Chapter 16 - Chapter 15: Memories Of Pain

Jimin stood by the window, watching the bright moon light up the sky. Tall trees swayed in the cool breeze. He felt satisfied because he had finally shattered the peace of Riverfalls, the sinister town.

The pain in his wounded chest faded for a while after feeding on a human heart, but his mind still swirled with old, painful memories. He couldn't forget what happened twenty years ago—how humanity crushed him under Professor Ben's cruelty, how the people from the Secret Organization tortured him, and how much humiliation he endured.

Jimin needed revenge. He wanted to make everyone who worked for the organization pay. The old man and two women he killed were just the beginning. Many more people were responsible for his suffering, and he still had a long way to go.

As the night grew darker, smoky clouds covered the moon. Jimin remembered another harsh night from his past. His heart raced as the memories flooded back. He could still feel the cold air and hear the loud shouts from that time. The fear he felt then rushed through him again, making it hard to breathe.

Jimin lay on the cold, hard floor of a rusty prison cell. Thick iron bars surrounded him, locking him inside. Outside the cell, groups of armed officers marched through the narrow hallway. Their heavy boots echoed loudly, and the sound of their weapons clinking filled the air. Jimin stayed still, listening to their footsteps grow louder and then fade away.

Almost a year had passed since humans captured Jimin. Every week, Professor Ben dragged him into a dark room to cut him apart while recording videos as proof. It wasn't just painful—it was humiliating.

"I'm studying your kind so we can create a hybrid between humans and Aquanis," Professor Ben had said coldly, as if Jimin were an object, not a living being.

After each surgery, Professor Ben left Jimin to suffer in unbearable pain. Aquanis needed water to maintain their powers; without it, they grew weak, and their healing ability slowed. For almost a year, Professor Ben observed how an Aquanis could survive in conditions that would kill a human.

Without water, Jimin's wounds healed slowly, and he endured intense pain. But unlike humans, Aquanis were immortal. They could survive even in such harsh conditions. Still, the lack of water and constant pain pushed Jimin's mind into darkness.

Jimin had given up hope. His body grew weaker every day. His skin turned dry and pale, peeling off in patches. His once-bright eyes now looked dull and empty. He could barely move, and his breathing became shallow. He no longer had the strength to send telepathic signals to Jungkook.

The iron bars creaked as Professor Ben opened the door and stepped inside, followed by two muscular men.

Jimin lifted his head weakly, his dry, cracked lips trembling as he tried to speak. His body ached all over, and the pain from his wounds burned like fire.

Fear gripped Jimin as Professor Ben and the two men entered the room. His breathing quickened, and his hands shook as he tried to push himself away, but his weak body wouldn't obey. He felt helpless, like a trapped animal.

"Good morning, Aquanis," Professor Ben greeted with a devilish smirk.

Jimin's eyes widened with dread as Professor Ben approached. Memories of past surgeries and unbearable pain flashed through his mind. He wanted to scream, to fight back, but he was too weak.

"Please… no more," Jimin begged, his voice trembling. "I can't… take it anymore. Just… let me go." His voice came out as a hoarse whisper, barely audible. Tears welled up in his eyes as he struggled to speak. "You've taken… everything from me. What more… do you want?" His voice broke, and he coughed weakly, his body shuddering.

Professor Ben stared down at him coldly, unmoved by Jimin's pleas. "You've started to speak in the human language," he said. "When you first came here, you couldn't speak because of your native tongue."

Jimin's heart sank. He realized his words meant nothing. He was completely at their mercy, and the thought filled him with terror. He barely managed to turn toward Professor Ben, the heavy chains making every movement painful.

"Why… are you doing this to me?" Jimin asked in a low voice.

Professor Ben stepped closer. "I told you, I'm studying you so I can create new beings using your DNA," he explained, flashing another devilish smile. "But don't worry, today I'm not performing any surgery. I have a surprise for you," he said.

