As Sami was cursing his luck, the person standing at the door finally became clear. He was a tall man, powerfully built, dressed entirely in black, with a mask covering his face. The mask was oval, black in color with a white zigzag line in the center, and behind it flowed his emerald-red hair, adding to his strange and imposing appearance. His powerful physique, his black clothes full of belts, his strange mask... all of it exuded a suffocating and terrifying aura that made every Bound in the room tremble, as if a dreadful chill had penetrated their bones. Although the man was of the "Aspirant" rank, his presence was so horrifying that some thought he was a Lord. He was at the peak of his rank!
As for Sami, he was terrified to the extreme, sweating profusely like a waterfall, his lips trembling while his eyes darted in their sockets. This fear wasn't without reason; after all, Sami was familiar with this mask. Perhaps most humans didn't know it, but Sami had studied history enough to know that this man wasn't human... he was a Demon!
The man—the Demon—advanced and turned to face the Bound. Then he spoke in a commanding voice, devoid of any emotion, his oppressive tone making anyone who heard it want to obey immediately:
"Be silent... stay where you are without moving... anyone who moves, we will kill. Anyone who summons a weapon, we will kill. Anyone who tries to use their ability, we will kill. And anyone who speaks... we will kill. Now, freeze in place while we do our job."
Then he turned and sighed, saying in a low voice as if talking to himself:
"Damn... why do they assign me a silly mission like this?"
Despite his indifferent tone, everyone in the facility was in a state of absolute terror, and the most concerning thing was their complete silence. No one dared to move, no one spoke; everyone just froze in their places, obeying out of terror of this man and his ability to carry out his threat. Some closed their eyes in resignation, while others looked on in anger, and others hoped for a miracle...
As for Sami, he also closed his eyes in resignation, or so it seemed at least. He hadn't expected this person to be here instead of the supervisor, hadn't expected the Colosseum's strong system to be breached, or that the clan itself might have fallen! Worse still, those who breached it were... Demons?! This made no sense at all, but he was in a clear situation now: he had been captured and was now at the mercy of this Demon.
"Damn... how do I get out of this?"
Luckily, Sami hadn't been wasting his time after leaving the ordeal. He had been expecting something like this. So, he studied his abilities seriously, knew everything about his aspect, analyzed it, and thought of a thousand ways to use it. And by sheer luck, it seemed he had already summoned his sword and hadn't dismissed it...
Name: [Moon Sword]
Type: Weapon
Rank: Third
Description: [An entity carrying the will of the proud Moon Demons, seeking vengeance for them]
Skills:
[Demon Sight:] The ability to see in any environment, no matter how dark or bright, as long as you hold the sword with both hands.
[Moonbeam:] The sword can release an impenetrable, bright beam for thirty seconds, repelling darkness.
[Desert Cleaver:] This sword can cut through and distort concepts, as long as you know what you want to cut and possess sufficient desire to do so, it will cut it for you.
These were the three skills Sami currently possessed, and he had to exploit them in the best way possible.
Sami raised his sword with both hands, even though his body was numb and trembling, while that intrusive cold still penetrated him. He was very scared, but fear was meaningless now. He raised his sword towards the Demon, and before he could turn to him in a split second, he activated his ability:
[Moonbeam]
In an instant, the place was filled with a pure, white, impenetrable beam. Then Sami ran directly towards the Demon! It wasn't a wise decision, but he was betting on his intelligence; a veteran warrior like this Demon would react to the situation within a second and would try to run in the opposite direction to catch him. So, Sami decided to beat him to it.
[Demon Sight]
Suddenly, he could see amidst this bright light! He wasn't sure if this move would work, but he bet on it... and succeeded! It seemed the sword's abilities didn't interfere with each other.
He ran at his maximum speed, raised his sword high, and activated the [Desert Cleaver] ability. He was heading towards the door, and he knew that behind it was the lock he couldn't open earlier. Remembering the supervisor's clean cut, he raised his sword and brought it down in a flash, so fast that he lost control of his hand for a moment. But he knew what he wanted to cut, he needed to cut it, he had to cut it, and he would do it.
In a moment, the iron shattered, and the door swung open!
Less than five seconds had passed since he started his plan, but it felt like an eternity. As soon as he was out the door, without slowing down, he felt a terrifying presence behind him. It was right above him, as if his whole body was screaming in danger.
"Damn... how did he adapt so quickly?! Damn veteran warriors! It seems I've lost... but no, there's no room for loss, no matter the cost!"
Sami stretched out his hand, in which he held a small bottle filled with a strange black acidic liquid. Well, it seemed the paranoia he had, which made him always carry a dose of "Skullcrusher" venom in his pocket, was paying off now!
Sami threw himself violently to the ground, ignoring any kind of protective stance. But he wasn't fast enough; he felt a burning pain pierce through his arm. It had been cut from the shoulder to the elbow! A waterfall of blood flowed, but he didn't care about that. He turned over, flipped onto his back, and threw the bottle towards the man.
Despite the mask, Sami could see the man clearly... that black mask, that red hair... he was terrifying. But he noticed something important: the man couldn't see clearly in this bright light! He was standing in a defensive posture, but he was definitely relying on his other senses. Which, in some way, certainly played a role equal to, if not better than, Sami's eyes.
When the man sensed the bottle approaching, he moved his sword swiftly, making a sideways thrust to shatter it...
This was... the biggest mistake he could make!
Sami smiled despite the pain racking his body, hoping the venom would burn through this Demon's body, giving him a chance to escape...
