Hearing the commotion, Constantine turned his head and saw a powerful figure walking in from the other side of the mine's entrance. He was shrouded in thick darkness; the faint cold light reflected off his metal armor should have outlined more detailed contours, but the inexplicable cold pressure made it hard for anyone to take a closer look. The cold wind blowing through the mine carried a faint scent of blood, the cloak wrapped around his body, adding an additional layer of almost evil coldness to the already intense oppression.
"Batman?" Constantine said in slight surprise. Even from just the silhouette, he could tell this wasn't the Primary Universe Batman. But this Batman is probably very strong.
"Who is that?" Captain Universe Spider-Man asked.
Shadow Spider-Man didn't answer; he just gripped his gun tightly, thankful he had already sent out a distress signal.
No one expected Batman to come here in person. Although Batman is not afraid of battle, the current situation clearly does not warrant Batman's personal intervention. Yet Batman has chosen to appear at this moment.
However, it makes sense. DC doesn't have any gemstones now, so the gemstones in Shiller and his companion's hands are crucial. Even just one can prevent Marvel from gathering all the gems. In any case, at least one gemstone must be sent to Apocalypse Star.
Shadow Batman recalled the huge planet he saw when he arrived. He understood that once a gemstone entered Apocalypse Star, they would never have the chance to retrieve it, which would make it impossible to gather all the Infinity Gems.
And as long as they snatch all the Infinity Gems here and take them back to the command center, it could be their closest chance to victory. This battle must be won.
"Take action," Shadow Spider-Man said, "We must keep them here."
Captain Universe didn't hesitate any longer. He raised his hand, and a cold white beam pierced through the pit. Yet, the expected screams did not come; it seemed the light was blocked by something.
Captain Universe was slightly puzzled, and just as the light faded and he was about to check, a strong figure appeared behind him, a hand covered with hand armor pierced through his chest.
"You..."
Captain Universe Spider-Man only managed to leave half a sentence before instantly turning into a white light and disappearing in the mine.
Shadow Spider-Man was stunned. Captain Universe was the strongest in terms of raw power among the Spider-Men. He is the Apostles of Eternity, capable of wielding Eternal Divine Power, with a physique at a Divine Race Level. His energy protection and physical defense were top-notch, how could he be one-shot?
Either something went wrong with Captain Universe, or this Batman has a big problem!
Realizing something was off, Shadow Spider-Man quickly retreated. But just then, Evil Spirit Spider-Man, who was knocked away by the Batmobile, returned to the mine. Shiller shot a laser beam, but the opponent agilely jumped to the wall of the mine to dodge it.
His Skull Head burst into blue flames, a soundless scream, causing Constantine to turn pale.
"You... are guilty!" a voice like booming thunder echoed in the mine, and flames burst out from Constantine's body.
"Damn it, you think you can judge me?!" Constantine cursed through gritted teeth, meeting Evil Spirit Spider-Man's eyes without dodging or flinching. He directly pulled a glass bottle from the box and smashed it, the blood congealing with the viscous deep red soil inside the bottle.
In an instant, a Constantine made of earth stood in front of the real Constantine, the flames were transferred to the clay figure's body, almost immediately burning it to a char.
But Evil Spirit Spider-Man also screamed in pain. Constantine sneered and said, "'Whoever hurts Cain will suffer revenge sevenfold!'"
Evil Spirit Spider-Man fell from the wall, and Shiller slashed at him, but the flames blocked the attack. Constantine smashed a bottle filled with Holy Water on him, and Evil Spirit Spider-Man immediately began to smoke all over.
Constantine half-kneeled to pray, one spell after another encircling Evil Spirit Spider-Man, the flames started to weaken, and Shiller raised his dagger high again.
Slash!
Evil Spirit Spider-Man was run through the chest, slowly turning into a white light. When the two stood up again, there were no Spider-Men or Batman left in the mine. Shiller just saw Shadow Spider-Man run away, and Batman went after him.
The two of them also pursued in that direction. Constantine asked, "What's that guy's background?"
"One of the most powerful Batmen."
Constantine immediately realized the weight of this assessment, he said, "The Spider-Man who destroyed our ship used divine power; how did he kill him?"
"This Batman also knows magic," Shiller paused before continuing, "The source of his magic energy is the God Clan."
Constantine assumed Batman had made a pact with the God Clan and obtained magic energy from them. But he always felt that this didn't quite fit Batman's character, with Batman's personality, how could he possibly make a pact with any god?
Shiller actually had foreseen that reinforcements would be very strong, because even retrieving just one Infinity Gem would completely ruin the other side's plan to gather all the Infinity Gems, so Primary Universe Batman would spare no expense to save them.
Just didn't expect it to be Arkham Batman instead of Superman. However, Shiller could roughly understand why.
Most Supermen do not have strong magic resistance, or they find magic incomprehensible and lack experience in battling such enemies. So when there are figures like Captain Universe in the Spider-Man team, sending Superman over is not a good choice.
