Chapter 19 - Chapter 18: Brothers Concern

Anna felt petrified, her mind filled with the worst thoughts about Serena. If it were possible, she would go back in time and stay at home.

"But would Serena listen?" Anna thought. It seemed like an attempt to rid herself of her regrets. She now decided to put the blame on her father. He always messed up the family, but this time things went too far. Serena had disappeared, and no one knew where she was. It was scarier than witnessing her parents' fights.

She now diverted her attention on Jimin, as he pulled the car to the side of the road. She realized how long he had been driving quietly. He shouldn't be with her.

After all, Jimin was merely a stranger she had met about a month ago. However, his presence somehow brought a little comfort. At least her mind hadn't given up yet; her senses were still working, and she felt determined to find her sister.

"Let's go and check," Jimin said. He pushed the car door open and stepped outside.

Anna also let herself out of the car and followed Jimin to the pizza restaurant. She gazed up at the clear sky. After lasting the entire day, the heavy rain had stopped, but it had flooded the streets.

The restaurant was unusually empty, feeling even more deserted. She walked toward the entrance, her steps slow but determined.

"Anna," Jimin called.

Anna turned toward him.

"Go inside and check. I have a call to attend to," Jimin said as his phone rang constantly in his pocket.

"Alright," Anna replied and headed inside.

Jimin sighed heavily. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and answered.

"Why aren't you home yet?" Jungkook asked, his voice sharp.

"I'm busy with some work," Jimin replied, his tone calm but firm.

"I know you're hanging out with Anna," Jungkook said, his voice filled with irritation.

Jimin rolled his eyes. "I got into a situation. I need to get close to her, so I decided to help her."

"What happened?" Jungkook asked, his curiosity piqued.

Jimin explained quickly. "Serena disappeared. Anna's worried about her sister."

Jungkook paused for a second. "Did you eat her?" he asked suspiciously.

Jimin frowned. "I only kill people who are on the list. I didn't even touch Serena."

"Then where could she have disappeared?" Jungkook asked, his voice now serious.

"Maybe someone else is involved," Jimin said, his mind racing. He didn't like the feeling he was getting about Serena's disappearance. "I need you to find her. Search the forest. I don't feel good about this."

Jungkook groaned. "Why should I? She's not even close to me. We've never even talked. Why do I have to find her?"

Jimin's voice turned stern. "Because I need Anna to trust me. If we find Serena, she'll get closer to me. Now, go. And it'll give you a chance to get closer to Serena as well, if she's alive."

Jungkook sighed loudly but didn't argue further. "Fine."

Before ending the call, Jimin asked, "Why are you even using a phone? You could just send signals."

Jungkook chuckled. "Because it's fun."

Jimin shook his head, a small smile forming on his lips. He softly chuckled and ended the call.

Jungkook ended the call and stared at his phone for a moment. He felt a strange mix of emotions. Jimin was being extra careful with Anna, and it didn't sit well with him. Anna was the daughter of their enemy, David Kim. She wasn't supposed to matter this much.

He clenched his fists, frustration bubbling inside him. "Why is Jimin so concerned about her?" he muttered to himself. "She's just a human. Her father is the one who hurt us. She doesn't deserve this much attention."

Jungkook paced around the room, his mind racing. He couldn't understand why Jimin was going out of his way to help Anna. It didn't make sense. They had a plan—revenge. Anna and her family were part of that plan. Jimin wasn't supposed to care about her.

He stopped pacing and looked out the window. The storm he had created earlier was still raging outside. The rain poured heavily, and the wind howled. Jungkook's magic had done its job, but now he felt uneasy.

"Jimin is losing focus," he thought. "He's getting too close to her. This isn't good."

Jungkook sighed deeply. He knew Jimin had a soft heart, but this was different. This was about their revenge. They couldn't afford to let emotions get in the way.

He walked back to the study table and stared at the pictures pinned on the wall. David Kim's face stared back at him, cold and unfeeling. Jungkook's jaw tightened. "We can't forget what they did to us," he whispered. "We can't let Jimin forget either."

Jungkook made up his mind. He would keep an eye on Jimin. If Jimin was getting too close to Anna, he would step in. They had a mission, and nothing—not even Anna—could get in the way of that.

He turned away from the wall and headed toward the door. The storm outside was still strong, but Jungkook didn't care. He had work to do. He would find Serena, not because he cared about her, but because it was part of the plan. And if Jimin was losing focus, Jungkook would make sure he stayed on track.

As he stepped out into the rain, Jungkook's resolve hardened. He wouldn't let Jimin's feelings for Anna ruin everything. They had waited too long for revenge. Nothing would stop them now.
