Chapter 23 - Chapter 23 : "School Life"

And so, Sami found himself in another large hall with about fifty people, and it seemed this would be the team he would be assigned to. Fortunately, Niko was with him in the same team, and there were some faces he had noticed earlier, like the noble child and the tired old man. But all of this was secondary to him. What really piqued Sami's interest was his team leader, the person chosen to lead his team. That person was the Clan Leader's daughter, something Sami didn't really oppose, not for any special reasons...

"Though... damn you, me, stop thinking about that!"

And so, he found himself with a group of people listening to a speech from a teenage girl, which Sami was enjoying. In the end, he was right; her voice perfectly matched her face.

"It seems genes don't lie, after all."

But the strange part was the two people beside her, who introduced themselves as the official supervisors for his division. They were the same two people who had entered his room that morning, him and Niko. Sami looked at Niko to see his reaction, but it seemed Niko wasn't really interested in this. He was playing a complex handheld game, making Sami wonder when something would happen to interest this idiot.

When the speech ended, Sami realized several things:

First, this would be his official and only division, where he would remain until he graduated from the Colosseum.

Second, there were several other divisions, and they would compete with each other from time to time.

Third, they had to attend daily, do some training, and take some lessons.

And fourth, the assessment test would begin in two weeks.

These things didn't make Sami feel anything except that he had returned to school.

Damn, Sami had always really hated school.

But there was a positive side: they had good food, and also the devices provided you with all the basic information, from facility locations to the smallest details. Also, there was a points system in this institution, something Sami didn't really like, but he thought he could manipulate it to his advantage.

While Sami was thinking about many things he could do and living in his imagination, he felt a hand touch his shoulder. He looked and found Niko.

"What is it, Niko? I don't have time for your talk about games now."

"Ah, it's not really that, Sami... but it seems they've been calling your name for a while and you haven't answered."

And so, Sami realized that his division leader was taking attendance and getting to know names. It seemed he hadn't noticed because he was living in his imaginations of a fun school life. And now, as a socially anxious introvert, he became the center of attention for everyone in the room. Sami didn't know what to say, and it seemed the leader herself approached him to find out why he hadn't answered.

"Hey, Bound Sami, why don't you answer when your name is called?"

Sami was in an unusual position for his personality. He thought about escaping directly, but that wasn't an option. Well, there was always that other option.

"Because I don't want to!"

What kind of answer is that, me? That's truly the worst reaction I've had in the last five years. Damn it! Now, the first impression I was planning has completely failed.

"Well, not wanting it isn't an option, Bound Sami. Next time when you are called upon, answer, okay?"

And so ended their first conversation. Damn me! I always mess everything up! Wait, don't exaggerate; it's not like you were into her in the first place. Who cares?

Well, you have a point. I can't care about every girl's opinion of me. Right, yeah, right.

And so, Sami comforted himself.

And so ended his first class in the Colosseum. He got to know the rest of the people in his division. They weren't particularly interesting, except for the old man and the child. He also learned that the Clan Leader's daughter didn't pay him any attention.

"Well, the world isn't like a manhwa. She can't fall in love with me immediately just because I see her, right? And neither am I interested."

Sami sighed as he sat on his bed. He glanced to the side of the room and saw Niko seriously playing one of the games on his tablet. Then, he dropped his body onto his bed and began thinking about his life so far.

"Ah, I hate when these thoughts come to me... They make me sad instantly. Well, let's change the mood about myself. I'll stop talking to you, me. What do you think?"

"Fine, I don't care. Do what you want."

"Good. So, readers, did you miss me? You missed me, didn't you? I'm Sami... Oh, well, everything is unclear, but who cares? It'll become clear with time. Maybe some of you are asking: what's the next step? Or what should I do? Damn you all, I can rest a little now. I'll live a battle-academy life like in manhwa, learn supernatural skills, discover my talents, get to know beautiful and strong girls, and so on. Isn't that enough for you?"

"What's that? Cliché? Damn you! I want it! But... you know, knowing myself, nothing will probably happen anyway."

"I need to stop talking to myself."

"Well, stop being pessimistic, me.

Let's hope for the best. In the end, I have no choice; I have to do my best to return to my family no matter the cost."
