Chapter 342 Disinterested Facade
Aleshia noticed the expectation in everyone's eyes, particularly on Em's face. Although Em tried to appear disinterested, it was evident that her facade was breaking as time passed. As the silence stretched on, Aleshia decided to speak up.
"I originally went to this city to learn some things, but I ended up here instead. I've enjoyed my time with all of you; there is no doubt in my mind about that. And for the reason I'm considering leaving now, it seems that the people who were sick in those beds who had taken care of this place are starting to recover, and Daniel won't be needing my help, so I was thinking it might be the right time for me to return to my original plans."
Aleshia didn't want anyone to become too upset about the reality of her departure. As she watched their faces, it seemed that she was somewhat succeeding, but she could tell that it would be difficult for them to accept that she was leaving. Her darkening thoughts were interrupted as Tristan responded.
"We are glad you enjoyed your time here," Tristan said, with others joining in.
"Thank you for staying with us," Em added.
"We appreciate everything you have done for the kids and us," Miya expressed.
"It has been fun having you around, Aleshia," Tray remarked.
At those words, Aleshia felt a smile inside but couldn't show it. Instead, she expressed her feelings through her voice. "Thank you all for your kind words and appreciation. It has been enjoyable being together as a group and living in this camp. I hope we can continue to be friends even after I leave."
They all replied, "Agreed." After that, the conversation turned to sharing stories about what they had done while Aleshia was away with the other group. They explained the quests they had completed. "And then we struck him pow, pow, wow!" Tray exclaimed, recounting one of their most recent quests.
Despite his struggle to articulate the story, Aleshia clapped with enthusiasm, happy to see how much he and the others enjoyed sharing their experiences. "That all sounds wonderful! I wish I could have been a part of it. I know if I had joined you, I would have had so much fun," she said in excitement.
That's when Em suggested, "Since you're so eager to join us, how about you tag along for one last adventure with us? It would be a great way to wrap up your experience here."
