Chapter 10 - interlude date interruption

[Amy's Point of View]

Looking at the beauty in front of me, I pondered what I should ask next.

Then I suddenly realized — I hadn't even asked her name yet.

So I asked softly, "What's your name?"

It took about five full minutes of her just staring at me before she finally answered, "Taylor."

Her name was Taylor.

So I smiled and said, "My name is Amelia, but you can just call me Amy."

The girl nodded — almost imperceptibly — and went quiet again.

Deciding to stop the questioning, I just sat there and admired her beauty.

My thoughts began to wander. Why did I decide to date this girl I'd just met?

When I first saw her, I thought of her as nothing more than a beautiful flower — something to admire, to lust after.

But the longer I stayed near her, the more I realized I was attracted to her in ways I didn't quite understand.

It wasn't as strong as what I felt for her — my sister — but it was still there.

And maybe… if I nurtured this feeling, I could finally move on.

Maybe I could forget about my disgusting obsession.

I was shocked out of my admiring gaze when an explosion erupted down the street.

My head snapped toward the noise.

Of course — the Merchants. Those drugged-up maniacs never knew when to quit.

They never respected villain boundaries, probably too high to even realize where they were.

They were likely just after their next fix. But… why here?

Why did the world hate me this much?

I finally get a date with a girl I actually like, and now this happens.

Please, just once — let something go right.

[Taylor's Point of View]

As the weird girl finished introducing herself, I couldn't help but think — how did I even end up on a date with someone without knowing their name?

Am I just that charming… or is this girl just that weird?

Before I could decide which, an explosion tore through the air.

I looked over and saw the Merchants causing chaos on the boardwalk.

But what made my heart stop was the white-haired girl stepping out among them — straight out of my dreams.

I froze.

That girl… she wasn't supposed to exist outside of my dreams.

Sure, I'd woken up once with someone beside me who looked similar — my servant — but this?

This girl looked exactly like me.

What do I do?

What do I do?

What do I do?

Nai wa, I can't handle this! I'll just use my magic and turn invisible—

But before I could vanish, Amy tackled me to the ground.

What are you doing, Amy?! Are you trying to sexually assault me? I screamed internally as we hit the floor.

I was quickly shaken from my increasingly dark thoughts when Amy motioned for me to stay quiet.

I complied, watching her curiously. What was she going to do next?

The answer came quickly — she pulled out her phone and started dialing someone.

[Amy's Point of View]

Panic surged through me. Without thinking, I tackled the beautiful girl — Taylor — to the ground.

I fumbled for my phone and called Victoria.

She didn't answer.

Of course. She was probably too busy with her boyfriend.

I felt a surge of disgust — both at her and at myself for relying on her again.

No. I didn't have time for that.

I needed to think of a way to save both myself and Taylor before the Merchants noticed us.

My panic froze when a gentle hand rested on my shoulder.

Taylor's hand.

Her touch grounded me instantly, snapping me out of my spiraling thoughts.

I looked at her — and then realized our position.

I was on top of her. Straddling her hips.

My face burned bright red as I tried to scramble away, but in my haste, I slipped — and almost kissed her.

Luckily (or maybe unluckily), Taylor caught me and pushed me off before anything happened.

She silently motioned for us to hide behind the shop counter.

Of course, I followed — like a nervous duckling trailing its mother.

We crouched together behind the counter.

Outside, I could hear more explosions, more shouts, more demands from the Merchants for people to come out.

Some of the other customers — idiots — actually ran outside to comply.

Taylor and I stayed hidden, neither of us daring to move.

I could only think one thing as I clutched my phone tightly in my hand:

Please, Victoria. Notice the commotion. Come save us… before this day gets any worse.
