It's mid-afternoon once we're all packed into the wagon. It'd be earlier, but with the extra gifts that May bought, some books Celeste borrowed from the palace, and some parting gifts from Katheryne, we fell a little behind.
She did her best to tempt us to the stay one more night for food, but if we did that, the sweet cream bribe would be a little bit redundant.
That, and also we're still on a rather pressing schedule. There's only so much leisure any of us can take in good conscience.
Unlike last time, it seems May is secure enough in seeing Katheryne again this time that she doesn't put up a fuss or upset about getting into the wagon to leave.
It's just as cramped as I remember, though, and none of the seats are especially comfortable. Though I suppose considering the nature of the journey, comfort wasn't really factored into design choices.
Nonetheless, Lucas shifts in his seat across from me. "Have to admit. I prefer taking horses. This thing is a bit slow and clumsy."
