Chapter 5 - ## Logan Howlett

A few days later, in the remote logistics warehouse area of Santa Fe.

"You're on duty alone tonight. Don't cause any trouble."

In the security room, several middle-aged men packed up their belongings and turned to give orders to Rojo, who was sitting in the chair.

"Don't worry, it'll be fine."

Rojo leaned back comfortably in the chair, admiring the beautiful night view: "It's not easy to find a job in Santa Fe. I like this place."

Santa Fe has a four-hundred-year history. It is an old city in the United States, but compared to other prosperous cities, the crime rate in this old city is significantly higher than average. Smuggling, sex trade, illegal arms and drug sales are happening all the time in the city. After all, if we push the timeline back to the late 19th century, there were still wild cowboys roaming these barbaric lands, riding horses, robbing homes, and running rampant. Now the cowboys have disappeared and have been replaced by another group of savages.

A chaotic and dirty city is the best for Rojo.

He liked places like this. The more chaotic it was, the easier it would be to hide in it. Santa Fe matched his identity as a mutant.

Besides, each escape is destined to be a new beginning, and he needs to find a new job. Santa Fe has many defaulted industrial chains, and there is no need to register an identity, which is perfect for him.

Now, after a few days of adapting to life in Santa Fe, Rojo got a job as a guard at a logistics warehouse through some guys he met on the street, from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. The salary was $5,000.

During this period, all kinds of people would come and go from the logistics warehouse, and they were there to conduct transactions.

But it has nothing to do with Rojo. He is only responsible for guarding the warehouse area. The rules state that you can't ask too many questions and should run away as soon as you hear gunshots.

The job content is very simple, just watch the gate, but still few people want to come, mainly because three gatekeepers died some time ago, otherwise it wouldn't be a boy like Rojo's turn.

Guard the logistics warehouse at night.

There's a lot of free time during the day.

It lets Rojo freely inquire about Wolverine's whereabouts.

Since he read about Wolverine in the newspaper, he had the idea of looking for Uncle Wolf. The reason is simple: he needs help.

It's hard for a person to survive alone in this world.

Meanwhile, Rojo needs new mutant powers.

Currently, he only has two mutant abilities, which are too weak for him. These two abilities did not strengthen his physical fitness and each use would cause temporary collapse.

Uncle Wolf, on the other hand, has a self-healing factor that is envied by countless people. Even an old wolf is stronger than ordinary people. Besides, Rojo can learn and improve, which can produce unexpected effects.

The city of Santa Fe is very large, with several major neighborhoods and more than a dozen communities. It's not easy to find someone who is also hiding in the dark.

Rojo roughly judged Wolverine's current situation, working as an Uber driver in Santa Fe and nearby cities.

He depends on driving Uber to make money. As for his identity, he definitely wouldn't use his previous name.

Although rumors and some media believe that Wolverine is still alive, most people believe he died long ago, and many people have long forgotten the stories about Wolverine and the X-Men.

About ten years ago, when the X-Men were on a mission, Professor Wolverine was there! This is also the reason why Professor Charles is wanted and even listed as a dangerous weapon. He is now like a nuclear bomb that can be detonated at any time.

The official confidentiality work in this regard is very strict, and no outsiders witnessed the scene of that year. It is certain that the incident caused the X-Men to collapse, causing the Xavier Academy for Gifted Youngsters to be sanctioned by the outside world, making more people fear mutants, promoting the disappearance of mutants, and reducing the past heroes, the X-Men, to street rats.

As a traveler and insider.

Rojo naturally knew that Uncle Wolf was still alive at this stage, almost dead.

Hidden in a corner of the city.

Sure enough, a week after working at the logistics warehouse, Rojo learned of Wolverine's whereabouts through an Uber driver.

He didn't say he wanted to know Wolverine's whereabouts, he just described Uncle Wolf's appearance and lied that he was looking for his uncle who ran away from home many years ago. If anyone knew he was looking for a mutant, he would undoubtedly burn himself.

"I've seen the old man you mentioned a few times. He drinks a lot."

Rojo was sitting in the passenger seat, listening to the Uber driver: "He drives a Chrysler. It must be rented. I'm very good at judging people. A coward like him can't afford to drive such a good car."

"Just tell me. Where can I find him?"

Rojo added: "He's my uncle who has been separated for many years."

"In Block 77, there are many rich people there. He goes there to pick up clients at night."

The driver wrote a note, handed it to Rojo, and said: "To be honest, he drinks a lot. Even if you take him back, his family probably won't be happy. I've seen many people as rotten as him."

"Thank you. After all, he's my uncle."

After getting the address, Rojo tipped the driver and didn't stop any longer. He got out of the car and planned to walk to Block 77.

It was only a few blocks away and could be reached in less than ten minutes. He planned to grab something to eat on the way, as there was still more than an hour before nightfall.

Not long after, the dense night enveloped Santa Fe's Block 77. The lights were bright and festive, and the lights of various entertainment venues were as coquettish as the girls standing at the door. Compared to the day, the night here is obviously more lively.

Beep beep.

In front of the nightclub, the beautiful Chrysler stopped. The sleek black body was outlined with a graceful waist, making it look low-key but luxurious.

The owner of the car is a man in his fifties or sixties. His deep eyes are worn and decadent, and he looks tortured.

"Come on, take it slow, don't miss the target."

After getting out of the car, he opened the door respectfully.

Several young men embraced the girl and staggered out of the car. One of the drunk men even pushed the car owner.

But he wasn't impatient at all. He didn't turn around and close the car door until he was sent to the nightclub.

"Unfortunately."

He looked through the car window at the somewhat dirty interior and couldn't help but frown. In an instant, his aged face returned to calm. He silently drove the car to a nearby parking space and began cleaning the car's interior.

"Wolverine."

Suddenly, a soft call came from behind.

A familiar codename.

His body suddenly froze and he turned his head to look back, but saw nothing. People were having fun on the street and no one was looking this way.

"I'm confused."

Logan Howlett rubbed his eyebrows and a self-deprecating smile appeared on his lips: "Logan, Logan, who still knows Wolverine now?

Your era has passed, or in other words, the world never really accepted mutants and the X-Men.

Obviously, the professor's idiotic plan he talks about every day has no effect. Now mutants are disappearing in the trend of the times.

"Logan Howlett!"

But suddenly, there was that familiar call again, this time, closer, and beside him was a seventeen or eighteen-year-old boy.
