The robot didn't move right away, frozen in silence. Only a faint mechanical hum escaped him, as if some internal system had activated. At last, Mechamaru answered, his deep voice resonating in the crisp morning air: "Kusami asked me to wait here, that's all."

Ryosuke tilted his head slightly, puzzled. "Ah, I see." He shook his head with a smile. "By the way, we didn't properly introduce ourselves yesterday. My name's Tsukumo Ryosuke."

Mechamaru remained still for a moment before finally speaking in his mechanical voice:

"Mechamaru. That's… my name."

Ryosuke climbed the few steps that separated him from the robot and stopped in front of him, arms crossed. After silently observing him, he tilted his head.

"Tell me, Mechamaru… you really are a robot, aren't you? And yet, you're here… as a student? That's a little surprising, don't you think?"

A faint, almost imperceptible flicker passed through the robot's red eyes. He slowly turned his head toward Ryosuke.

"Stop pretending to be surprised. Even yesterday, you already knew what I am."

Ryosuke shrugged, feigning innocence, then let out a short laugh.

"Alright, alright… you're right, I did notice. It must be… how should I put it…" He paused, searching for his words. "It must be kind of a pain, right?"

At those words, Mechamaru turned his gaze away, deliberately ignoring him.

Ryosuke stepped closer, leaning forward until he was just a few centimeters from the robot's metallic face.

"Tell me, Mechamaru… don't you want to be free of it?"

Mechamaru remained expressionless, only a faint electric twitch betraying his unease. After a heavy silence, he asked in a low voice:

"What do you mean?"

That was when a lively voice rang out behind them, shattering the intensity of the moment.

"Well, well! Looks like you two are already getting to know each other!"

Ryosuke turned and saw the girl from the day before.

At her side was another girl, this one with short, raven-black hair. She wore a similar training uniform.

The short-haired girl, her smile bright, gave him a little wave.

"So, are you settling in?" she asked cheerfully. "I'm Kasumi Miwa, nice to meet you!" She winked playfully before gesturing toward her classmate, who hung back a little. "She wasn't here yesterday to meet you. But she's in our class too."

Ryosuke returned her smile and extended his hand to the other girl. She stared at it for a moment, her gaze wary, before slowly taking it in a firm but brief shake. "Mai Zenin," she said evenly, her tone almost flat.

Ryosuke held her gaze a little longer, taking a moment to study her stern features. Finally, he nodded with a faint smile. The prolonged attention made Mai frown and turn her eyes away, her expression slightly irritated.

Kasumi, amused, stepped a bit closer with her hands on her hips, looking mischievous. "So, what were you two boys talking about?" she asked, grinning as she looked between them.

Ryosuke shrugged casually. "I was just asking Mechamaru if he needed my help."

Intrigued, Kasumi arched a brow, leaning forward slightly as if hoping to hear more. But Mechamaru merely folded his arms and replied in a calm, steady voice: "That's between guys."

Kasumi burst into laughter, her crystalline laugh ringing in the cool morning air, breaking the tension.

Ryosuke, after a moment, turned toward Mai, still standing back, and gave her a warm smile. "And you, Mai?" he said, his tone as natural as ever. "If you ever need something, know that I'm here to help too."

She looked at him, surprised, her brows furrowing slightly. "Help with what, exactly?"

Ryosuke let a small silence linger before answering with a cryptic smile. "When you know, I'll know too."

Mai, unsettled, rolled her eyes, exasperated.

Kasumi crossed her arms, pretending to sulk. "Hey, what's this about leaving me out?" She put on a theatrically offended look, though the spark in her eyes betrayed her amusement. Suddenly, an idea seemed to hit her, and she flashed a playful grin. "Well then, how about we test out our new classmate, Ryosuke? You know, see what he can do. It'd be a good way to get to know each other—and to see what everyone's made of, don't you think?"

Ryosuke shrugged. "Why not."

Kasumi, her eyes sparkling with excitement, grabbed his arm and pulled him toward the center of the training grounds, a wide sandy space surrounded by stone bleachers. She planted her feet firmly, facing him. "Alright then, Ryosuke… I'll go first!"

Mai, arms crossed and feigning indifference, watched from the sidelines, occasionally casting him sidelong glances, while Mechamaru stood tall and silent, his red gaze locked on Ryosuke.

Kasumi drew her sword in one smooth motion and, without waiting, charged straight at Ryosuke.

But when she struck with force, the blade bounced sharply off his body, as if it had hit an invisible steel wall.

She stepped back, her mouth slightly open, stunned. It felt like she had struck something harder than stone. From the bleachers, Mai, seated beside Mechamaru, watched with wide eyes.

"How can he cloak himself in that much Cursed Energy?"

Mechamaru, meanwhile, remained impassive, arms crossed.

Ryosuke looked at Kasumi with a playful smile. "What's wrong? Trouble with your blade?"

Kasumi frowned, quickly resuming her stance. This time she poured more of her energy into the sword, a glow surrounding the steel. With a cry of determination, she struck with all her might.

Again, the blade rebounded off Ryosuke, producing a heavy thud. It was like trying to split a boulder!

Kasumi gasped, clearly winded, and stepped back, raising her hands in surrender.

She smiled despite herself, admiration in her eyes. "Wow, Ryosuke, you're really… tough! I've never seen anything like that."

Ryosuke smirked. "You think so?"

Mai, visibly irritated by his nonchalance, suddenly stood from the bleachers. She shot Kasumi a sharp look, then spoke with cold determination:

"Kasumi, let's go at him together."
