Robin's POV
The room was eerily silent, except for the sound of Edward and Jasper's knees creaking on the hardwood floor. Both were plastered against the wall like schoolkids caught sneaking into the teacher's lounge, their hands flat against it, faces turned away, and heads bowed in shame. Edward's shoulders were shaking, but I couldn't tell if it was from the tension or him trying to stifle a laugh. Jasper looked like he was contemplating his life choices. Good. He should.
Seriously, even amongst family, witnessing their most intimate activity is a big no-no. And it wasn't just knocking first or calling out loudly, they barged in and physically interrupted the activity...
Now imagine that happening to you, how would you react? How would you feel?
Rosalie, my beautiful goddess of vengeance and sass, stood beside me with her arms crossed, her lips pressed into a tight line that could slice through steel. The sheer death glare she was sending at the back of their heads reminded me of Medusa, how her gaze froze anyone who was unfortunate enough to warrant it, and oh boy(and girl), they deserve it.
Even if I try to talk for them, I do not think Rosie's mood will lighten up anytime soon... my poor lil sis... What? What about Edweird? I raised him strong; he can take a beating, and Jasper was a soldier, so he'll manage. Alice is a cotton ball.
Alice, being the resident favorite, was spared the wall treatment. She sat on one of the one-seater sofas in the common area, legs crossed, looking shifty and uncomfortable as if sitting on a cactus. She tried to avoid eye contact, but the atmosphere was heavy with unspoken questions.
Normally, she'd act spoiled and cling to me until I let her latest mess go. Yes, I don't know about canon Alice, but our Alice, regardless of her ability, you'd think she'd be able to avoid trouble, right? But nooooooo... the little pixie seems to embody the phrase 'Carpe Diem', choosing not to use her ability all the time, she says it makes life more exciting, and that she already knew could fix almost all troubles she encounters and makes.
But I still instructed her to exercise her ability, just like everyone else. In simple game terms, we need their abilities to level up, possibly evolve. We've already proven that it can improve, just with my big bro; he already has some control over his ability. Which was a big thing for us; it was torture for everyone, including him, to not have an off button to it.
And Alice, our little ray of sunshine, has a very powerful and useful ability; having it at random was already useful, but having some sort of control over it?
I leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, leveling Alice with a stare so sharp it could peel an apple. "Alright, pixie. Spill it. What the hell was so important that you had to break into our room—while I was about to show Rosie why I'm the CEO of Bed Enterprises?" I didn't bother hiding my irritation. "You're lucky you're my favorite, or you'd be scrubbing your teeth out of the carpet with a toothbrush right now."
Alice gave a nervous laugh, which sounded more like a hiccup. "I—uh—had a vision," she stammered, hands clenching her knees.
"Oh, this should be good," I muttered under my breath, earning a low snicker from Rosalie, who still looked like she was debating whether to punt Alice out the window. I honestly have an idea what it could have been, it's not like this was the first time she prevented me from 'Biting' someone. But this was Rosalie and me!
Would it be so bad to have a child now... we've been preparing for a while now... I know earlier was like a spur of the moment, we got carried away... I got carried away...
Alice's hands flailed as she explained, "Look, it wasn't intentional! I saw… I saw you two…" She hesitated, her face turning an impressive shade of crimson that clashed terribly with her alabaster skin. Not really, Vamps can't blush, but if she could, she would be, her expression says so.
"Oh, just say it," Rosalie snapped. "We were banging. Doing the horizontal mambo. The tango of love. I mean, clearly, the concept isn't foreign to you, Alice, considering you're married."
Edward made a strangled noise, his forehead still glued to the wall. "Please stop," he muttered.
"What? You've seen and heard worse, brother. Perhaps, we should visit THAT place again, so I can toss you right in the middle. I'm pretty sure they'll welcome you with open arms and legs. The Madame loves plucking cherries like you," I teased. I'm joking, of course, just a little payback for him accidentally having an eyeful of my wife.
For those who are wondering, it's a coven of all female vampires, most were mated to each other, but some were still single, not like it mattered, because they devoured men in more ways than one, and the Madame was their head.
"Hooooh..." I heard the smirk from his tone, like he was about to say something that would expose me, and then a thought came to me.
Fuck! No, no, no, no... this is the problem when you've known each other your whole life, adding to that, he's your sibling?! The blackmail materials are endless.
And that particular coven is prime blackmail material. But before I could move to silence him, something fast passed by, and soon an ashtray hit my brother straight in the back of the head, and I swear to ROB that I heard a crack, I'm just not sure if it came from the ashtray or his skull.
We all, minus Edward, looked in the direction from which it came, and there she was, Alice. Aaaaah, my little pixie, still my favorite sister, I guess I could help her out a bit this time.
