Sophia Wood and Alice Turner returned home one after the other. After Sophia stepped into the house, she headed straight to the living room. Alice, following her in, exchanged a few words with Aunt Hua who opened the door for them, and then she proceeded to the living room as well.
"Mom! Do you want some water?"
"No!"
Alice could see that Sophia was still upset. She had a lot she wanted to say to Sophia, but she felt that this was not the right moment.
She thought to herself that she would wait until Christopher Turner came back at noon, which might increase the chances of success.
"Alice! Tell me the truth, did Lily know that Mr. Holmes long before?" After a long silence, Sophia couldn't hold back any longer and was the first to speak, breaking the somewhat awkward silence.
