Chapter 208 - chapter 8

"If you what's good for you, stop there and let the girl go." Hamar had a serious expression as he sized up the four people harassing the woman.

The first one was a large guy with exposed muscles, they were extremely large and Hamar could tell he was a body cultivator. He was also the one with a fire on his hand.

The second person was a small skinny person wearing a hood so he couldn't look at their face. Though he was small he stopping the woman from escaping easily.

The third and fourth looked to be simple help, neither of them had particular oddities and did not stand out.

That big fire-handed cultivator stopped and looked back to Hamar, "Move out of here cultivator, you must be new. We rule these streets, just leave and we won't do nothing."

(Author note: yes I know that's a double negative, just his speech pattern.)

Hamar flicked his eyes, muttering, "cultivator..." He kept his hand hovering over his sword as he asked,

"So you all aren't cultivators? It doesn't matter, either way you can't do this. I'll stop you and get the big boss to determine your fate."

As Hamar said this, the two ordinary people helping the ruffians turned their heads and snickered. At the same time, the main big guy threw back his head and laughed aloud.

"You? You'll tell the big boss?" He slapped his knee and explained, "Big boss is our big boss! We work for him, or...we cooperate."

Hamar hand twitched, he started to draw his blade.

"Stop that cultivator, right now. Remember, you can't use techniques in here. And what can you do with a flimsy broken blade?" The large man continued to taunt.

Hamar fully drew the sword and held it out in front of him, injected into aura into the blade. He made a visible aura to appear, a sort of purple flame.

This time, the small shrouded person who was holding onto the still-screaming woman touched the fire-handed man on the back, "Switch."

The two switched roles as the fire-handed man held tightly onto the woman, causing her screams to become more visceral as his hand burned her skin.

The small shrouded man looked up to Hamar, "You can still use techniques...how?" In his eyes Hamar didn't see any fear.

"I have my ways. Are you scared? I don't sense any cultivated laws from you either, even if big boss gave you permission to use techniques you don't have any. I do."

Hamar looked back towards the flame-handed man, "so stop."

Hamar felt the ground rumble and he took a few steps backwards. At the same time his intuition wanted him and he quickly burst into the air.

Where he once stood, the ground cracked and a tentacles snapped out. He dodged dot narrowly and looked towards the shrouded figure who he could now see was the source of the tentacle.

"I guess we're doing this the hard way!" Hamar slashed his blade towards the shrouded figure and then solidified aura on his foot.

He sprang into action and leaving the aura blade to hit the one using tentacles, he went to help the woman.

The fight started and the two ordinary helper saw they were unmatched and ran away. At the same time, warning those around to evacuated the scene.

Su Ban saw the commotion start and watched form afar. He plucked one of the other which were floating by him and threw it out.

"Go now, catch 'em" he whispered and then left the scene.

Hamar shot forward but as he thrusted to attack the flame-handed man, he pushed his hand o to the ground.

The wet stone erupted into a cloud of vapour. Hamar used his intuition to continue tracking but as he did, his concentration was broken.

He was busy and failed to notice another tentacle having broken out the ground and caught onto his leg.

It pulled down and Hamar felt the tug. He started to fall and used aura to 'burn' the laws of the tentacle. As he did, he realised it was not like a technique...it was material.

This caused his aura to have a reduced effect, still harming the underlying laws of the tentacle but not completely destroying it.

He fell to the ground and quickly let out a burst of aura to disperse the vapour. The tentacle man had unleashed his true form and slithered quickly towards him.

Hamar stabbed at crucial points that connected the tentacles to the man, causing him to stop in place. Then he sharpeend his focus on charged for a second.

Then in a single continuous movement, he swing his blade through each of the man's tentacles, incapacitating him.

The tentacles began to grow back and Hamar stepped on the figure, injecting aura into the stumps. He held the man up and questioned him, "Where would your friend go?"

"Hahahaha" the man's face was twisted and he didn't seem coherent. He bit his tongue and then completely transformed.

His human body morphed to match the...implanted dtentscles along his lower half. He became a slippery and he split himself to escape out of Hamar's hand.

Hamar threw the half of the 'man' he left behind and started to run after the remaining tentacles which seemed to have the brain.

"I can't risk using aura and just killing him! Frustrating!"

Just as he was getting away and Hamar was debating on simply killing him, Su Ban appeared. He let the octopus man go past him,

"Let him leave, more trouble to kill him. Think whether he has supports don't create unneeded trouble."

Hamar kept his blade drawn, "Don't stop me, I can't just let them go. I should at least save that young cultivator."

Su Ban nodded, "ugh...I already saved them. Just follow me and let them go. They're not too dangerous but they have a connection to the big cultivator of the city."

"Yeah I heard that, what's that? What's their connection?"

Su Ban walked past Hamar as he explained, "They aren't cultivators but they hunt cultivators. In here, they and cultivators are fairly similar and they kill cultivators in order to extract their spirit stones."

Hamar flinched as he followed by, he thought to himself, 'So it's as I thought...spirit stones are made from cultivators souls. In a sense that spirit stone I had injected with death laws was already, in a sense, filled with death'

As he finished that thought he felt a coldness expand within him. The spirit stone which held those death laws expanded.

From within in, dark wisps of black death laws expanded. The death dragon snake within murdered too quiet for Hamar to hear, "So he figured out something...he comprehended more about the Death Dao huh"
