"Darling!, dinner is ready!" the scream is heard from the dining room, where two people are sitting at the table.
"oh I'm coming ma!" Ciel shouts from her bedroom, while she energetically runs towards where her family is.
"How delicious everything looks!" she exclaims as she looks over the rustic and old table of his humble home, a variety of small plates with a variety of foods, vegetables, meat, fish.
"Today is your 16th birthday, it is our custom to have the big farewell party, although unfortunately, we could only pay for one dinner..." says the mother, Micaela Rand, Ciel Yi is her only daughter, Micaela wanted to have many children, but the economic situation of the family only allows them to have one.
In Orione town there is a tradition, when someone reaches the age of 16, it is time to start studies in the closest city, the city of Blue Port. Families usually send them off with a big party that day knowing that they will not see their children for perhaps many years.
"Thank you very much mom! Everything looks delicious, I don't know where to start" says Ciel, each little plate has peculiar designs, and Ciel Yi feels ashamed to destroy those little works of art that her mother achieved with food, Micaela Rand Feeling guilty that she couldn't organize a party for her due to lack of money, she put great efforts into making each plate look attractive and used all her creativity to decorate each plate with various designs.
eat before it gets cold!" the mother exclaims with a frown.
"Hehe okay okay" Ciel says as she attacks each plate ruthlessly upon seeing her mother's angry expression.
Her mother, seeing her start to eat with relish, reflects an expression of happiness from her.
"Do you already know what are you going to study in Blue Port?" asks Tar Yi, the father.
In the continent of Eden, strength is everything, the world is ruled by Cultivators, martial artists who cultivate inner Qi.
The dream of every young man is to become a legendary Cultivator and fly through the skies and be on top of the world. but only those with talent are chosen by the sects and academies to be instructed. the rest of the people must find a good teacher to teach them a trade, or enter some academy of letters and become a scholar, whose wisdom is respected and enjoys a good social status.
Ciel Yi is a very intelligent young woman and she knows how strict and difficult the entrance exams are to be a cultivator and although there are women famous for their strength, it is a field where at least It is generally male dominated.
She is not interested in that, far from any ambition, her only goal is to be able to earn enough money for her family to live well, and not have to suffer hardship and the contempt of the neighbors for being a poor family.
In the past, Tar Yi and Micaela Rand met in Blue Port, they were both students of a reputable tailor, and decided to set up their clothing store in Orione town.
But the governor's daughter, Lara Kim known for her beauty as the No. 1 in town, she took a liking for Blue Port clothing style and hired a tailor to come to town to run her clothing store.
In a small town like this, people often long for big cities, and also because of her beauty, reputation and status as the governor's daughter, the clothing store is a hit with the townspeople.
Unfortunately for the Ciel family, only those who have few resources and cannot get a garment from the tailor at Lara Kim's store decide to buy at the store, this turned her store into a product for the poor, or for people of low social status.
"I will try to take the exam at the Living Books academy, and become a scholar!" Ciel says.
"oh! I wish you luck! I know you can, although if you don't, don't feel hopeless, there are still other things you can do, hear that there is a new botanist Franco Taylor in Blue Port, and it is said that he is looking for apprentices who can help him with his herbarium" said Tar Yi.
Botany is a respected profession, botanists must memorize hundreds of herbs, how to care for them and their properties, and they are often in contact with the famous alchemists who produce pills and elixirs using herbs, capable of curing wounds, poisons and diseases, there are also the legendary spiritual pills that help the cultivation of inner Qi, pills and elixirs are very expensive items and are only affordable by wealthy people, spiritual pills are of an even higher price, being something that only the aristocracy can consume in Blue Port, things like these are things of legend in a remote town like Orione.
"Yes, don't worry, I'll try!" Ciel replied.
