May stepped forward, eyeing the tools and weapon parts scattered around.
"We don't need anything crazy," she said calmly. "Just something efficient."
Nico gave her a once-over and whistled.
"You look like a sword type. Something fast. Lightweight. Cuts demons clean."
May didn't deny it.
"A blade would be nice."
Ward pointed at himself.
"I'd like a gun. Something that can blow a hole in a demon before it gets close."
Nico chuckled.
"Shotgun for the tough guy. Sounds about right."
Fitz and Simmons exchanged a look — both nervous, both excited.
"We mostly support," Simmons admitted. "But… some protection would be helpful."
Nico nodded.
"I can make you pistols. Easy to handle. Not too heavy."
Skye raised her hand slightly.
"And me? Something long-range. I'm not rushing into a demon's mouth."
"Sniper or enhanced rifle," Nico decided. "Good call, sweetheart."
Coulson stepped forward last.
"I'll take something discreet. Something I can keep under a coat."
Nico tapped her chin.
"A collapsible weapon. Maybe baton form — converts into a short blade when you need it."
She looked at Alex last — eyes curious.
"And you? What are you packing, Devil Hunter?"
Alex smiled and raised his hand.
A ripple of energy.
A massive chunk of blood-colored steel fell in front of them — slamming into the ground with a deep thud.
"Whoa— WOAH!" Nico stumbled back, eyes wide.
"This is… Bloodsteel. One of the best damn materials to make weapons with! Where the hell did you even get this?!"
Alex shrugged casually.
"I like a greatsword. Something light, with Darkness affinity."
Nico's eyes sparkled like she'd just seen a treasure chest open.
"Sure! I can make that! Just give me this and I'm all yours," she said with a wink.
Alex chuckled.
"Nice offer, but I already have girls."
Nico sighed dramatically.
"Can I at least keep this Bloodsteel?"
Alex smirked.
"That's why I brought it."
Nico fist-pumped with excitement.
"Oh hell yes! You're my favorite customer already!"
"Okay then, I'm— argh." Nico groaned, looking at the gigantic slab.
"Can you move this thing aside or break it into smaller batches?"
Alex nodded and, with a single clean slash, cut the Bloodsteel into several neatly stacked slabs.
"These will do perfectly," Nico whistled, impressed.
"Alright, I'll get to work."
She pushed the pieces toward the van and slid the door shut behind her.
Ward crossed his arms.
"So, what do we do now?"
"Well," Alex said with a casual grin, "how about fighting some demons? Besides, there's a human woman named Lady around here. She uses an arsenal of weapons and fights all kinds of weird demons."
May raised an eyebrow but nodded.
"Cool. I'd like to meet her."
"Let's roam around," Alex said.
Fitz hesitated.
"Aren't you going to help out your… ancestor?"
Alex sighed lightly.
"This is just a fake world. Even if I help, the outcome won't change. Nothing here truly matters."
He gestured toward the demon-filled streets ahead.
"But the gear we get out of here will help us where it does matter."
Ward smirked as he loaded his gun.
"Now that I can get behind."
The team began walking down the cracked street. Demonic vines crawled along buildings, and distant growls echoed from the shadows.
"Stay close," Alex warned. "Demons here attack fast."
They hadn't gone far before Skye pointed at a rooftop.
"Uh… are those more of those flying things?"
A group of red, bat-like demons screeched from above and dove toward them.
Ward aimed his gun.
"Here we go!"
The first demon reached him — and Alex sliced it clean in half before it got close.
Ward stared.
"…You could've let me shoot at least one."
"You'll get your chance," Alex replied.
More demons rushed in. May grabbed a broken pipe from the ground and moved silently, striking with quick, clean hits — efficient and accurate. She seemed completely calm.
Coulson flipped open a small knife and guarded Simmons, who stayed near Fitz as he fired small bursts from his improvised gadget gun.
Skye stayed at the back, picking off flying demons with careful shots.
Ward finally got one — the demon exploded into dust.
"YES!" he cheered. "See? Perfect aim."
May rolled her eyes but smirked a little.
As the last demon fell, someone fired a loud rocket — BOOM! A huge explosion took out the remaining pack.
Simmons jumped in surprise.
"What was that?!"
Heavy boots clacked on the concrete. A motorcycle stopped nearby, and a woman stepped off — black hair, short shorts, a rocket launcher casually resting on her shoulder.
She blew smoke off the barrel.
"You all look like you're having fun," she said with a confident grin.
"Name's Lady."
Ward's eyes widened.
"Oh. Lady. I see why they call you that."
May slapped the back of his head.
"Stop being stupid."
Lady looked at Alex, studying him.
"You're not from around here."
"No," Alex admitted. "We're visiting. And we're hunting."
Lady smirked and reloaded her launcher.
"Well then — welcome to Red Grave City. Keep up and maybe you'll survive."
She revved her bike.
"Come on. There's a nest of demons up ahead. Let's see if you can handle something bigger."
Alex nodded, tightening his grip on his weapon.
"Let's go," he said.
And the team followed Lady deeper into the city — toward stronger demons and a much bigger fight.
They turned a corner and walked into a wide plaza. The ground was cracked, and strange purple goo bubbled from the pavement. The sky above swirled like a storm.
Lady pointed at a building ahead.
"There. A demon nest is inside. Big one. You ready?"
Ward swallowed.
"As ready as I'll ever be."
Before they could move, the ground shook.
A giant spider-like demon crawled out of a hole — six legs, a long tail, and a mouth full of sharp teeth dripping with poison.
"Great," Skye muttered. "I hate spiders."
The monster screeched and charged.
Alex jumped up first, slashing down at its head — the blade cut through, but the demon shook him off. Its tail swung and smashed into Fitz and Simmons, sending them rolling back.
Coulson rushed to help them.
Ward fired his shotgun.
"Take that!"
The shot barely staggered the demon. It turned, rushing at him.
Lady shot a rocket — BOOM — blowing off one of its legs.
"That's one," she said calmly.