Jimin's body stiffened. His heart pounded, and his dry lips parted slightly in fear. He didn't know what the surprise was, but he knew it couldn't be good. His mind raced, imagining the worst. His hands clenched into weak fists, and his breathing became uneven.

He wanted to ask what was coming, but the words stuck in his throat. Instead, he stared at Professor Ben with wide, fearful eyes, waiting for the next wave of pain or humiliation. His body trembled, and a cold sweat broke out on his skin. Whatever was about to happen, Jimin knew he wasn't ready.

Jungkook entered the room and pulled Jimin out of his thoughts. "I told you not to think about your past, and here you are, lost in those painful memories," he said, walking to the window.

Jimin sighed heavily. "It's not easy to forget," he replied sadly. Then, realizing something, he added, "Wait, are you spying on me?" He looked at Jungkook, who had clearly been watching him.

Jungkook scrunched his nose. "Last time, you lost control, and I had to use my magic, remember?" he said, pointing at Jimin.

Jimin raised his brows. "That doesn't mean you can read my thoughts. Stop it right now," he warned.

"And what if I don't?" Jungkook teased. "Are you afraid I might find out something I shouldn't?" he added, smirking.

Jimin exhaled sharply. "It's useless to talk to you," he said, turning toward the study table. His gaze fell on the wall, where he had pinned pictures of the people he planned to kill—those who worked for the organization that caused his pain.

"I've killed three of them. Now, I need to kill ten more. Once we finish our revenge, we'll leave this place," Jimin said, his eyes fixed on his targets.

"What about Professor Ben? We still have no clue about that bastard," Jungkook said, stepping closer to the study table and glaring at the pictures.

Jimin tilted his head slightly. "We'll find him too," he said. "David will lead us to him." His sharp gaze shifted to the last picture on the right side of the wall—Officer David Kim, one of Jimin's main targets. "And to control David, we need Anna and Serena… his daughters," he added.

Jungkook frowned. He stepped closer to the study table and stared at the pictures. "Let's make all these bastards pay for what they did to you," he said, his jaw tightening.

Jimin nodded, though his heart still felt heavy with pain.

"Anyway, I need to tell you something important," Jungkook said.

Jimin turned to him. "What is it?" he asked.

"The police are searching this area. They might find our place, and I'm sure they'll ask questions," Jungkook said. "I'm not afraid of the police, but what if David shows up and recognizes us?" he expressed his concern.

Jimin inhaled sharply, slipping his hands into his pockets. "Stop the investigation at any cost," he said. "And if David reaches us, we'll capture him."

"Okay, I'll use my magic to stop the investigation," Jungkook replied.

"Can you do it?" Jimin asked, sounding worried.

Jungkook chewed his lower lip. "Anything is possible for me because I'm JK," he said, spreading his arms arrogantly.

Jimin chuckled softly. "Okay, JK, but don't drain yourself," he said.

Jungkook nodded and headed back to the window, closing his eyes. Jimin quietly followed, knowing the power of his brother.

Jungkook stood by the window, his eyes closed and his hands slightly raised. A faint glow surrounded his fingertips as he focused his energy.

The air in the room grew heavy, and Jimin could feel the power building. Outside, the sky darkened quickly. Thick, black clouds rolled in, covering the moon and stars. The wind howled, shaking the trees violently.

Within moments, rain poured down in heavy sheets, pounding against the windows and roof. Thunder rumbled loudly, shaking the ground, and bright flashes of lightning lit up the sky. Jungkook's magic had turned the calm night into a raging storm.

He opened his eyes and smirked. "That should keep the police busy for a while," he said confidently. "No one will search for us in this weather."

Jimin nodded, impressed. "Good job, JK," he said, watching the storm through the window. "Now they'll have to deal with the storm instead of us."

Jungkook crossed his arms, still smiling. "Told you I could do it," he said proudly. "Now let's focus on our next move."
