Yvonne takes a step forward and presses her palm to her chest. "I couldn't thank you enough for all that you did to protect this city."
Weird.
I know we're the Heroes of the Tear. We had not one but two different parades and a ball. The king gave us rewards and positions.
I'm aware that people know of me, and that some people might even recognize me, despite not dressing like the noble most people would expect of me.
But hearing all this...flattery and gratitude from some random person.
It's overwhelming and I don't think I particularly care for it. It's not like I did it for thanks.
I grunt. "You don't need to thank me. King Henri compensated us well for the help."
"Your compensation from the crown is mere tithe compared to what we owe you for keeping us free and safe." Yvonne says passionately. "If you have ever need of us, please know that we owe you a great debt. Call upon us any time, and we'll strive to answer your request."
