Chapter 138: Is Lu Bu a Void Ancient Dragon?
"Huh? Lu Bu got injured?" Xiao Yan's eyes lit up, and he immediately broke into a sly grin. You finally have your day!
If he had a habit of drinking, or drinking buddies, Xiao Yan would have already raised a large celebratory toast tonight!
However, behind him, Xiao Xun'er, who was holding onto him, furrowed her delicate brows. That fleeting flash of purple gold light, though faint, did not escape her keen senses.
For a brief moment, a faint yet terrifying aura passed by so intimidating that even she, with her noble bloodline, felt a trace of fear.
This wasn't the pressure of overwhelming strength or cultivation but rather a deep seated suppression originating from the soul and bloodline itself.
"This guy… really isn't simple," Xiao Xun'er thought as her eyes gleamed sharply. For someone to cause such suppression to her bloodline, there were very few on the entire continent who could achieve that!
But… which faction could he belong to?
Xiao Xun'er's delicate brows furrowed further. That fleeting purple gold radiance none of the eight ancient clans had such a bloodline ability.
And his behavior? It didn't resemble someone from an imperial bloodline either.
A genius of this level would have been carefully nurtured by his clan's elders, pampered with all the resources he could desire, provided everything he needed, and spared the hardships of competing for cultivation resources.
Yet Lu Bu? He wasn't like that at all.
For a few cultivation resources, he schemed against Xiao Yan gege and her, using every trick in the book to snatch some relatively mediocre resources from them.
This behavior was more akin to the rogue cultivators of the Black Corner Region those with no power, no background, and no influence.
Thinking this, Xiao Xun'er's frown deepened. Let's observe a little longer. After all, forces capable of rivaling the eight ancient clans are not limited to them alone.
In the sky above, when Elder Zhou's signature technique, the "Spirit Sword Finger," only managed to break Lu Bu's skin, Mo Ya's entire body trembled with rage, his face pale as he bit his lips.
"How… how can this guy be so strong?!" Mo Ya's confidence began to crumble.
"He's just a student!"
Originally full of confidence, Mo Ya had set a meticulous trap with three Dou Huangs, determined to kill Lu Bu and wash away his shame.
But nothing was going as planned. Lu Bu had apparently seen through the ambush from the very beginning.
Not only that, but he even pretended to be injured to lure Mo Ya into making a move, almost severing both of Mo Ya's hands. If not for Elder Zhou's timely intervention, Mo Ya might not have survived.
Yet, despite being surrounded, Lu Bu remained calm and composed as though it were Mo Ya who was the prey, and he the hunter.
Behind him, sensing Mo Ya's chaotic Dou Qi and surging blood, Elder Zhou frowned. This young master of his was hopeless.
To lose his composure and have his Qi destabilized after just one setback how could he possibly keep fighting?
"Trash," Lu Bu sneered disdainfully from not far away.
In the Black Corner Region, fighting and killing were never the first options. Ambushes and sneak attacks were.
The goal was always to achieve maximum profit with minimal cost and time.
Mo Ya, with his youthful arrogance and obsession over minor losses and gains, clearly hadn't learned this. If he weren't from a powerful background, he'd have been dead long ago.
"Calm yourself, Young Master!" Elder Zhou pressed a hand on Mo Ya's shoulder, his cold Dou Qi forcing Mo Ya's turbulent energy and mind to settle.
Mo Ya regained clarity, realizing how he had lost control of himself. Unfortunately… it was already too late.
"I'm not going to wait for you to adjust your state of mind or experience some spiritual transformation," Lu Bu said, his eyes suddenly flashing with a purple gold light.
His originally dark eyes turned sharp and piercing in an instant.
"Young Master, be careful!"
Elder Zhou reacted swiftly, his fingers coming together as an intense, blade like aura enveloped his entire body.
On the ground, Xiao Yan's expression shifted as he sensed the change.
