Zenitsu had spotted Aoi from afar and had called out to her several times, but she, lost in her thoughts, hadn't heard.
Just as Zenitsu was about to approach, Aoi collided with him.
Startled by the collision, Aoi immediately apologized, "I'm so sorry! Please forgive me!"
Looking up, she saw Zenitsu and her expression turned sour. She changed her tone, scolding him, "You lech! Don't you have eyes when you walk?!"
Zenitsu was stunned, looking at Aoi in confusion.
Despite the scolding, he didn't get angry. He had no resistance to girls, especially cute and pretty ones.
"Aoi-chan, are you on your period? You're so irritable," Zenitsu inquired with concern.
"No!" Aoi denied immediately, clearly disliking Zenitsu.
"Um, Aoi-chan, I'm here to get my medicine. Could you help me apply it?" Zenitsu quickly sought a reason to interact with her.
If Zenitsu weren't so focused on beautiful women, Aoi wouldn't be so averse to him.
"I'm busy. Find someone else," Aoi refused, turning to leave.
Zenitsu grabbed her hand. "You're distraught because Tanjiro and Kanao are together, aren't you?"
Three months prior, Aoi frequently visited Rengoku Manor to treat Tanjiro and Inosuke's injuries, and Zenitsu had noticed her affection for Tanjiro.
He suspected her current distress stemmed from Tanjiro's relationship with another girl.
Aoi froze, then vehemently denied it. "What are you talking about? Let go! Or I'll scream!"
At that moment, Zenitsu felt Aoi's heart tremble, confirming his suspicions.
Aoi's inability to accept Tanjiro's relationship with Kanao had left her despondent and lost.
"If you had confessed your feelings to Tanjiro earlier, you wouldn't be feeling this way now," Zenitsu said calmly.
This caused Aoi even more pain. She forcibly suppressed her emotions, shaking off Zenitsu's grip. "Are you here to laugh at me? Or pity me?"
Zenitsu was right; if she had confessed sooner, she wouldn't have been overtaken.
However, Aoi had only harbored a fondness for Tanjiro; she hadn't been certain about pursuing a deeper relationship.
"Cry if you need to. It might make you feel better," Zenitsu said, noticing Aoi's forced composure and unshed tears.
