Mom came over as we were being shifted to Winter. I pointed her and Batou out to Cain. Asking him to tell every werewolf he knows to leave them alone. He promised to do so as he walked off to find the rest of his pack. I asked mom if she was here to take me to the danger like Alice's mom. Mom made it clear she wants me as far away as possible. She is here to make sure I am on the transport out of here. I told her about being transferred to Winter academy. She grinned as Batou came over to tell her about a riot. They both left to handle it. I packed my stuff and helped the others pack theirs too. We walked out with our backpacks and suitcases. The security placed the cases in the truck of our respective vehicles. In my car was Cain, his second in command, Sonja and Irene. The others got into nearby vehicles. Ours was in the front. I put my head on my knees and sensed my way around. I warned them about a construction company working on repairing the road. The second in command took his walkie talkie and asked the one behind to send a drone for confirmation. Both were surprised by my abilities. Cain asked me what the safest route was. I explained how I have never seen Winter and that I am not familiar with the streets since I spent my life as a sick person. I can tell him if there is an obstruction or a trap. He believed it was fair enough and took the city route.
The headmistress wanted to know why they changed directions. He explained the obstructions that could destroy the vehicles thus leaving everyone of us vulnerable. She applauded his brilliance. We got to see the police in full gear along with the army. They had enforced a curfew. The only ones allowed were those who were out buying essentials and going to hospital. Everyone else was asked to go home. Except us. We were allowed to go forward. As the window slid down I muttered, "Obviously you are going to let us through. How else can you abscond our school. You vile ill bred miscreant." Sonja started, "This whole thing is a conspiracy to divert all of us to places to thin out the population." Irene reminded us to be quiet or they might haul us out and shoot us. I promised to hypnotize them before they even tried. I sensed the convoy up ahead and snarled, "I see someone is coming to claim their grandma's house." Irene tried to be rational until she saw the convoy. Her jaw dropped to the floor. Sonja started laughing. There had to be at least twenty tanks, eighteen all terrain vehicles and what appears to be a few dozen modified hummers made zombie-proof. It took twenty minutes to reach the end of the convoy. I pointed at the last one passing by and asked, "What was that Irene? Like I said these people have made it clear that our honorable school was promised to them by their grandmas in their will." Irene shook her head, "My dear that land was promised to them not by their grandma but their honorable ancestors thousands of years ago." Cain and his friend started laughing. They seem to enjoy our commentary. We met with one checkpoint and we were allowed to pass through. Shaw was there and so was mom. I rolled down the window and asked her where Batou was. He must have heard me because he came over and wished me a safe trip. I decided to take the high road and told Shaw to be careful and take care of mom. Mom was happy to see us getting along so after the sniffer dogs were done. They simply scanned the car before giving us permission to pass.
I took a deep breath and some linked with the werewolves transporting us to Winter. I greeted everyone awkwardly and they were polite. I blushed red as I apologized for the intrusion. Cain turned around and smiled, "I scanned ahead and everyone saw the zombies have congregated in certain sectors. After I used Google maps as a consultant I plotted a new course to Winter. The others didn't argue as they got to feel the extent of my gifts. Cain chuckled, "Best of both worlds." I politely asked to bow out of the link. Since it felt like an invasion of privacy. Cain showed me how and the others who were curious about my gifts asked me not to. I severed the connection between me and the wolves. I kept my eyes closed and the girls asked me if I was ok. I told them that we will run out of fuel before we get there so we will be making a stop. When we get we will have to stay close otherwise we could get lost. Both promised to use the bathroom and come back quickly. I was thinking of going to the convenience store to get some snacks. A bag of chips, some soda and maybe a few sandwiches. Irene asked if I could get a few water bottles too. I asked Irene if I should get her some allergy meds too. She assured me that she had enough. We reached the town and everyone was told to go out in an orderly fashion and use the restroom. We were allowed one car at a time so we won't leave anyone behind. We went first. Irene and Sonja used the toilet while Cain filled the tank with gas. I walked in and got us a few candy bars, a few bags of chips, soda, water bottles. The sandwich didn't look fresh so I skipped it. I did get a zippo lighter and a box of ziplock bags. I paid the man and walked back to my car. The others walked out and stretched their legs before they went back in. A few used the bathroom and mentioned it was poorly cleaned. We drove by a diner and everyone ate something. Then we got back in the car and it drove off to Winter.
