Chapter 32 - tell me what happened

In Our Room

Tae and I sat on the bed, with me between his legs. He was gently patting my hair.

"Baby, do you know how much trauma I was in when you were gone?" he asked.

I shook my head. "Tell me what happened."

He smiled and kissed the top of my head.

Taeyang's POV

FLASHBACK BEGINS

When Kim disappeared, my world shattered. I was devastated. He was my light, my reason to live. I couldn't imagine life without him.

The Woo family took me in. Even though I could never replace Kim, they still treated me like a son. But I was drowning in sorrow. I began attending mental health classes because the only thing that kept me going was the hope that Kim would return.

I cried day and night, drinking myself to sleep. I always set the table for two, and Hyung secretly ate the other portion, thinking I wouldn't notice. But I smiled and convinced myself it was Kim eating with me.

A whole year passed like that. One day, Hyung, tired of seeing me locked away, took me to the park. That's when I saw him.

I saw my Kim.

FLASHBACK ENDS

"I'm sorry you had to go through all that," I said softly.

Tae just hugged me and kissed my head again. "I'm just glad you're back."

That smile of his… it did something to me. But then—

"Ah... it hurts," I groaned, clutching my head. My vision blurred. Tears rolled down my cheeks before I could even register the pain.

"Babe? What's wrong? Please, hold on!" he panicked, trying to help me.

A knock at the door. "Come in—please, quickly!" Tae called out.

The door opened, and that was the last thing I saw before losing consciousness.

Hospital Room

I opened my eyes and instantly recognized the overly familiar white ceiling.

The hospital—again. I think I could win an award for most frequent visits.

But this time… this time, I remembered everything.

"Tae," I whispered, and just like magic, his voice filled the air.

"Kim, baby." Kiss. Kiss. "I thought I lost you." Kiss. Kiss.

"Baby, take it easy. I'm fine now," I laughed.

"Don't ever do that again. Remember when I told you..." He paused and pulled me into a hug.

I felt something wet hit my cheek.

"Baby? Are you... crying?"

He sniffled. "You scared me. If you dare die and leave me here, I swear I'll follow you just to kill you a second time. And then I'll kill myself too."

I smiled gently. "I'm sorry, okay? And... you've said that before."

He pulled away and stared at me. "You... remember?"

I nodded. "Everything. I remember everything, baby. Thank you for never leaving me."

I kissed him slowly. The kiss deepened with every passing second.

Smooch. Smack. Moan.

"What's going on here?" Hyung's voice cut through the heat as he walked in.

Tae just held me tighter, tears still silently falling. I rubbed his back, comforting him.

"Just give us five minutes. Let me cherish this moment. I just got my memories back, and I want to be with the only person I love."

Hyung paused, clearly heartbroken. "You remember everything... and the first thing you do is choose him... Okay. I understand."

He turned around and quietly left.

"Kim, baby... this time, I'm never letting you go. Even in the afterlife—if it exists—I'll find you. You'll always be mine."

I hugged him tightly. "Tae, if I told you I was reborn into this world just for you, would you believe it?"

He nodded without hesitation. "I'll believe anything you say, as long as we're together."

At Home

I was discharged from the hospital and went home right away. Dad threw a small welcome-back party for me, and I insisted Yoonah attend.

"Kim... I thought that when you regained your memory, you'd never want to see me again. Thank you for forgiving me. I'll forever be grateful," she said, wiping her tears.

I gently hugged her head. "You're my cousin. I told you—I can't hold a grudge forever."

Tae looked away, trying not to watch. I knew he was trying to hide his jealousy.

I held him close.

"Yoonah, enjoy the party. I'll be over there... flirting with my boyfriend," I said with a teasing grin.

She wandered off somewhere, and I turned to Tae.

"Baby," I called.

He smiled.

I poked his nose. "Don't ever think like that again."

He feigned confusion. "Huh? What do you mean?"

"You don't know?" I asked, smiling playfully.

"Nope." He smirked.

"Really?" I leaned close, breathing on his neck.

He moaned softly.

"What about now?" I whispered.

He quickly looked away. "Oh—uh, Mom! I'm coming!" he said, trying to escape.

But I was faster. I grabbed his waist.

"You're not escaping, babe," I whispered, kissing his neck.

He let out another soft moan.

"Baby... we're in public," he protested, voice low and husky.

"I don't care. Not until you admit it."

"Okay! Fine!" he pouted. "Yes, I was a bit jealous when you hugged Yoongi. But don't blame me, okay?"

I giggled. "Just look at that—my big daddy gets jealous."

"Don't call me that in public!" he whispered, flustered.

Skillfully, he made my hand rest on his hard bulge.

"Aww, Daddy… I'm sorry," I teased, biting my lip.

I felt him stiffen beneath my hand. I smirked.
