I was midway through reorganizing my bookshelf when the door creaked open behind me.
It wasn't a timid creak. It was the kind of slow, intentional, annoying noise made by someone who absolutely wanted to be heard. And sure enough, when I turned around, Eren was leaning against the doorframe like he thought he was a crime show detective on a dramatic reveal.
I narrowed my eyes. "Get out."
"I haven't said anything yet."
"You didn't need to." I turned back to my shelf and shoved a book in harder than necessary. "You're radiating 'I'm here to bother you' energy."
"Correction," he said, striding in like he owned the place, "I'm here with a very important intellectual inquiry."
I didn't answer.
Still, Eren plopped down dramatically on my bed and made a show of bouncing once, twice. "So, how smart is Caius, really?"
I froze with my hand on a spine labeled Strategic Magic Formations in the South Coven Territories. "What?"