According to the map we were about halfway there. The military asked to join us and Irene blared, "I see you read your grandma's will and found a new property with your name on it." I was chewing on a sandwich and Irene growled, "I am sure we will be kicked out of Winter very soon." I told the girls that I will get us the apocalypse gear. The we will try to find a place where we don't have to move from place to place. Irene asked if such places actually exist. I told her that I sensed some sort of deception in the mix. I took a deep breath and waited for the convoy to come closer. One was an armoured truck and it looked like a containment unit. So I used x-ray vision to see what was inside. I let out a shriek. Cain kept the car steady as he asked me what happened. I told him the truck was transporting zombies. Irene and Sonja started swearing in Ukrainian. Cain asked me to prove I have x-ray vision so I listed everything he had in his possession top to bottom. He was surprised so I took it a bit further and mentioned the contents in the trunk. The girls explained how I had practiced during the last holiday. Both were highly impressed. I on the other hand was disgusted. Irene asked me to eavesdrop on them to figure out what they were up to. I relayed that they were moving these chompers to a facility for further experimentation. Irene started swearing and Sonja reminded her that swearing is her thing so find a different hobby. I justified Irene's actions and Sonja gave it a thought. She pulled out her phone to search for places which are likely to be the origin of the zombie horde.
Twenty minutes on Google her battery died out. She sweared repeatedly. I gave her my portable charger and told exactly where they were going. They were going to an abandoned hospital where the basement is a labyrinth and the place has some strong shutters. They have cleared the basement and have placed doors made from re-enforced steel. The facility is guarded twenty four hours a day seven days a week. Sonja wanted details. I took a deep breath, "The roof has snipers positioned in all four directions. If you don't have clearance they will shoot you. It won't matter if you are a zombie or human. They will go their separate way after an hour. They will face eight check points. There are nine roads leading there are closed so one way in means one way out. There are people sitting on branches keeping an eye out for intruders. Some have dug a hole and made a small trapdoor. A few men are hiding underground with rifles. There is an electrified fence. They built a ramp so transporting them inside would be easier. The lobby is now completely bare walls. They are going to use the service elevator to transport these chompers down to the basement. The lab is in the east wing. The soldiers are in the west wing. The rest are kept in its dirty filthy state so no one would guess that there is a secret facility. Don't worry we will see the building as we go up there. It is the fastest path to Winter."
An hour later the soldiers took a different direction. We got to see a glimpse of the hospital. I gave Sonja the binoculars and Irene grabbed it. She looked at it before Sonja saw the place. There was a buzzing sound indicating Sonja's phone was now fully charged so she started searching for any and all information on the place. We finally reached Winter and Cain slowed down to let Headmistress go in front. They both talked as we were escorted to the dormitories. Sonja is a computer genius. She had already made sure we were all together in one room last night. I waved at Cain before I walked to get my stuff upstairs. He gave me a smile and went to handle security. He seemed to know the head of security. I dragged my bag while the others hauled theirs. There were elevators so it made everything easier. We got upstairs and made ourselves at home. We came downstairs and were welcomed formally. The soldiers were allowed to examine us once and were warned that if we aren't werewolves or vampires then we won't be in a month's time. The transformation is instant. There is no incubation period like the zombie virus. So the soldiers examined us and walked away. I walked to the library with the others, "They have seen the fortification of this place. Now they are going to see if they can steal this place too." "Really? Do you think so?" I turned around to see the headmistress and I said fearlessly, "The eastern wall didn't crumble it was blasted. I know the difference because my mother is police officer and I have a neighbor who is in the demolition business. With the security of the school compromised you will have no choice but to vacate. They have seen this school now watch as they come asking for it too" An hour later the entire school was buzzing about the general who came asking for Winter as a base. The headmaster said no to his suggestion since they already repurposed Ravencroft Academy as an army base. He said that he will tighten security to check for any defects in the wall. So if any damage occurs they will blame it on the army. The general had to leave empty handed. I predicted they will unleash the zombies into our school so I google searched for the nearest store which specializes in doom preparation.