In his perception, the battlefield above now felt as though a drawn blade had appeared, its razor sharp aura cutting through the heavens.
"That old guy has terrifying sword intent!" Xiao Yan muttered in shock.
In the sky, Elder Zhou roared as white, chilling light condensed on his fingertips, his aura climbing higher and higher.
But in the next instant, his eyes met a pair of terrifying purple gold dragon eyes exuding boundless majesty.
"Huh?"
In Xiao Yan's mind, Yao Lao suddenly let out a soft exclamation.
"Teacher, what's wrong?" Xiao Yan immediately asked. Had Yao Lao discovered something?
"Lu Bu isn't right!" Yao Lao said gravely. "At first, I thought the pressure from him was due to his soul strength, but something doesn't add up!"
"This brat's soul might be strong, but it shouldn't be stronger than mine. Yet, I still felt suppressed!"
"What?!" Xiao Yan was stunned. Based on the bits and pieces he'd gleaned, his teacher was a Dou Zun level powerhouse, a renowned figure even across the entire continent.
And Lu Bu? How could he possibly compare?
"I don't know either… but his aura is strange," Yao Lao murmured, seemingly deep in thought.
Xiao Xun'er, unaware of Xiao Yan's inner turmoil, stared intently at the battle above, her brows furrowed as she tried to make sense of what she was seeing.
Thump thump, thump thump!
Elder Zhou's heartbeat raced, a primal urge to kneel and worship surging from deep within his soul. His attack faltered and dissipated.
Whoosh!
Lu Bu's figure moved like a ghost, appearing right in front of Elder Zhou. His hand, covered in metallic scales, pressed against Elder Zhou's chest, effortlessly piercing through his Dou Qi defenses.
The clawed hand looked both beastly and humanoid, its golden scales gleaming ominously with terrifying power and defense.
"Your swordsmanship is lacking," Lu Bu said coldly as he unleashed a burst of energy from his palm.
"No…"
Boom!
Elder Zhou's chest caved in, blood gushing from his mouth.
"Elder Zhou!"
On the ground, Elder Li, who was locked in a fierce battle with Lu Bu's puppet, cried out. Breaking free from the puppet's entanglement, he launched a massive lightning orb at Lu Bu.
Lu Bu dodged effortlessly, the lightning crashing into the forest below.
Seizing the opportunity, Elder Li grabbed the severely injured Elder Zhou and retreated.
"Protect the young master!" Elder Zhou croaked through bloodied lips, his face pale.
But it was too late.
Lu Bu had already appeared behind Mo Ya like a phantom.
"Behind you, Young Master!" Elder Li roared in desperation.
Mo Ya froze as a cold chill ran down his spine. In a panic, he crushed a silver jade talisman.
Boom!
A spatial barrier formed just in time to block Lu Bu's attack. The force sent Mo Ya hurtling into the forest.
Lu Bu's eyes narrowed. Another spatial barrier, huh…
In the forest, Mo Ya's face was ashen. Can I escape again this time?
"Give it up!" Lu Bu said mockingly as he landed in front of Mo Ya.
"Hahaha! You'll never break this barrier!" Mo Ya shouted defiantly.
"Is that so…"
Lu Bu's purple gold eyes glinted as his clawed hand began to morph.
In an instant, it transformed into a massive dragon claw, radiating cold, menacing light.
An overwhelming aura descended, suffocating Mo Ya and sending his soul trembling in fear.
"You… you…" Mo Ya stammered in terror.
Lu Bu smirked, his dragon claw gripping the spatial barrier.
Crack, crack, crack…
The once impenetrable barrier began to splinter.
On the ground, Xiao Xun'er suddenly sat up, her face grave as she stared in the direction of Lu Bu and Mo Ya.
"Xun'er?" Xiao Yan asked, startled.
"Void Ancient Dragon," Xiao Xun'er said solemnly. "Lu Bu… is a Void Ancient Dragon?"
