A colossal shadow descended once more.
Two meteors, stacked one atop the other, accelerated as they hurtled downward.
The turbulent winds stirred by the falling meteors tore through the distant clouds, shredding them to fragments.
Nagato tilted his head back, gazing at the meteors as his body underwent another transformation.
His hair abruptly turned white, growing rapidly and fluttering wildly in the roaring wind.
The scaly keratin covering his body peeled away, replaced by a long white robe adorned with black patterns. A black Truth-Seeking Ball morphed into a long staff, which he gripped firmly in his hand.
Unfazed by the massive meteors plummeting toward him, he remained standing directly beneath them and raised his staff high.
"Super Planetary Devastation!!!"
Black orbs shot upward at blinding speed, encircling the meteors in an instant.
Crack!
An infinite gravitational force erupted. The two meteors, which had been falling at breakneck speed, gradually slowed before shattering under the pull of the nine black orbs surrounding them.
"Hahahahaha…"
Madara flashed backward, evading the gravitational pull before it could seize him. From a distance, he watched the spectacular scene unfold.
"Not bad at all!" His voice cut clearly through the deafening roar. "Let's see just how far you can take this!"
Crack!
Crack!!
The gravitational force exploded once more, and the two meteors instantly fractured into countless fragments.
The shattered debris began hurtling toward the black orbs of the Planetary Devastation, layering upon them in thick strata.
Further away, the shinobi had grown numb to the apocalyptic spectacle before them. They could only stare, slack-jawed, utterly speechless.
"This is the same technique Nagato used back in Konoha!" Naruto clenched his fists. "It seems to have a sealing effect."
"That is the ultimate sealing technique of the Rinnegan—Planetary Devastation," explained Kaito. "Those caught within it are imprisoned inside a celestial body before being launched into space, where they become part of a planet."
As he spoke, the meteor fragments, now compressed and layered around the gravitational orbs, formed nine colossal floating spheres suspended in midair.
Nagato planted his black staff firmly on the ground. The nine celestial bodies abruptly scattered, spinning through the air before positioning themselves directly above the shinobi alliance—then began their descent.
"Damn it! Hold them off!!"
"How…?"
"This… There's no way we can stop this!!"
"We're going to die…"
Some of the weaker-willed shinobi faltered, their faces pale with terror as they stared at the sky.
"Don't give up!!"
A rallying cry rang out, urging resistance.
"Wood Style: Advent of a World of Flowering Trees!"
Hashirama clasped his hands together. Countless towering trees erupted from the earth, surging upward to intercept the falling celestial bodies.
"Shield of Shifting Sands!"
Gaara raised his arms, summoning a tidal wave of sand that surged skyward, forming a massive shield around Hashirama's wooden barrier.
"Nice one, Gaara!!"
Naruto roared as his golden Nine-Tails Chakra Cloak expanded violently, morphing into a gigantic golden fox.
The colossal Nine-Tails opened its maw, energy rapidly condensing within.
"Tailed Beast Bomb!!"
A highly compressed sphere of chakra blasted forth, obliterating two of the celestial bodies in a single strike.
"Hell yeah, Naruto!!"
The younger Konoha shinobi erupted into cheers.
"Hmph."
Not one to let Naruto steal the spotlight, Sasuke activated his Susanoo, drawing back its bowstring.
"Blaze Release: Susanoo Kagutsuchi!"
A massive arrow of black flames shot forth, piercing through and shattering two more of the celestial bodies.
"Tch!"
Feeling Sasuke's provocative gaze, Naruto began gathering another Tailed Beast Bomb.
The shattered remnants of the celestial bodies continued to rain down. The shinobi on the ground scrambled to defend themselves, using whatever techniques they could to fend off the now-smaller debris.
The Five Kage fought with particular vigor, doing everything in their power to protect their subordinates.
Yet with so many on the battlefield, it was inevitable that some of the weaker shinobi and samurai would be struck by falling debris, their agonized cries piercing the chaos.
Nagato soared upward, addressing Madara from afar.
"Well? Aren't you going to help them?"
"Keh."
Madara hovered midair, arms crossed. His only response was a derisive snort.
"Right. You're Uchiha Madara." Nagato leveled his staff at him. "A man as cold as you wouldn't feel even a shred of guilt."
At that moment, two figures wreathed in green chakra shot into the sky.
"Lee!"
"Yes, Might Guy-sensei!!"
"Daytime Tiger!!!"
The duo unleashed twin shockwaves that roared like a tiger's fury, smashing through two more celestial bodies.
"Hmph." Madara spared them a glance before turning back to Nagato. "Brat, what exactly are you trying to say?"
"Nothing."
Nagato seemed to abruptly lose interest in the conversation, his gaze lifting toward the full moon hanging in the sky.
Has the time come?
Madara, too, looked up, his expression shifting to one of intrigue.
Meanwhile, Kaito, who had been standing among the crowd, also sensed something and turned his eyes toward the moon.
"What is it?"
Izuna, who had just sheathed his sword after deflecting debris, followed his gaze.
"Miss Chiri has completed her task." A faint smirk curled Kaito's lips.
"I see." Izuna's eyes flicked toward Nagato. "That guy must have sensed it too."
Kaito nodded. "Indeed. The time has come."
"Heh. So it's finally here?" Izuna tucked his hands into his sleeves, a flicker of excitement crossing his face.
"Don't get too worked up, Izuna-sama." Hikaku chuckled. "This battle likely won't require your intervention."
"Hmph!"
Izuna shot him a sidelong glance but said nothing more.
Orochimaru, who had been observing them covertly, grinned silently.
So it begins.
Unable to resist, he ran his tongue over his lips, his gaze burning with anticipation as he stared at Nagato in the distance.
Don't disappoint me now.
"I can feel it." The wind carried Nagato's murmur. "Sophon was right after all."
You're welcome.
Kaito's silent reply went unheard.
The so-called "Sophon" was yet another gift he had bestowed upon Nagato.
Now, go ahead and offer yourself as sacrifice, Nagato!
At that moment, Nagato remained fixated on the moon. A bulge formed on his forehead before splitting open, revealing a vertical eye.
A crimson glow emanated from the fissure as the eye slowly opened. Simultaneously, the full moon above began to stain with the same bloody hue.
Nagato released his black staff, letting it hover beside him as his hands flew through a rapid series of hand seals.
"The moon!!"
"What's happening?!"
"Don't tell me… this is that genjutsu projected through the moon he mentioned—Infinite Tsukuyomi…"
In that instant, many on the battlefield noticed the moon's transformation, their voices rising in despair.
"Damn it! Does this mean he's about to succeed?!"
"Someone—anyone! Stop him!!!"
"Madara!!" Hashirama suddenly burst from the crowd, charging toward Nagato's position. "What are you doing?! Why aren't you stopping him?!!"
"I told you already." Madara's cold eyes bore into him. "I will slay a god."
"…Damn you!"
Tobirama, who had been following Hashirama, found Madara's reasoning utterly incomprehensible. He hurled a kunai marked with the Flying Thunder God seal.
Clang!
Izuna materialized in front of him, effortlessly deflecting the kunai with his sword.
