Tap, tap, tap…
Lucas and his group quickly reached the flight platform. Annie, Elisa, and Amelia stared in astonishment at the platform before them. Wasn't this far too dangerous?
Appearing before them was a cliff. A huge, flat platform extended out, with nothing but a sheer drop below. The beast-eared girl carefully walked to the edge and looked down, discovering it was several hundred meters deep.
"This is the flight platform?" Annie looked at the Master in astonishment, her voice crisp, "Master, they train in a place like this? Are they training their courage?"
"Uh..." Lucas rolled his eyes. What courage training? He chuckled, "This is a takeoff runway."
Hang gliders needed a high place to gain lift in order to fly into the sky. This was also why the air force base was chosen to be in this location; the flight platform was a natural spot for a takeoff run.
On flat ground, hot air balloons could be used as a launch platform. Lucas had heard that over twenty hot air balloons had already been produced and had been assigned dedicated transport carriages.
"Takeoff runway?" Annie was baffled, her fox ears twitching. What's that all about?
Elisa's emerald-green eyes narrowed slightly. She had a feeling that some new thing was about to appear again, and her curiosity was now completely piqued.

Once the air force soldiers were ready, they stood on the flight platform, lining up one by one. The one in the lead had a solo hang glider; he was the leader.

As his voice fell, the lead soldier started running, charging towards the cliff. He dropped off the edge before the stunned eyes of the girls.
"This..." Annie, Elisa, and Amelia were stunned for a moment. They quickly ran to the edge of the cliff and saw that the lead soldier was already flying. Only then did they breathe a sigh of relief.
"Next one!" Tony shouted at the top of his lungs. "Maintain distance, don't get too close, keep formation."
"Next one."
"Next one, quick, quick, keep up."

One by one, the air force soldiers jumped off the cliff and then all began to glide steadily, forming a V-shape formation in the sky.
Hang gliders had far too many uses. They could be used for reconnaissance. In a battle between two armies, if one side had eyes in the sky, they could clearly see the enemy's formations and even launch a surprise attack to burn their supplies. The other side, however, would know nothing. This was an information imbalance; the backward will be beaten.
This was also why Lucas had spent so much effort on the hang gliders. With mobile hot air balloons, the limitation of terrain could be solved. As long as a hot air balloon could be raised in a concealed location, allowing the air force soldiers to take off from the balloon, it would be a perfect configuration.
"Father, I want to fly," Amelia turned around and looked at Lucas expectantly, her green eyes filled with longing. She had been waiting for this day for several years and couldn't wait to fly in the sky.
"Alright. I'll have someone prepare," Lucas said with a light laugh. One of the reasons he had brought the girl here today was to fulfill his promise to take her flying.