I ignored him. And focused on Alice. "I get that we all kind of had a plan, but we didn't actually have a set date, right?" I said, waving her on. "So why the hell would a vision of that make you storm in like you were making an apocalyptic mistake?"
Alice looked ready to melt into the cushions, but she pressed on. "It changed," she admitted quietly. "The vision shifted. After… well, you know…"
I raised an eyebrow. But my voice is lighter now. "No, Alice, I don't know. Enlighten me."
"It changed to Rosalie being pregnant."
The room froze. Rosalie blinked. Edward made a choking sound so loud it could've passed for a dying goose. Jasper muttered something that sounded suspiciously like "Oh, bless his heart," under his breath.
"WHAT?" Rosalie's voice went so high-pitched that dogs in the next county probably howled.
Alice hurriedly raised her hands, as if to defend herself from an oncoming assault. "Don't shoot the messenger! It just happened! One moment, you're… uh… busy, and the next, there's a baby bump and lots of chaos!"
"Pregnant," Rosalie repeated, her voice flat.
"Yes," Alice squeaked, looking like she wanted to dive behind the sofa.
Edward coughed awkwardly from his spot at the wall. "Uh, we still don't know how—"
"Quiet, Brother!" I snapped. "No one asked for your commentary!" I sighed, breathed in to calm myself down, and I almost used my gift on him. "I'm sorry, big brother... Also, put your arms back up, and stick your head to the wall."
Rosalie's hands clenched into fists. "Explain," she said through gritted teeth, her voice so sharp it could've cut glass.
"I don't know how it happened!" Alice said quickly. "But there you were, with a baby bump. And then… things got worse."
"Define 'worse,'" I said, my tone dangerously calm.
Alice hesitated, her eyes darting to Edward and Jasper like they'd offer her some kind of lifeline. Spoiler alert: they didn't.
"Aro found out," she finally said.
Oh, great. Because my day wasn't already ruined.
"That nosy antique?" I said, pacing the room. "What, did he decide he wants a grandchild now? I swear, that man is the vampire version of a problematic Facebook relative."
"He found out about your full gift," Alice said quietly. "And he got scared. He's rallying people to capture you."
"Typical," Rosalie muttered.
"Let me guess," I said, sarcasm dripping from every word. "He's spinning some 'for the greater good' nonsense to justify it?"
Alice nodded miserably. "Pretty much."
I sighed, rubbing my temples. "And this is all because of one vision? This guy is more dramatic than a reality TV contestant."
Rosalie's hand tightened around mine. "What do we do?" she asked, her voice calm but laced with underlying worry.
"We think," I said, my mind already racing. "If Aro's scared of me, then he's desperate. Desperate people make mistakes."
Alice shifted uncomfortably in her seat, drawing our attention.
"What now?" I asked, narrowing my eyes at her.
"I… might've left something out," she admitted.
Rosalie's growl returned, deeper this time. "Spill it, Alice. All of it."
Alice looked like she wanted to be anywhere but here. "In the vision… Rosalie and the baby died."
It felt like the air was sucked out of the room.
Rosalie froze beside me, her grip on my hand slackening. My own heart—if I had one—felt like it had been ripped out and stomped on.
"No," I said firmly, my voice trembling with anger. "That's not happening. I don't care what it takes; I'm not losing her. Or our child. Ever."
Alice looked down at her hands. "I'm sorry," she said softly. "I wish I didn't have to tell you, but you needed to know."
Rosalie finally spoke, her voice shaking. "How? How did I… die?"
"In the war," Alice said. "Aro started it, and everything escalated so fast. You and the baby didn't make it."
I couldn't breathe. My mind was spinning with rage, fear, and a desperate need to fix this.
"That's it," I said, my voice cold. "Aro's done. I don't care what it takes; he's gone."
"You can't just kill him outright," Alice said quickly. "Not without consequences."
"Consequences?" I snapped. "What about the consequences of not killing him? Do you think I'm just going to stand by while he threatens my family?"
Rosalie placed a hand on my arm, grounding me. "She's right," she said softly. "We have to be smart about this."
I looked into her golden eyes and saw the strength there, the determination. She wasn't giving up, and neither would I.
"Fine," I said, taking a deep breath. "We'll do this the smart way. But mark my words: Aro's going down."
Alice's vision changes depending on people's set decision, since she already told us about it and we're now planning... It could be different now. So I agreed readily.
Alice nodded hesitantly. "I'll keep checking the future," she said. "Maybe we can find a way to stop all this before it starts."
"Good," I said. "Start now."
Alice closed her eyes, her body going still as she activated her gift. The room was silent except for the faint rustle of fabric as Rosalie shifted beside me.
Then, suddenly, Alice's eyes snapped open.
"What did you see?" I demanded, my patience stretched thin.
Alice opened her mouth, her face pale and stricken.
