Chapter 121 - Chapter 114

3RD PERSON'S POV

The room felt heavy, as if the weight of Alice's latest vision had sucked all the air out. Everyone was frozen, their eyes glued to the petite vampire as she sat stiffly, her faraway gaze locked on something only she could see. Jasper stayed beside her, his hand lightly resting on her shoulder, his expression a mix of patience and silent concern.

Robin sat beside Rosalie on the sofa, her fingers absently tracing patterns on Rosalie's hand. Her own thoughts were a jumbled mess of fear and regret. She couldn't help but wonder if one of her internal decisions had caused the shift in Alice's visions. Her earlier determination to impregnate Rosalie now felt like a looming shadow, threatening to bring chaos and death. The thought terrified her.

What if the war Alice foresaw could be avoided if she just… didn't? No pregnancies, no threats, no chaos. It seemed like a simple solution, but it came with its own heartbreaking cost. Her family, Rosalie especially, had placed so much hope in her. Rosalie had dreamed of carrying a child for so long, and Robin couldn't bear the thought of disappointing her.

Robin's guilt doubled as she glanced at Rosalie. While she was wrapped up in her own fear, Rosalie was sitting there, devastated. The visions hadn't just threatened her dream—they had painted a picture of her death and the loss of a child she hadn't even had yet. Robin realized she'd been selfish, consumed by her own dread.

She turned to Rosalie, shifting closer so their knees touched. Her hands moved quickly, signing with soft but urgent motions. "I'm sorry. I should have been comforting you, not wallowing in my own fear."

Rosalie gave her a soft, tired smile. "Robin, you're allowed to feel scared too."

Still, Robin signed, her expression resolute, "you deserve better than me moping around. So, here's the deal: I'll stop if you stop. Deal?"

Rosalie raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "That's not how feelings work, you know."

Robin smirked, her hands moving again. "Oh, come on. Since when do I follow rules? Besides, I'm pretty sure annoying you until you laugh is my job description."

Rosalie rolled her eyes, but there was a hint of amusement in her expression. "If you keep it up, I might just toss you out the window."

"Worth it if it makes you smile," Robin replied, grinning.

Despite herself, Rosalie let out a small laugh, playfully glaring at Robin. "You're impossible."

*I think you mean irresistible,* Robin signed with a wink.

Across the room, Edward was trying to give the couple their space, though his curiosity about Alice's vision kept drawing his gaze back to her. A flicker of envy passed through him as he watched Robin and Rosalie's easy affection. He couldn't help but wonder when his turn would come. The image of the girl from Alice's earlier vision came to mind—pale skin, chocolate brown eyes, a heart-shaped face framed by dark waves.

Edward shook his head. His soulmate was out there somewhere, but the wait was excruciating. His thoughts were interrupted when he caught a glimpse of Alice's vision with his gift. His face twisted into an exasperated grimace, the kind of expression one might wear after witnessing something utterly ridiculous. He refused to say what he'd seen, but his muttered, "Unbelievable," didn't go unnoticed.

*Care to share with the class?* Robin signed, shooting him a teasing look.

Edward shook his head, crossing his arms. "You wouldn't believe me even if I did."

*Try me,* Robin replied, a grin tugging at the corners of her mouth.

Before Edward could answer, Alice blinked rapidly and shook her head, breaking free from her vision. Her dazed expression slowly gave way to one of awkward hesitation. She glanced around the room, noting the tension etched into everyone's faces.

"What did you see?" Jasper asked gently, his hand still on her shoulder.

Alice hesitated, her lips twitching as if fighting back a smile. "Uh… well…"

Robin narrowed her eyes, her hands moving with lightning speed. *Spill it, Alice. If it's bad, just say it already.*

Alice winced, her gaze darting between them. "It's… not bad."

Rosalie frowned. "Then why do you look so awkward?"

"Well," Alice began, wringing her hands, "it's just that… I saw Esme and Carlisle coming over."

The room went silent for a beat before Robin signed, *That's it?*

"And," Alice continued, "Esme was making Robin's favorite cookies and baked macaroni."

The silence stretched for another beat before Edward let out a loud groan. "Are you serious? All that tension for cookies and baked macaroni?"

Alice shrugged, her lips curving into a wry smile. "Hey, I don't control what I see."

Robin signed dramatically, *You mean to tell me I've been sitting here, one existential crisis away from combusting, and you were seeing a future potluck? For yours truly, because I'm the favorite child and baby of the family, and the only one who can eat?*

A scoff was heard from Edwards' direction, and Robin signed with a teasing smile, *Am I wrong, dear big brother?* And she gave him that innocent and sweet smile that she always did to get away for almost anything in their family.

Edward chuckled, shaking his head. "Well, at least it's better than the last vision."

Rosalie let out a small sigh of relief, leaning back against the sofa. "Honestly, I'll take it. After everything else she's seen, this feels… almost normal."

Jasper smirked, finally relaxing his stance. "I think we could all use some baked macaroni after today. The smell, at least. We can just enjoy watching Robin eat again."

Robin cringed at what Jasper said; no matter how many times they've already done it, it still felt weird to be watched by multiple people while you eat, in real life.

"Yeah, do that mukbang thing," Edward added, using a term Robin used when they first did it.

The group broke into a mix of relieved laughter and lighthearted teasing, the tension in the room dissolving. Robin, however, couldn't help but eye Alice suspiciously.*You're smiling like you know something else, she signed.*

Alice's grin widened slightly. "Maybe I do."

