The library offer made Selene's confidence build. She really needed to make that happen.
They rode out to the same field on Rocco. Throughout that ride, Selene made sure that the memory of the water sloshing wildly was replaced by a clear, perfect image in her mind: the water, still as glass.
Today would be different. She promised herself.
When they arrived, Zeeb and Ralph were waiting for them already. Zeeb had a small encouraging smile on his lips for her. She nodded at him before giving Ralph a nod too.
She didn't wait for Zephyr's command. She walked straight to the bowl, her back straight, her eyes fixed on the water. She had forgotten all about the tiredness from yesterday. Now all she was thinking about was the library and the answers she was desperate to understand.
Zephyr watched her. A flicker of surprise showed in his eyes before his expression smoothed into its usual mask.
"She looks confident," Ralph observed. He turned to Zephyr. "You used the trick."
