Chapter 300 - Chapter 297: Christmas Night

A month had passed since the source of fear was vanquished. Today was Christmas, a day typically marked by unity. On this occasion, family members, no matter how far apart, would strive to reunite, decorating homes, preparing meals, and celebrating together to foster a warm, joyful atmosphere. These activities strengthened familial bonds and deepened emotional connections.

However, with Chino's large household, they decided to draw lots to determine whose home they would visit for the holiday.

"Black Phoenix, no cheating," Chino warned, glancing at the energy glow emanating from her.

"I'm not! I just burped from eating too much!" Black Phoenix retorted stubbornly.

Chino had already seen through her. "Fine, let's do it again," he said, collecting the lots and starting over. This time, when Black Phoenix tried to interfere, he handed her a Life Fruit. For the sake of the fruit, she refrained from causing trouble.

The final result pointed to Gwen's house. "Alright, grab the gifts we bought, and let's head out," Chino announced.

At George's house, George was initially thrilled when Gwen called to say she'd be home for Christmas. But when he opened the door, his mood soured at the sight of a particularly unwelcome face. He couldn't understand how his steadfast fatherly devotion contrasted with Chino's blatant flirtations.

"Uncle George, long time no see," Chino greeted with a bright smile, politely offering a gift to ease the awkward tension.

"Hmph," George responded with a curt nod. Maria, standing beside him, gave him a nudge and accepted the gift warmly.

"Little Chino, it's been ages since you visited! And Chino's wives, come in, come in!" Maria said, beaming as she welcomed them.

"Mr. George, Mrs. Maria, these are our gifts," Venom said, handing over their presents. Each person carried a unique offering.

George's demeanor softened toward the women, a faint smile breaking through as he welcomed them. Venom, Pamela, Gwen, Xi, Jean, Harley, Black Phoenix, Wanda, Lorna, and Galacta were all present, making George's home feel somewhat cramped. Moreover, the food prepared seemed insufficient for the group.

"Why don't we eat out?" Maria suggested.

"No need. Leave it to me," Chino replied. He traced his fingers through the air, weaving runes that embedded themselves into every corner of the room. Finally, two circular runes appeared in Maria and George's palms.

"Little Chino, what are these?" Maria asked.

"They're controllers. Try spinning the circle with your finger," Chino explained.

Maria pressed her finger to the rune and rotated it once, then twice, but nothing happened. "Keep spinning, Maria," George's voice called from a distance.

"Oh my gosh!" Maria gasped, turning to look. The room had expanded dramatically, resembling a giant's chamber. George, who had been nearby moments ago, now stood twenty meters away.

"What's going on, Chino?" George asked cautiously, pacing through the strangely vast yet familiar room, his heart pounding with awe.

"I've modified the room's spatial dimensions. It can stretch up to a hundred times its original size and has formidable defensive capabilities—even a nuclear bomb couldn't breach it," Chino explained.

"Thank you, Chino! Now I can buy new furniture. I don't know how to thank you enough," Maria said, overjoyed, hugging Chino tightly.

"You've already given me your most precious treasure," Chino said, glancing at Gwen, who blushed and lowered her head shyly.

George sighed helplessly from the side. If only this guy were more faithful.

Curious, George toyed with the rune in his hand, making the room expand and contract playfully.

"Dad, enough playing. When's dinner?" Gwen asked, catching George off guard. He met her and Maria's amused gazes and coughed awkwardly.

"Ahem, I'll bring out the turkey. Chino, come help," George said.

"Got it, Uncle George," Chino replied, following him to the kitchen.

With limited food, especially considering Black Phoenix and Galacta's voracious appetites, Chino took charge of cooking. He had learned a few tricks from Pamela.

George handled the turkey, placing it in the oven, and watched Chino cook. Seeing the Demon King himself prepare a meal was surprising.

"Can't you just stick to one person?" George asked.

"No way. Once someone's mine, they stay mine. Even if they don't want to, I won't let go. I'm the greedy Demon King, after all," Chino said earnestly.

George was momentarily speechless. Given Chino's status, Gwen was arguably reaching above her station. His lingering resentment stemmed from a father's reluctance and worry for his daughter.

"Besides, Uncle George, opening a harem is actually the best way to maintain long-term relationships," Chino added.

"That's nonsense… but go on," George said, intrigued despite himself.

"I'll exist for a very, very long time—possibly until Earth itself is gone. Gwen, too, since she's with me, her life essence has changed. But Uncle George, do you really think a single romantic relationship can endure such an eternity without changing?" Chino asked.

George fell silent. The love between him and Maria had long since transformed into familial affection rather than passion.

"It's difficult," George admitted.

"So, by having multiple partners, I ensure Gwen has companionship through the ages. Their emotions enrich her world, keeping her feelings vibrant and preventing loneliness. It also reduces the chance of conflicts or arguments between us," Chino explained.

"Are you sure this is for Gwen and not just your excuse to build a harem?" George asked, his years as a police officer telling him this was partly sophistry, yet it held some truth.

"Of course it's for the harem! I'm a bona fide Demon King from hell. Instead of destroying the world, I'm just building a harem. Uncle George, you should thank me," Chino said, chuckling.

"Thank you, my foot! Hurry up and cook. Letting your wives go hungry doesn't make you a good husband," George shot back, half-laughing, half-exasperated. His lingering resentment toward Chino dissipated unnoticed.

"Yes, Father George," Chino teased.

"We're not married yet. Don't call me Dad," George corrected.

"Alright, Father dearest," Chino quipped.

"You little…" George muttered.

Outside, several women overheard the exchange and exchanged amused glances. Gwen, hearing Chino's repeated "Dad" and "Father," blushed deeply.

Maria stroked her daughter's blonde hair, pulling her aside to whisper about precautions, children, and frequency—words that carried clearly to everyone in the room despite the distance.

Gwen's face turned crimson as she hurriedly covered her mother's mouth. "Mom!"

"So cute, little spider. I wanna eat her up," Harley said, her eyes glinting mischievously as she moved toward Gwen.

Her ear suddenly stung as Pamela grabbed it. "No trouble today," Pamela warned with a smile, her grip unrelenting.

"Ow, Red…" Harley whined, resorting to a pitiful pout.

Unique Quote: "In the warmth of family, even a Demon King finds a place at the table."
