Once we inform May about the change in plans, she's somewhat unhappy, but not as devastated as I feared. Instead she throws herself at Roland's leg, latching onto him while tearily admitting how sad she is that they can't see the play again.
Roland awkwardly pats her on the head and attempts to reassure her, suggesting that he will just tell her the whole story of the play again while we're in the wagon riding back to Lucas' manor instead.
The devious little one agrees only if he'll put on voices.
Which will be quite the show for the rest of us.
A dangerous one, if Lucas is unwise enough to comment on them.
This promise procured, she quite bravely composes herself. I'm quite certain she's still unhappy for not being able to see the stage play again and only getting Roland to say it to her like weird little bedtime story.
But she's controlling herself well.
I scoop her up without warning, earning a surprised little yelp.
