horrible place." At that moment, he removed his hood, revealing that he wasn't a human but a fish-man. "My name is Fisher Tiger. I'm a former slave who managed to escape from that place a year ago. Hearing from others what you've done for slaves and people who were close to being slaves, I'm asking for your help with this."

Fucking hell, this guy. I totally forgot he existed. Now, looking at him, I remember some of what happened in the original story.

Dante: "You escaped from there. How, and why doesn't anyone know that?"

Fisher: "I have no idea. What happened has been kept secret, but I'm not going to tell you more unless you say whether you're going to help me or not."

Pretending to have a cigarette and flicking the ashes aside, I looked at Fisher Tiger.

Dante: "Cover your face." I saw him do it, so I turned to look at Arthur. "Hey, Arthur, come here."

He looked at where we were and came closer.

Arthur: "What happened? Why did you replace that beautiful lady with a weirdo?" he said a little mockingly; he was obviously a little drunk.

Dante: "Cut the crap; we have work to do, so let's go to the others." I looked back at the fish-in-waiting. "You, follow us. We're going to help you in your terrorist act, but indirectly. But for that, we need a plan, and for that, we need the whole team. And while I'm at it, I'll tell you what the entire infrastructure of Mary Geoise looks like, as well as where most of the imprisoned slaves are."
