Chapter 120 - Chapter 113

AN: Life update, nobody asked me about this, but I'm still doing it, because why stop at this point? :D

- Nada. Aside from finally moving out of a toxic environment, temporarily finding a job, then being kindly let go/ I quit willingly, then deciding I'll seriously have a go at making a living with writing, using all my savings to buy a potato laptop... Nothing much.

For FF and Original novel updates. Still editing and rewriting. Original novel, that's going at a decent pace.

Same spiel, tho this time, I really would appreciate some help if you had some spare on yah, but you don't have to feel pressured to do so, I'm still gonna upload free chapters as promised, the new novel will also be uploaded once I stock up enough chapters. The current new Twilight FF chapter is a tad bit late, because of technical difficulties yesterday.

Advance chapters available on Patreon and Kofi. If you prefer just to donate rather than being a member, Kofi is better for that...

anywho.. here's another chapter!

3RD PERSON'S POV

Alice was sitting stiffly in the armchair, her hands gripping the sides like she was holding on for dear life. Her eyes were blank and unseeing, but her mouth moved every so often, muttering fragmented words no one could make sense of. Jasper was perched on the armrest beside her, his hand on her shoulder, his face a picture of calm concern. He wasn't saying anything—just staying close, his presence soothing her as she dove deeper into the swirling chaos of her visions.

Meanwhile, Edward was handing his sister Robin a small bottle of pink nail polish. He had produced it from his pocket like it was the most natural thing in the world. With a sigh that spoke volumes about how well he knew her, he plopped down onto the far side of the four-seater sofa.

Rosalie was beside Robin, seated in her usual queenly way, her golden hair cascading down her back like a shampoo commercial in slow motion. But instead of leaving it loose, she had picked up a comb and was starting to braid it, weaving intricate patterns into the strands.

It wasn't random. She knew Robin's love for complex braids—they had admired them together during a date in the city. This was Rosalie's way of calming her down, and it worked. Robin, however, was still wound so tight that you could've plucked a note off her like a violin string.

Edward, for his part, reached over and rested his hand on the pillow Robin had placed on her lap. He settled in like this was an ordinary day, and not the aftermath of a vision about death, destruction, and an apocalyptic vampire war.

*Pink?* Robin signed with jerky, exaggerated movements. Her hands flashed so fast that Rosalie snorted softly, though she kept braiding.

Edward shrugged. "It's always been pink. You like it. Now paint my nails, or do you want me to pick a color next time?"

Robin glared at him, but it was the sort of glare siblings traded when they were annoyed but still oddly comforted by each other. She opened the bottle, the faint scent of acetone wafting up, and started applying the nail polish to Edward's fingers with quick, precise strokes.

This was their routine. Edward had learned long ago that painting his nails was Robin's go-to when she was upset beyond words. And given that she couldn't risk speaking out loud right now—her voice might accidentally compel the entire room into chaos—this was the next best thing.

But even the rhythmic painting and Rosalie's soothing hair-braiding couldn't fully settle Robin. She was still seething. Her hands shook as she signed to Edward.

*We should just kill him.*

Edward winced, careful not to smudge the fresh coat of polish. "You know we can't do that, Robin."

Robin's fingers moved sharply. *Why not? He deserves it. He's a creepy old fossil who's been hoarding power for centuries.*

Rosalie snorted again, this time a little louder. "She's not wrong."

"Of course she's not wrong," Edward said, shooting a look at Rosalie before turning back to Robin. "But you know why we can't. Aro has too many allies, too many loyal followers. If we take him out, we won't just have the Volturi to deal with—we'll have an entire network of vampires who'd love nothing more than to destroy us out of revenge."

Robin's hands stilled for a moment, then resumed signing. *I don't care. We'll deal with them.*

"Robin," Rosalie said gently, her hands pausing in mid-braid. "We all care. But we can't afford to be reckless. You know that. You've been the one drilling this into everyone else's heads for years."

Robin's jaw tightened, and she clenched the nail polish brush a little too hard. She was silent for a long moment, then dropped her hands into her lap, signing begrudgingly. *Fine. But it still pisses me off.*

Edward smiled faintly. "Well, obviously. If you weren't mad, I'd be worried."

Jasper, who had been silent until now, spoke up from his place beside Alice. "We'll handle this. Together. The way we always do."

Robin didn't respond, but her shoulders relaxed a fraction.

Alice, still deep in her visions, mumbled something unintelligible. Her brow furrowed, and she shook her head slightly as if rejecting what she saw. Jasper squeezed her shoulder, his steady presence keeping her anchored even as her mind wandered through the endless threads of potential futures.

Robin's frustration surged again. Her hands flew into motion. *She's taking too long. What if she can't see anything?*

"She's double-checking," Edward said calmly. "You know how this works. Your mind's a mess right now—she's probably seeing a dozen different outcomes because you can't make up yours."

Robin scowled but didn't argue. He wasn't wrong.

As she applied the final stroke of polish to Edward's nails, her thoughts drifted to the skill she hadn't told anyone about: Love Bite. She couldn't explain it without revealing her reincarnation, which was a conversation she wasn't ready to have. So, she let everyone speculate about how she'd managed to get Rosalie pregnant.

The truth was simple, at least to her. The skill required her to have a strong emotional connection with her partner, and the urge to bite was part of the process. She'd felt that urge earlier, right before Alice interrupted her. That had to be the reason why Alice had seen Rosalie pregnant in her vision.

As if sensing Robin's realization, Alice gasped softly, her eyes snapping open. She looked directly at Robin, her expression a mix of exhaustion and urgency.

"What did you see?" Rosalie asked, her hands stilling mid-braid.

Alice blinked, her focus sharpening. "I saw…"

She trailed off, her gaze distant again.