Instead, Arkham Batman, before the battle, had just looted Mount Olympus, ticking off the technology tree for dealing with the God Clan. He is best at dealing with enemies who use divine power. As expected, he sent Captain Universe directly back home at the first encounter.
Shiller knew he must have used some method, but no matter what, after resolving this most threatening Spider-Man, their pressure would be much less.
Just at this moment, they chased to a huge void. It seemed that some large mining equipment used to be parked here, but now it's been moved away, leaving a very spacious area, so vast that it's almost endless.
Shadow Batman has been cornered.
This guy is definitely off! Shadow Spider-Man thought in his heart. He possesses strength far beyond normal humans, who says Batman has no superpower?!
Knowing he might not escape this disaster, Shadow Spider-Man opened the recording function on the communication device, preparing to record the last piece of information. He was panting heavily, leaning against the corner of the wall, steadfastly staring at the figure approaching in the darkness.
"Hey! Stop!!!" Suddenly a voice appeared above the void, followed by a red and blue figure jumping down, swiftly picking up Shadow Spider-Man and swinging him to the other side.
Immediately, several figures swooshed down, directly surrounding the few in the center of the void.
Shiller turned to look, the one who rescued Shadow Batman seemed to be the Main Universe Spider-Man, and the few who landed later included two Miles and a Gwen Spiderman, and possibly a Spider-Man of the Movie Universe; the other uniforms looked so similar, they were indistinguishable.
There was no light in the mine, but the Spider-Men's compound eyes naturally had night vision ability, coupled with the spider-sense, the darkness was their domain, yet it was unfavorable to others.
"Do you have any lighting tools?" Shiller turned back and asked Constantine.
Constantine directly pulled out something from the box that looked like a crystal ball. He tossed it up with his hand, and it suddenly emitted a strong light, almost matching the effect of a flash bomb.
It was just in that instant that the spider-sense of the Spider-Men at the rear of the formation went haywire, they instinctively dodged, but as they scattered, they blocked the path of the Spider-Men in front, resulting in when the enemy charged, the Spider-Men in front were directly forced in front of Shiller and his companions.
Could Shiller show any courtesy to them? He brandished the lightsaber and charged into the crowd, hacking as he saw people. Constantine pulled out his gun and aimed, shooting at human shapes fiercely. The Spider-Men reacted as if they were stepping on a hot floor, crying out loudly.
The crystal ball tossed into the air floated suspended, emitting a gentle light, just enough to illuminate this piece of ground. With this light, Shiller found the Gwen Spiderman whose uniform color was most conspicuous, and thrust his sword over.
Gwen Spiderman just dodged Arkham Batman's collision, but when he turned back, he saw the lightsaber rushing toward his neck, he quickly jumped away, and upon getting a clear view of Shiller's face, let out a piercing scream.
The Main Universe Spider-Man beside didn't understand, but then his spider-sense started to go haywire too. He did a roll on the spot, dodging Shiller's chop, and upon getting a clear view of Shiller's features, he also let out a piercing scream.
After two successive misses, Shiller also felt some trouble. This bunch of Spider-Men's spider-sense was too keen, and this space was vast, highly suitable for them to dodge, it was impossible to catch anyone.
Shiller turned his head to find that Constantine was nowhere to be seen. This guy shouldn't have fled from the battlefield, so it was possible he went to prepare a large-scale attack weapon. Hopefully, this would be effective against Spider-Men.
But the Spider-Men didn't just want to dodge, they came here with a goal, so one by one they pounced on Arkham Batman, just to delay his actions.
Yet they clearly underestimated this Batman's strength, thinking the opponent was only like other Batmans, having just normal human strength. So in making tactical decisions, sometimes even if their spider-sense rang, they wouldn't choose to dodge, but instead trade a punch, opting for mutual damage.
Actually, in normal cases, this choice wasn't wrong, after all, if an ordinary person punched Spider-Man, Spider-Man wouldn't be affected much, but if Spider-Man punched an ordinary person, the other would basically get knocked out.
Unfortunately, this time they met a tough opponent. A Spider-Man rushed at Arkham Batman, intending to punch him, delaying his action. Arkham Batman already turned around, meaning he already noticed him, the spider-sense simultaneously rang, yet Spider-Man didn't stop his motion, planning to exchange a punch.
Resulting in the next second, a fist accompanied by a breaking sound smashed onto his chest, Spider-Man spat out a mouthful of blood, then was kneed and flung, followed by a downward elbow strike, heavily hitting the ground. Spider-Man felt his neck being stomped on, with a snap, the spine fractured in an instant, transforming into a streak of white light.
The spider group went silent.
As the cape flipped open, when Arkham Batman turned around again, the Spider-Men seemed to suddenly realize something, some information began rapidly circulating within the spider group.
"He's that Batman!"
"Yes, exactly him! The one particularly powerful!"
"The one who became president!"
"Surely it's him!"
"What do we do?"
"Gotta hold him off! Must hold him off!"
"Yes, can't let them escape, quickly hold him off!"
The Spider-Men gritted their teeth and stomped their feet, once again pouncing on Arkham Batman.
