Chapter 209 - chapter 9

Hamar didn't let go of stopping them yet and so he asked, "Then how can they still use some sort of techniques? The fire hand and tentacles?"

Su Ban furrowed his brows and paused for a moment before explained, "You really must be confused, did you just come out of seclusion? I've heard of problems with memory after seclusion..."

Hamar chuckled, "something like that,"

Su Ban slowed down and explained, "They were using body cultivation and...well I'll explain the first for now. Body cultivation isn't actually blocked in here, so causing your own hand to combust is fine actually."

Hamar thought about what he knew of body cultivation. He knew it's using laws and their resonance to create effects rather than directly releasing them.

He sighed as he complained to himself, 'Too bad my aura would destroy laws of I tried body cultivation...'

"Okay but what about the tentacles?"

"That is a bit trickier...there's two reasons I can think of. The first one is simple, he took tentacles from a other monster and implanted them into himself. By doing so he should be able use laws naturally like that monster but..."

Hamar already knew what he was going to say, "Its very dangerous?"

"Yes, both physically and mentally. If your body rejects the transplant, then it could kill you easily. And then even if it works...mentally it could cause madness. And then that doesn't even go into if the laws leak into the human part and cause mutations."

Hamar could see Su Ban held some disdain for transplants but at the same time he felt a sort of... jealousy.

Then as Su Ban was going to continue, he was where he was leading Hamar to. He held out his hand to show a snake circling a young woman.

"Uh...seems like the guy escaped or...maybe this is him" he kicked at a pile of ash on the floor.

He took one of the orbs floating around him and held it out. Then the snake circling the woman glowed and turned into a ray of light as it went into the orb.

Hamar's eyes flashed and caused Su Ban to chuckle, "we all have some methods to get past restrictions, just as you do, I do."

Instead of asking more, Hamar tactfully nodded and turned to the young woman. He held his hand for her to sit up.

"T-thank you"

As Hamar helped her up he had direct contact and his intuition allowed him to get a sense of the laws she cultivated.

"It's nothing, but will you be safe. If you got caught one time, what's to say they'll do it again?"

The woman's eyes flicked and tears started to form. She held Hamar's hands and looked duo pleading,

"Please help me!"

Hamar turned his head, "I'll help how I can, but I'm not a god or saviour"

She squeezed tighter, "please take my spirit stone! All I ask is to bring me to a safe mortal city!"

Hamar looked into her eyes and felt like this was a reasonable request. He thought back to what he was going to do, he was wanting to invite Xuan Yu to the city but...

'After the corruption I've seen...I shouldn't stay too much longer. Who's to say that tentacle person has a stronger connection to the big cultivator than I thought. I shouldn't court death by staying longer than needed.'

He nodded, "Okay. I can do that. I have an acquaintance who should be able to help you...since you have a spirit stone you should be able to use QI even if you can't cultivate?"

"Yes, yes!"

Hamar ruffled the woman's hair, "Then I'm sure you can help and be protected by this person."

He pulled out a jade slip from his robe and handed it over. When you're in a safe location, break this. And..." Hamar closed his eyes.

He brought up a portion of mental energy and imbued some meaning. He was creating a package of memory.

He thought back to his time at the academy, while he couldn't use laws like everyone else because of his aura, he did know some tricks.

He brought out some cognition laws from his connection to Hou's body. As he did, he noticed the poison laws still being absorbed. He put that aside for when he comes to the information brokers and pulled out those cognition laws.

He wrapped his mental energy with the info he needed in those laws and sent them into the jade slip.

"That should explain your circumstances to my friend. Good luck."

The woman held the jade slip as her tears fell. She started crying but at the same time she undid her iev a little and exposed her upper chest.

Hamar averted his gaze but then heard her chuckle. "This is where my spirit stone is"

Hamar looked back to see a purple crystal implanted din the woman's chest. It pulsated as if a part of her.

Hamar looked to Du Ban for help on how to extract it safely. He shrugged.

Hamar looked back over and thought of a solution, "just tell me if it hurts."

He reached into where the stone was and use a small amount of aura to destroy the flesh and laws connecting her to the stone.

This started to break the stone and cause some laws to dissipate but after a few moments he stopped and pulled out the stone intact.

The woman threw her arms over Hamar and cried, "thank you!" Then she ran off while clutching the jade slip.

Hamar held the stone confused as he turned for Su Ban for a sort of explanation. Su Ban sighed and explained,

"She had a spirit stone and implanted it into her body, using that stone to absorb laws. Then she would use mental energy to manipulate those laws, the stone having accepted her body and energy as it's owner. Its a way for even the talentless to cultivate but it limits external cultivation techniques since the stones are fragile."

He added, "And she wanted it removed since as you saw...cultivators get hunted for their spirit stone souls to make into spirit stones...but in their case, it was even easier. A weaker person with a spirit stone already formed."

Hamar nodded, "I...understand." he squeezed the stone a moment before placing it in his robe.

He turned to Su Ban, "Bring me to the information brokers and after that I'll leave. I'll have to refuse your offer of food."

Su Ban sighed, "That's understandable, and I would do the same. Come follow me quickly."

Hamar quicky ran with Su Ban as he thought what he wanted to ask those brokers, 'First and most important is anything about Hou. All I know is that he's in a place with a lot of poison laws...perhaps they can gather something if I hand then some of the laws? And secondly, I should check if I can find that tentacle person and take them out before I leave...disgusting criminals!'