"Not this again," Robin signed, throwing her hands up in exasperation. She's buffering.

Edward snorted, earning a glare from Alice as she came back to herself fully.

"I saw a lot of possible futures," Alice admitted. "But now… it's clearer. Robin, did you decide something?"

Robin's lips pressed into a thin line, and she nodded, a silent confirmation that she'd made up her mind.

Alice exhaled deeply, her shoulders slumping with relief. "The timeline's stable again. We can move forward."

Alice leaned forward, her elbows resting on her knees. The weight of her visions hadn't fully lifted, but there was a new clarity in her eyes. She glanced between Robin and the others, her lips tightening as if weighing her words.

"Okay," she began, her voice steady but still carrying an edge of weariness. "The futures aren't as chaotic now, but that doesn't mean we're in the clear. We still need to plan."

Robin crossed her arms, her lips twitching in frustration. *So we're still playing the waiting game?* she signed sharply, the motions quick and almost aggressive. *Sorry pixie, I'm not mad at you, I'm just frustrated and so mad at the moment*

"It's fine Robin, what are little sisters for if not to follow her big sisters words?... Yes, but it's not just waiting," Alice said, her tone firm. "It's preparing. The war is coming, Robin. Aro's paranoia about your gift and the whole… pregnancy thing"—she waved a hand vaguely in Robin's direction—"is inevitable. He's not going to stop."

Edward, his nails now perfectly painted, wiggled his fingers absentmindedly and said, "Honestly, Robin, if you weren't so scary when you're mad, I'd almost feel bad for Aro. He's terrified of you."

*Good. He should be*, Robin signed with a huff.

"Focus," Rosalie said sharply, tugging gently on one of her now-finished braids. "This isn't about making him afraid—it's about making sure he doesn't ruin everything we've built. We can't afford to lose anyone."

Robin's expression softened at Rosalie's words. The thought of losing her family—of losing Rosalie—was a dagger to her heart. She signed slowly, deliberately. *Fine. But we're not just sitting around waiting for him to make the first move. What's the plan?*

Alice leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms. "The plan is what it's always been: gather allies, prepare for the fight, and make sure everyone is strong enough to hold their own when the time comes."

Jasper nodded in agreement. "We've been making progress. You've already trained most of us to the point where we could give the Volturi a run for their money. And with the new people you keep picking up, our numbers are growing."

"Speaking of," Edward said with a sly grin, "are you planning to recruit anyone else? Or are we stopping at a full-blown vampire army?"

Robin rolled her eyes, her hands moving in an exaggerated flourish. *Not my fault I attract interesting people. Maybe I just have a gift for finding strays.*

"That's one way to put it," Rosalie muttered, though there was a hint of amusement in her voice.

Alice smirked, leaning forward again. "Well, whatever you're doing, it's working. Between Nasu, Jax, and Alexander, we've got some serious firepower on our side. And let's not forget the Denalis—they're still onboard, right?"

Robin nodded, her expression thoughtful. *They're with us. And they've been helpful. But it's not enough.*

"What else do you think we need?" Jasper asked.

Robin hesitated, her hands hovering in midair as she considered her next words. Finally, she signed, *More time. More training. And maybe… a way to deal with Aro without sparking a full-scale war.*

"That's the tricky part," Edward said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Even if we could take him out quietly, the Volturi's structure is too solid. If one leader falls, another steps up. And they won't forgive us for killing one of their own."

"Which is why we don't kill him," Alice interjected. Her gaze sharpened as she looked directly at Robin. "At least not yet. There's more than one way to win a war, Robin. And you're smart enough to figure it out."

Robin sighed, her shoulders sagging slightly. *Fine. No murder… for now.*

Edward snorted. "You make it sound like a diet."

Before Robin could retort, Alice's expression shifted. Her eyes glazed over briefly, and she stiffened in her seat.

"Here we go again," Rosalie muttered, folding her arms and leaning back against the couch.

Alice's head tilted slightly, her lips moving silently as her vision took hold. Jasper's hand tightened on her shoulder, grounding her as she slipped into another wave of foresight.

Robin watched intently, her fingers twitching with impatience. She wanted answers—needed them, even—but she knew better than to rush Alice. Instead, she turned her attention to Rosalie, reaching out to adjust one of the braids that had come loose.

"You're fussing," Rosalie said, arching a brow.

*You love it*, Robin signed with a small smirk.

Rosalie didn't respond, but the faint curve of her lips was answer enough.

After what felt like an eternity, Alice's eyes cleared. She blinked rapidly, her gaze darting around the room before landing on Robin.

"What did you see?" Edward asked, his voice unusually tense.

Alice hesitated, her expression troubled. "I saw…"

She stopped abruptly, her eyes narrowing as she focused on something none of them could see.

Robin's impatience flared again. What? Spit it out!

Alice shook her head slowly, her lips pressing into a thin line. "It's… complicated."

"That's not an answer," Rosalie said, her tone sharp.

Alice exhaled deeply, her gaze shifting between them. "I need to be sure. Let me look again."

Before anyone could protest, Alice's eyes glazed over once more, and she slipped back into her vision.

Robin clenched her fists, her frustration bubbling dangerously close to the surface. But this time, she didn't lash out. Instead, she leaned back against the couch, her hands resting in her lap.

"Give her time," Jasper said softly. "She'll tell us when she's ready."

Robin didn't respond, but her jaw tightened as she waited, the tension in the room thick enough to cut with a knife.

AN: Seriously, at this point, I just want them to have a baby, but I guess not yet, when I wrote this part... Honestly, I do not remember. I was in a different headspace, and it got a lot weirder and a lot turned differently than planned, but I will just keep them as is, since, as mentioned in the earlier days, I made this for fun, for my mental health, so it looks like a record of my crazy mod swings and mental health.
