"Auntie, look!" She points at a cluster of flowers growing near the edge of the pond, and I turn to follow her finger. There's a large, white flower whose petals turn yellow at the tips. It's not one I recognize. I've seen it before, of course, but I can't name it. I'm not an expert on flowers either.
I'm not an expert on many things.
"That's pretty."
"Yeah!" She says, nodding. "I like this one! I wanna show it to you!"
She runs over to the flower and kneels down in front of it, carefully plucking the stem. Then she brings it back to me, offering it to me with a bright smile.
"Here! This one is for you!"
"Thank you, May." I say, taking the flower from her. It's a nice gesture. I'm sure she'll forget about it soon enough, but for now I can appreciate it.
"Hey, May." I say.
"Yes?"
"Come closer." I motion to her.
She walks over to me, her eyes wide. "What's up?"