Robin huffed. *Great. Alice, I love you, you're my dearest younger sister, but... More cryptic nonsense. Seriously?*

"Technically, I'm your only little sister at the moment... but! Don't worry," Alice said, patting Robin's arm. "Your next trip is going to be fun. I promise."

Robin tilted her head, confused. *What trip?*

Alice's smile turned mysterious. "Arizona."

Robin blinked. *How do you know about that?*

Alice tapped her temple. "Gifted, remember?"

Robin narrowed her eyes but decided to let it go. Whatever Alice had seen about Arizona, it couldn't be worse than what they'd already been through. At least, she hoped not.

Robin leaned back on the sofa, her mind still swirling. Arizona, huh? She hadn't told anyone about her random plan to visit there, so Alice's casual mention of it had thrown her off. Sure, Alice's foresight was uncanny, but sometimes it was downright spooky.

Rosalie glanced at Robin. "Arizona? Why there?"

Robin shrugged, her hands moving lazily. *It's sunny, sandy, and I'm curious. Besides, why not?*

"Sunny," Edward repeated with a raised eyebrow. "Because nothing says 'fun family outing' like spontaneous combustion."

*We'll stay in the shade, drama queen,* Robin replied with a smirk. *And we're not like those fictional vamps, we sparkle, not combust... Well, I glow*

Rosalie snorted, though her expression softened as she studied Robin. "Are you sure this isn't about… other things?"

Robin hesitated, her hands stalling mid-sign. She knew Rosalie was asking about more than just the trip—she was asking about the visions, the fear, the weight of everything they'd been dealing with. Robin forced a grin, her fingers signing rapidly. *It's about escaping the doom and gloom for a while. Maybe find some cowboy boots, wrangle a cactus, you know, normal stuff.*

Rosalie rolled her eyes but didn't press further. "Fine. But I'm coming with you."

Edward sighed dramatically. "Of course, because what's a road trip without the lovebirds?"

Robin pointed at Edward, her expression mock-serious. *You're just jealous because your soulmate isn't here yet.*

Edward's lips twitched. "Jealous? Of the two? Hardly. I'd rather avoid the endless staring contests."

"You mean our heartfelt moments of communication?" Rosalie quipped, arching an elegant eyebrow.

"Sure, let's call it that," Edward replied, smirking.

The banter was cut short when Alice cleared her throat. "You know, Robin, your trip to Arizona might be more 'fruitful' than you think."

Robin's head whipped around, her hands flying. *Define 'fruitful,' because if you mean 'terrible things happening,' I'm officially canceling.*

Alice shook her head, her expression amused but vague. "Not terrible. More… interesting. Let's just say you might meet someone worth knowing."

*Oh, great,* Robin signed with exaggerated flair. *Because that's exactly what I need: more chaos*.

"Chaos seems to follow you, sis," Edward said dryly. "I'd say you're a magnet for it."

Robin gave him a mock glare. *If I'm a chaos magnet, what does that make you? The sarcastic sidekick?*

"Touché," Edward conceded, leaning back in his chair.

Meanwhile, Jasper had moved to stand by Alice, his calm presence anchoring her. He gave Robin a small nod. "If Alice says it's worth going, then it probably is."

Robin sighed, her hands moving more slowly now. *Fine. I'll go. But if I end up in another life-or-death situation, I'm holding all of you responsible.*

"You'll thank us later," Alice said with a wink.

The tension had mostly lifted from the room, though Robin couldn't completely shake the unease that lingered in the back of her mind. She glanced at Rosalie, who was now absently braiding her hair again. The sight was oddly comforting, a reminder of the quiet moments that made everything else worth enduring.

Hey, Robin signed, nudging Rosalie gently. *Promise me one thing.*

Rosalie tilted her head, curious. "What's that?"

*That we'll get through this. All of it. Together.*

Rosalie's golden eyes softened, and she reached out to take Robin's hand. "We will. I promise."

The sincerity in her voice made Robin's throat tighten. She squeezed Rosalie's hand, her own insecurities momentarily silenced.

"Speaking of getting through things," Edward said, cutting into the moment, "should we let Carlisle and Esme know about everything that's happened?"

Alice perked up. "They're already on their way. I saw them bringing cookies, remember?"

Edward groaned. "Right. Cookies. Because that's obviously the most urgent thing right now."

*Hey,* Robin signed with mock seriousness, *don't diss cookies. Cookies are sacred.*

Alice laughed, her earlier awkwardness completely gone. "See? Robin gets it."

As the conversation drifted back to lighter topics, Robin couldn't help but feel a small flicker of hope. The road ahead was still uncertain, and the weight of Alice's earlier visions hadn't entirely disappeared. But for now, they had each other, and that was enough.

Later that night, as the family started to disperse, Robin found herself standing by the window, staring out at the darkened forest. Rosalie approached her quietly, slipping her arms around Robin's waist.

"What are you thinking about?" Rosalie asked softly.

Robin hesitated, then signed slowly. *I'm scared, Rose. Not for me, but for you. For the baby. For everyone.*

Rosalie tightened her grip, resting her chin on Robin's shoulder. "I know. But we'll figure it out. Together, remember?"

Robin turned to face her, a small smile breaking through her worry.* You're too good for me, you know that?*

Rosalie smirked. "Don't forget it."

Robin laughed silently, her heart feeling a little lighter. Whatever the future held, she knew one thing for certain: she wasn't facing it alone.

I guess, after my parents visit...

To ARIZONA we GO!!!
