Vergil watched his mother die again.
Sepphirothy lay before him, her body covered in blood. The demon raised one hand, and a magical formation appeared above her chest. Vergil tried to reach her, but before he could take a single step, his mother's heart was destroyed.
Then everything started over.
The same scene repeated hundreds of times. Then thousands. Sometimes Vergil tried to scream. Other times, he searched for Yamato or attempted to release his Authority of Death. However, nothing changed. He could only watch Sepphirothy die, unable to do anything to prevent it.
Until the image finally disappeared.
Vergil was alone.
There was no ground, sky, or any surface around him. Everything was completely dark, and he couldn't even distinguish his own body.
"What happened...?" Vergil murmured, trying to organize his thoughts.
