Zenitsu quickly launched into an explanation. "That was merely admiration; liking and admiring are different. I like you, I genuinely like you! Truly!"
Aoi wasn't fooled by Zenitsu's smooth talk. Of every ten words he spoke, she only believed one.
She doubted his sincerity, given their lack of shared experiences or meaningful interactions.
"Then tell me, why do you like me? What specifically do you like about me?" Aoi, intrigued, decided to play along, wanting to see what excuses he would concoct.
Zenitsu, sensing a glimmer of hope, thought rapidly. "I like how you get angry, because when you're angry, all your attention is on me. I like how carefully you examine my body, because it makes me feel cherished. I like your adorable nature, because it makes me want to protect you. I like you, no matter how much you hit or scold me, I still like you!"

Aoi hadn't expected Zenitsu to articulate his feelings so well. Were it not for his notorious womanizing, she might have fallen for his confession.

"Deal! Forget the entire Demon Slayer Corps; I'll let the whole world know that I, Zenitsu Agatsuma, like Aoi Kanzaki! Don't you dare go back on your word! Or I'll spank you!" Zenitsu immediately agreed, extending his hand to solidify the agreement.
Aoi nodded in confirmation. "I won't."
Despite his reputation for being a womanizer, Zenitsu's motivations were surprisingly straightforward. He simply desired a girlfriend.
