"First, we need to fully explore the ruins and see if there was anything else we can get. Perhaps the Ogre kept some things here." Armaros said to her as she nodded.
"As you wish, master." Fanah said as she nodded to him.
The two went deeper into the ruins with a torch in his hand, as they knew that it was better to explore the entire place and see if there were anything that they can take for themselves. There were murals on the sides of the ruins as they went deeper.
"I have been meaning to ask. You were part of the knights, do you know to which God these symbols were dedicated to?" Armaros asked as he walked with his sword in hand.
Just because they had defeated and killed the Ogre doesn't mean that he was about to let his guard down, something which Fanah agreed with as she had her own sword in her hand as well.
"No. The symbols here are none that I recognise. Perhaps it pretained to some faith without a God. It could be some barbaric tribes?" Fanah guessed as she shook her head.
"As if, while that is a good guess, I don't think a group of people would be able to create such a place or worship without any gods noticing it. Then again, I guess it would depend upon the age when it was built. I don't know what these murals are alluding to as well." Armaros said as he looked at the murals which were showing a male in armor and various scenes with it.
"I don't think this belongs to any of the Gods that are worshipped in the empire." Fanah said as she observed the murals.
"Well, the God is in human form, without any of the characteristics of the other races. As such, I think this is a God who was worshipped by humans mostly, and there are murals of this God supporting humans as well." Armaros said as he pointed at the mural which showed the God supporting humans against the Zoan and other races.
"But then why would this be unknown. I had served as a knight for a good while and have also learned about the Gods, yet I have never a recording for this." Fanah said as they walked through the hallway.
They kept on walking until they reached a set of large heavy looking iron double doors as they looked at each other before he went forward and pushed the two doors, having to use mana to push open the heavy doors and then with a burst of strength threw them open as the doors groaned as they opened for them to enter.
"We should find more torches." Armaros said as he looked at the large dark room as he turned to Fanah as she walked inside.
But then they felt a thrum of mana as suddenly the entire room seemed like it had come alive as their eyes widened. Mana course through the ground and over the walls, as light particles of mana appeared, acting as a substitute for natural light as it made the entire place visible.
The two humans were now able to see the inside of the room with great clarity, and the thing that immediately drew their attention was the giant statue in the farthest end of the room from them, it was of the same size as the ogre and no less imposing.
The statue was of a male, decked in armor on its chest, shoulders, forearms, legs, a long cape, a stylish helmet which covered most of its head with a V shaped slit. In its right hand is a magnificent spear of stone, with a large blade and its foot embedded on the ground, and the symbol that they had seen on the chest which was very pronounced .
And that wasn't the only thing in the room, more murals were one time walls and various trinkets and things were around the statue, even a lot of gold and things made of gold. From cups, to jewelry, they were gathered in heaps and laid around the statue as the two were shocked at the sight.
"Holy shit." Armaros said in shock as he saw it.
Now, usually someone like Armaros wouldn't be surprised by such a sight, owing to his lineage, but he seldom had the opportunity to see so many valuable items and money together, as he had no need to see the treasury, nor was he allowed to do so, as he had to focus on his skills.
So seeing such a large amount of money, he couldn't help but gape at the sight. This would probably be nothing when compared to the money that the Dawnbringers have, but for him this was a lot, and for many this would be a fortune that would allow them to live the rest of their lives comfortably and perhaps set up a business for future generations.
Whatever the case may be, he was still shocked at the sight of so many gold, and Fanah was much the same, as she hadn't expected to find such a thing in ruins, though in hindsight she should've expected an old temple of a God to have such things, many adventurers would sometimes get their fortunes from such ruins after all.
'I thought the ogre would've taken everything from here.' Fanah thought to herself as she looked at the gold.
The two were silent as they looked at the gold, and then they felt another thrum of mana around them as they held their heads as they were surprised as their eyes widened, with Armaros's eyes glowing as the eyes of the statue shone from the slits.
Suddenly, the boy found himself in a black space which shocked him as he was floating or hovering there. And then he felt a massive presence which seemed to bear down on his very soul as he looked ahead of him, and his eyes widened as he saw the very image of the statue in the room in front of him.
The man was much more imposing than the statue, with an aura of power around him, and the feeling he got from them was much much higher and greater than what he had felt from his mother, and the spear had an aura of danger to it, with the very being itself having a heavier aura to them.
He understood instinctively, that he was in front of the very God of the temple he had been in a moment, and he couldn't help but feel awe and fear at being in front of such a being, as he could feel the eyes of the God.
"Don't trust the Divine." The God said which caused Armaros to blink.
"What?" Armaros said before he could control his mouth due to the situation.
"Don't trust the Demonic. Don't trust the Draconic. Don't trust the Fae." The God said to him in his commanding voice.
"Who are you?" Armaros asked as he wanted to know the name of the God.
But he didn't get an answer as he was out of the space and found himself back at the ruin and the room where he was as his blinked as he was knocked to the ground by a wave of mana which also did the same for Fanah as they groaned before getting up.
Their eyes fell on the statue as it's eyes glowed as they got ready with their weapons in case of an attack.
'Just great.' Armaros thought to himself as he gulped down some saliva and glared at the statue and once again cursed his situation.
