Sami woke up on his second day in the Colosseum and repeated his daily routine: went to the bathroom, came back, and sat to write in his notebook. Finally, he decided to wake up Niko himself today.
He approached his bed and, standing over him, said:
"Hey, you sick otaku! Wake up! You know we have to go to the division at six in the morning!"
But Sami received no response.
"Hey, wake up! And if you don't, I'll lift you out of bed myself!"
No response.
Sami lowered his hand roughly and pulled the covers off him.
It seemed Niko was immersed in a game, as he had headphones on and hadn't heard him at all.
Niko raised his eyes towards Sami and said in a lazy, questioning tone:
"Hey, Sami, why are you stripping my blanket off at this early hour? Are you okay?"
This angered Sami, but he quickly composed himself.
He threw the blanket back at Niko and said:
"I was just waking you up so we could go to the division."
"Ah, if you want to wake me for the division, don't you think you're rushing a bit, man?! Classes start at nine in the morning, why wake me at six?!"
"Wait?! Nine? Wasn't it six?"
Oh, that's my mistake then. Damn, me! Be more focused now, you cost Niko his sleep... Wait, have I become the annoying roommate instead of the other way around?! Ah, damn!
"Well, it seems you're right... Sorry for waking you, man, I just wanted to do good, nothing more. Now I'll leave you alone... Continue playing."
"No problem, man... You're right, we should wake up early. My sister would have been mad at me if I overslept. It's fine, Sami, thank you."
Niko replied while adjusting his sitting position. Suddenly, he picked up a game controller from the chair beside his bed and aimed it at Sami.
"I'd like you to play a round against me, Sami."
Sami didn't show much reaction except surprise. He took the controller and sat on the edge of the bed.
Well, they started playing. Sami himself was somewhat of a game enthusiast.
And so, the remaining three hours until class time passed.
Sami thought to himself:
"It's not really bad..."
---
And so Sami entered his first serious class. He followed the instructions he received on his device and went to his seat. The lecture hall wasn't particularly special; it was just a large amphitheater sloping downwards, with a seat and a small desk prepared for the professor, behind which was a large projection screen.
Sami quietly sat in his seat, and strangely, Niko was on the other side of the division and in the row behind him. Sami thought to himself: "This is to be expected from my luck."
Finally, the rest of the students arrived quietly, each taking their place. Sami was in the middle, in a place neither important nor particularly attractive, which made him object to it on the grounds that it wasn't a suitable place for a main character.
In contrast, the Clan Leader's daughter sat in the front row, facing the professor, in a way he found cliché.
And so the first class began.
The supervisor with the crow-like eyes entered and began explaining:
"The history of the Ordeal begins five thousand years ago, and to this day humans still know little about it. There are five ordeals in total. Humans have only managed to complete the third ordeal, with a survival rate of 0.5%. As for the fourth ordeal, no survivor has been recorded so far. As for the second ordeal, the survival rate is 25%, and the first is 65%, thanks to the information provided to the Bound who survived the ordeals. Therefore, every Bound must realize that information is power, and the importance of information is equal to that of weapons."
For Sami, this information was already within his knowledge. If it weren't, he wouldn't have spent two years in his family's library!
The supervisor continued:
"As for the major powers in the world in general, there are 15 Clans in the world, each led by a survivor of the third ordeal, distributed across three regions in the world, and united under the banner of one clan.
In the Eastern Continent, there is the 'Desert Wolves' clan, which founded martial arts, and four clans follow it.
In the Northern Continent, there is the 'Snow Peak' clan, which possesses the strongest magic users, who harnessed it and made it available to all, and four clans follow it.
As for here in the Central Continent where we are, there is the 'Open Book' clan, the most influential clan in the world, which has the largest number of Bound and is the main reason for the increase in the survival rate of the ordeal thanks to its founder's invention of the 'System' that you all know."
Then she added:
"Some of you may not know, but before the System was invented, it was difficult for humans to know their abilities and skills, and not everyone was a genius at interpreting them. Therefore, the 'Open Book' clan is considered the greatest, and four clans follow it, including our clan, the 'Gloomy Winds'."
Then she asked:
"Do you know what our clan's role is, which makes it distinct from the other clans?"
The Clan Leader's daughter stood up and said:
"Our clan is responsible for detaining criminals. Thanks to our ancestors' abilities, we can imprison the world's greatest horrors. Our mission is to imprison Bound who stray from the path."
The teacher looked at her coolly and said:
"Yes, you are right."
Then she continued:
"That's why you will learn here in the Colosseum everything about the System, martial arts, magic, and also the world's history and the other clans."
This was just an introductory thing. Now, take out your devices and start taking notes.
Sami took out his device and cast a quick glance towards the Clan Leader's daughter, then lowered his eyes.
None of this information was new to him; he had already studied all this for one reason or another. Therefore, he didn't expect to hear anything new.
All that occupied his mind was that he was living in the world's largest prison, surrounded by the world's most dangerous criminals. This really wasn't a place anyone would wish to live in.
And so the rest of the class continued. Everyone recorded their information, and Sami occasionally stole glances at the Clan Leader's daughter.
When the class ended, Sami stood up from his place and started walking towards the exit, but before he could leave, a hand quickly pulled him from the side.
He looked at the owner of the hand.
"Oh, this was not expected at all!"
It was a girl with white hair, ruby-red eyes, and pale skin, holding his hand with a questioning look in her eyes.
Sami thought internally:
"Oh, this was not expected at all... It seems I really am going to live a battle manhwa life!!!"
